I love Tiber Septim lore. He's basically a player character made canon: Shows up out of nowhere, wins every battle, has a random superpower. I think he just went to the emperor to turn in a quest, tried to see if he could kill him, and then realised he hadn't saved in days so had to keep the save going.
i mean one common theory is he literally is the player characters, with him and all the player characters just being manifestations of the same oversoul
The fact that Sissel seems to be having 'visions' or 'dreams' about Paarthurnax and Alduin just adds to the intrigue. If you speak to Sissel there is the chance that she'll mention having a dream about two dragons, one, black and evil, one white and friendly. Maybe she has some sort of magical powers already and Jouanne is aware of that and is teaching her to control them.
giorgos thoma Perhaps, although from all known information about the Dragonborn, they are not aware they will be one, and there are no outward indications about them possibly being one either. I love that Delvin's reaction to you, if you're Guild Master, if you approach him on Dark Brotherhood business is basically just: "You're making friends all over, huh Boss?"
He wasn't punishing him though, he was protecting him. However, the game does give a better hint if you read between the lines. For the Dark Brotherhood/Thieves Guild one, I think that it might be more of the favoured method for assassins of literal backstabbing. Almost a dark humor joke.
Welcome to the crew. May I suggest the following TH-cam channels: Fudgemuppet (for lore and builds of not only the Elder Scrolls and Skyrim), Camelworks (to find unique weapons and items, investigate various mysteries, and more) and of course, Nate. This trio is brilliant for Skyrim. Wind guide you.
“There are no hagravens in this world...save for my father in law” First off, how long have you been married for Nate, and secondly, best hope he doesn’t see this video XD
Strange, that a running theme in Skyrim is one of leaders of factions disrespecting traditions and eventually dragging the -company- I mean, faction into disrepute... (Not as strange as my use of grammar here, though)
I mean let's not act like the Nords are saints here, they're really fucked up. The Thalmor just make them look good because they're racist genocidal maniacs
I saw this temple on top of a small mountain north eastish of markarth. I managed to hop my way all the way up there just to find its surrounded by an invisible wall. I'd call that pretty spooky. It's just across the river from a mine I cant remember the name of. Its overrun by forsworn. Edit: its Kolskeggr Mine and the location I spoke of is on the island just southeast of the mine.
I've always thought of the eye of magnus as a giant battery because the only way to manage the power was to put it through a conduit capable of it like the eye of magnus witch calmed it down but charges up when hit directly
my theory about Delvin is that its possible that maybe Delvin fell in love with Astrid and she wasn't married at the time, its possible the betrayal was Arnbjorn stealing his girl
You need 3 witches to form a convent so they can turn into Hagravens, there are references to that in letters and dialogs. Hagravens also apear to be the ones turning Forsworn warriors into BriarHeart so these are not different energies.
Yo!! I'm doing another play through of Skyrim, so I head to Riften specifically to give Ingun BlackBriar them 60 damn ingredients. So for maybe the first time I paid attention to what she says and it seems this young lady is asspiring to join the Dark Brotherhood. she says something about "wanting to ply her trade in darker circles". I wish I could recruit her. Pretty neat.
Isn’t it also possible Delvin meant “it’s the dark brotherhood all over again” in that he wasn’t responsible for accidentally committing murder but was framed for it, sending him to the dark brotherhood as a scapegoat for something he didn’t do? Much like how the current thieves guild leader got himself where he is. Maybe he did this kind of trick before and Delvin was just the fall guy at the time.
Hi Nate, in Solstiem when you complete the chief riekling misson. You find random Riekling warrior join your character in certain quests. It makes a massive advantage in some dungeons.
For the eye of Magnus, it makes more sense if the Snow Elves built the thing, the Nords stole it and then the Snow Elves attacked the Nords to reclaim their treasure, which caused the Nords to flee and then return to conquer.
For the Hagravens, i've always supposed that the ones that made a pact with hircine became werewolves if they were male and hagravens if they were females. Maybe that's it ? Weel, there is the case of Aela but we can suppose she just drank the blood of others werewolves, like we do, instead of meeting Hircine in personn.
Maybe the rorikstead mage "teaching" the young girl magic in secret is a way for him to perform a ritual on her (and all young women before child birthing age) to prepare her to be sacrificed without her realizing she is a target of his magic/rituals. It seems like a great way to keep the victims quiet and willing to participate. Pretend that it's their little secret from the village so the girls wont raise any suspicions towards him, AND under the guise of magic lessons theyd willingly walk in and participate in magical rituals the dont understand. My last point is REALLY stretching but teaching her to "put out candles"... how many times have we seen in movies someone sitting in the middle of a ritual surrounded by candles and when some dark evil spirit shows up ominous stuff starts happening including all the candles getting put out. :o
Hmmm i always felt he felt bad for sissles situation and he wanted to keep it quiet because nords are a skidish bunch when it comes to magic. But you bring up a very interesting point there nate.
One of the greatest mysteries to me in Skyrim has always been the mystery of Why Bathesta didn't programme the NPC's of Riverwood Mill to use a vacant wood cutting block instead of the one you're using. So many times has fendral pushed me out of the way when I've been chopping Wood for gold to get training in the early stages that it gets annoying. Especially when there's a second chopping block at the mill. Why they didn't program them to use the one you're not using I guess we'll never know 😂
I had my theory that Delvin (like his fixation with Vex) had the same feelings for Astrid and instead of shutting them down leads him on.. but still marries Anbiorn (sorry for the spelling).
Regarding the backstabbing in the Dark Brotherhood, it may simply be that Delvin witnessed a lot of backstabbing while he was in the Dark Brotherhood and didn't fall victim to it himself. It speaks to the current state of the Dark Brotherhood in that they haven't been strictly following the five tenets, emphasizing their more thug-like behavior.
Oh Nate, I’ll never cease to love your videos. Your content is phenomenal and your descriptions so entertaining, but pronunciation...?! Nate: “Jo-arn” Npc (2 seconds later) pronouncing the characters name: “Yo-anne”
Even after years I’m still finding new stuff. I was wandering Skyrim through yet another play through. If you encounter a Vigilant of Stendarr, they’ll cure your disease for you, at the promise you won’t deal with any daedra.
I always thought the eye of Magnus was something the nords either found or stole and the snow elves were trying to get it away from people who didn't understand it/would misuse it. I also think ysgrmar knew damn well that it existed and that's why the snow elves attacked and that's the real reason he had such a hard on to kill them. He thought they took the eye and was trying to find it again.
If the other orb from ESO was built by elves and the Eye of Magnus is almost identical, then surely it was elves who built EoM too. Maybe it was the snow elves that built it and maybe it was the Nords that stole it from them and the snow elves were only trying to take back what was rightfully theirs. Maybe the Nords are the true villains and the snow elves got screwed by the Nords before they got screwed by the Dwemer.
It seems obvious from the suggestive way they talk about each other that Delvin and Astrid used to be lovers. Also Delvin seems to be quite the "player" (or at least tries to be, as suggested by some letters between him and Vex found in the Ragged Flagon). I suspect that relationship came to an end when Astrid settled down with Arnbjorn. There probably was a betrayer in the Dark Brotherhood during his time there, but I don't think it was Astrid. In fact, I suspect it was whoever the leader was that recruited Astrid. She's still fairly young and says she was recruited by someone else. She leads the chapter when we meet her, but she didn't found it. Delvin's comparison to his time in the Brotherhood seems to me to suggest that, just like the Mercer incident, the betrayal came from the leadership. Ironically, if this is true, Astrid ends up repeating history.
I really would like to see that armour from the Talos statue to be added in the game, even through creation club I don’t care, as long as it’s very cheap.
Rorikstead was definitely meant to have more quests behind it. I feel like there's a lot of cut content around it. There's a lot of lines that don't make sense in accordance with others. There was definitely at least meant to be a questline about the soil, and I bet the Daedra worship was supposed to play a big role in it or something to that effect.
I have a mystery I've always wondered about. After you find the Eye of Magnus, and later return, it's now at the College of Winterhold. How did they move it from one spot to the other? It doesn't look like it would fit through any door.
I feel like delvin’s reference to the dark brotherhood “stabbed in the back, it’s like the dark brotherhood all over again” is just a reference to sneak and stab attacks that the brotherhood are best known for, and is just a play on words rather than a reference to any deeper meaning. But interesting to think something else might be going on!
the thing about the eye though is that when you and tolfdir are examining it he says it matches no known cutlures recorded, he lists off aeyelid, daedric and falmer
M'aiq was once sent to a different space, one with many lights, and who did he find there, but the ancient dwemer! Sadly, M'aiq could not understand a word they said.
I feel like the eye of magnus stores magic in it for later use. Especially since the staff drains magic from enemies. It would make sense you use the staff to steal magic then you store mass amounts inside of it holding more magic than a mortal could possibly hold. Kind of my theory
"There are no male Hagravens in the world. Save for my Father-in-law." *ROFLMAO* Nate, I triple-dog dare you to play this portion of your video to your Father-in-law.
@@voilet-the-non-violet-vulpix I'm a 52 year old who's trying to be cool, thank you very much. What's your excuse? Sorry, sorry. It was a long day at work...
A very good point to be considered/better explained: The timeline between the Dragon War - and all the Dragon Cult regime that came before - and Ysgramor’s dynasty. It was never quite explained how those two intertwined during the Merethic Era.
Nords definitely didn't build the Eye of Magnus. From what the College quest line tells us, the Snow Elves and Dwarves were using it in harmony for some time, allowing them to advance well beyond what should have been possible in that era. The snow elves attacked when the Nords stole the Eye of Magnus and locked it in their city.
Heres something that always intrigued me. How was ulfric captured when he has the power of the voice? He couldve shouted them to bits like he did the high king
Delvin uses the same stabbed in the back voiceline when he finds a body which made me think he was just talking about backstabbing as a good way of killing. Now i dont know what to think
I just "discovered" something.. The symbols in the pages of the oghma infinium and the eye of magnus have the "same" symbols on it kinda and the oghma infinium Is hermaeus mora's deadric artifact 🤔
A few years ago a friend who is very into Elder Scrolls lore told me the full story about the Eye of Magnus. I heard this through word of mouth, so it will need to be verified, but it's worth looking into. The reason everyone can tell the eye is powerful, yet no one has seen anything like it, and no one really knows what it does, is because it's not actually magic as they know it in the Elder Scrolls universe. Rather, it is technology so advanced that it is indistinguishable from magic. The eye is an asteroid mining machine from the future that somehow got sent back in time to the present day.
It's a healthy guess, but I would assume that when Delvin spoke of Mercer's treachery and the Dark brotherhood, he was referencing the events of the Brotherhood questline in Oblivion from 200 years ago, where *spoiler alert* there was a traitor in the black hand pulling strings from behind the curtain, which actually almost lead them to ruin. The Thieves Guild got into a similar enough situation at that moment, so he likely made the natural comparison to an event he'd probably know something about given that he was in the Brotherhood for a time. Buuut depending on when it triggers (after or regardless of completing the Brotherhood Questline), he could be referencing the more recent treachery of Astrid. It'd take some sleuthing to figure out for sure tho :)
tiber septim killing the king to claim the throne fits perfectly with the fact we know he was dragonborn, and thus had the dragons innate desire of conquest
It's been awhile since I was this early. I still think whether or not Todd Howard is a hero or a villain, is the biggest mystery. On one hand he created arguably one of the greatest games of all time... on the other hand fallout 76...
You may not see this. Even then. You convinced me too replay Skyrim- it’s been a LOT of fun. I only played it once for 50 hours on console. Gave it a shot on PC and damn. Loving it.
Honestly the Astrid/Delvin one is probably simple. Astrid slept with him but Arnbjorn came along, she left Delvin for Arnbjorn, he eventually got over it. It's never said if Arnbjorn/Astrid were before or after Delvin really.

@Thibault Derese I would say 99% of House Telvanni agrees with my message
Maybe it’s able to be compressed into a smaller size like the dragon orbs (if I’m remembering that right) from Dragonlance.
Tied it with a rope and walked it, like a dog, a flying dog
For the Dark Brotherhood/Thieves Guild one, I think that it might be more of the favoured method for assassins of literal backstabbing. Almost a dark humor joke.

"Except my father in law", heh.
I just started my Skyrim playthough today. I love this game! Been uploading the past few hours.
“There are no hagravens in this world...save for my father in law”
First off, how long have you been married for Nate, and secondly, best hope he doesn’t see this video XD
Strange, that a running theme in Skyrim is one of leaders of factions disrespecting traditions and eventually dragging the -company- I mean, faction into disrepute...
(Not as strange as my use of grammar here, though)
So the question then is
Who's gonna be the new guy at Bethesda who quickly rises through the ranks and overthrows Todd?
shadowthehh2 The Ulfric of Bethesda
Whereas Kodlak is the opposite.
@@Xolcm Yeah, I feel bad including Kodlak in the above, but he did still want to break with tradition, so it kind of works.
I still prefer Astrid over Mercer, least she gets what she did wrong. Mercer went out blaming you and Karliah
3:57 - I thought it was a nod to Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood quest line.
I guess he didn't want to Delve into details
I am curious about how the process of pregnancy and giving birth goes for female werewolves depending on whether or not they shift.
good question
the Talos thing seems like a Propaganda a Thalmor would say, Him being a bad guy and Murdering his King and taking the throne.
Yup
I mean let's not act like the Nords are saints here, they're really fucked up. The Thalmor just make them look good because they're racist genocidal maniacs
@@belland_dog8235 you mean really hecked up
Murdring his King _to death_ you mean. :)
I read a theory awhile ago about how all 3 of Talos' personalities came up with the plan. Made sense to me.
I saw this temple on top of a small mountain north eastish of markarth. I managed to hop my way all the way up there just to find its surrounded by an invisible wall. I'd call that pretty spooky. It's just across the river from a mine I cant remember the name of. Its overrun by forsworn.
Edit: its Kolskeggr Mine and the location I spoke of is on the island just southeast of the mine.
thats skyhaven temple, where the "Alduin's Wall" part of the main quest takes place.
I've always thought of the eye of magnus as a giant battery because the only way to manage the power was to put it through a conduit capable of it like the eye of magnus witch calmed it down but charges up when hit directly
my theory about Delvin is that its possible that maybe Delvin fell in love with Astrid and she wasn't married at the time, its possible the betrayal was Arnbjorn stealing his girl
of all the DB members Arnbjorn scares me too.
I thought that too
Of course there are no male hagravens. They’d be called geezercrows. 😉
We need this in the game
Tearful Moon I hereby release this idea to any and all modders who want to have a crack at it. Don’t fail me, Nexus. 😆
Hey I'll take a crack at that mod. Might be a while though, still trying to fix my computer
That actually doesn't sound too bad...
Damn!
Petition to make me the new courier for Skyrim
Lol
Seconded.
Caught Benny yet?
I'm fed up with your ex!
Nords have always hated magic...
@@dasik84good point
For the Hagravens, i've always supposed that the ones that made a pact with hircine became werewolves if they were male and hagravens if they were females. Maybe that's it ? Weel, there is the case of Aela but we can suppose she just drank the blood of others werewolves, like we do, instead of meeting Hircine in personn.
That's a good theory you got there...
@@sandrynvd6003 Thank you !
Murdered to death gets me everytime idk why
“There are no male Hagravens in the world. Except my father in law” *Cuts to an ad*

@@kindofsad1159 ok cool

When Delvin mentions about backstabbing, couldn’t he just mean it in a literal sense, like, assassins LITERALLY stab people in the back for a living.
Oh Nate, I’ll never cease to love your videos. Your content is phenomenal and your descriptions so entertaining, but pronunciation...?!
Nate: “Jo-arn”
Npc (2 seconds later) pronouncing the characters name: “Yo-anne”
Even after years I’m still finding new stuff. I was wandering Skyrim through yet another play through. If you encounter a Vigilant of Stendarr, they’ll cure your disease for you, at the promise you won’t deal with any daedra.
I’m not sure but have you covered the fairy ring, the ring of mushrooms? It’s south of Sungard and east of bilegulch mine
Now I gotta know what your father-in-law looks like cause that Hagraven diss was straight savage.
The only unsettling mystery is why I didn't watch this sooner
your mods enhanced delvin’s beauty so much that i had to pause the video to appreciate it for a moment
I have a mystery I've always wondered about. After you find the Eye of Magnus, and later return, it's now at the College of Winterhold. How did they move it from one spot to the other? It doesn't look like it would fit through any door.
I agree with that statement
Teleportation?
Savos Aren just used
0001C1B8.placeatme MG08
Console commands of course..LOL
The delvin quote about the brother hood betrayal in the past I'm pretty sure is just a nod to oblivions dark brotherhood questline
The glowing orb in the middle of that Dwarven city also looks similar to the eye of magnus
Love that these vids are still a thing, keep up the good work dude!
Save for my Father-in-law."

A very good point to be considered/better explained: The timeline between the Dragon War - and all the Dragon Cult regime that came before - and Ysgramor’s dynasty. It was never quite explained how those two intertwined during the Merethic Era.
What mod are you using to create the smoky candles? That looks absolutely amazing.
ELFX
Nords definitely didn't build the Eye of Magnus. From what the College quest line tells us, the Snow Elves and Dwarves were using it in harmony for some time, allowing them to advance well beyond what should have been possible in that era. The snow elves attacked when the Nords stole the Eye of Magnus and locked it in their city.
The working theory is that Nords found the Eye of Magnus directly in Saarthal, and the elves stole it.

Perfectly balanced. As all things should be

"Lives with her sister" are they twins?
They certainly appear to be.
Honestly the Astrid/Delvin one is probably simple. Astrid slept with him but Arnbjorn came along, she left Delvin for Arnbjorn, he eventually got over it. It's never said if Arnbjorn/Astrid were before or after Delvin really.
I used to be a huge Talos fan. The more I delve into the lore, the less I am a fan.
