I will join the world wide chorus of people who are thrilled - not only for the chance to learn more at Sutton Hoo, but also for the recognition being given to Time Team, who have done so much to educate and inspire for so long. How fitting that an international treasure should be investigated by a team that are, themselves, an internationally appreciated treasure.
Agreed from America! Found Time Team during the pandemic and it has become a comfort show. SO thrilled to see them dig the site that got me interested in archeology in the first place!!
My word, I wonder if you may be THE Chris Butler that was involved with the Bignor Roman villa, where I did a course in Conservation of Finds, way back in the early 2000's? Beautiful landscape and a very enjoyable experience.
I was the custodian of Sutton Hoo and prepared the site for the excavations by Martin Carver in 1983. It'll be interesting to see what the neighbouring fields reveal. Working there was a memorable time. I even had a one person display by the Red Arrows who switched on red, white and blue smoke as they passed over.
