  • Part 1 Paint process of Crashed and Abandoned McLaren 650s
    In this video we start the painting process by painting all the new "used" parts... including the fender, door, quarter panel and side quarter/pillar section on the car. Stay tuned for Part II where we paint the entire car once all the parts are installed.

    Gday Andre,
    Nice work mate! Great to hear the grits etc you are using. I’m a self taught painter. I buy, restore, sell earthmoving equipement as a “side hustle”. Had a high pressure Iwata gun for about 20 years. I was so use to it and had great results. Recent times I was recommended to try a High Volume Low Pressure. I’ve got a lot to learn as not happy with my early results with it. I’ll get there. 😁
    I’d be really interested to hear what type of guns you are using at the time of painting, pressures, tip sizes etc for the various coatings. Maybe how you set up the guns before spraying? What you are thinking to watch out for? Maybe possibly a tutorial type vid also in the future for us novices on the basics? It would be priceless info for those watching like me.
    I think Vlad owes you a Modelo or two! 😁
    Cheers 🍻 🍻

    Coming along nicely! You really get that clear to lay out like glass. Do you use a high solids clear? Do you have a baking option in your spray booth?

    • @LncPainter
      @LncPainter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you 🙏🏼 I use both, depending on the job and how much time i have to let it dry. We do not have the option to bake, but do have some heat lamps that get the temps up after its cleared. I like to spray everything wide open and at 28psi with my Iwata w400

      Its a big job, lots of pieces and parts. I never like to paint with a completely packed booth. Quality is better and a lot cleaner when you separate. • @LncPainter
      @LncPainter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually do, but on this car the quarter needs to be glued down, the doors are scissor doors…It’s a very intricate assembly process so I didn’t want Vlad to stress over messing up the finish. Besides everything is getting painted so it would be ideal to paint the outside together as one ☝🏼

    Hello. I have a McLaren 12C that is also McLaren Orange. I need to have the bumper re-sprayed and I am having a very difficult time sourcing the paint or formulation. Would you be willing to share the formulation or how you were able to obtain the paint. McLaren will not sell their paint and I live five hours away from the nearest facility. Thank you!

    • @LncPainter
      @LncPainter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, do you have any automotive paint stores/suppliers near by. They should be able to match and mix the paint no problem. Color code is 3211. There are a couple variants too.

    • @michaelsonya73
      @michaelsonya73 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lnc Painter Thank you so much! I know that 3211 is not the actual McLaren paint but a PPG variant of the color. Do you think that a proper body shop will be able to tint from that code to only have to paint the bumper or do you think feathering/blending will be required on the hood and fenders? Thanks again

    • @LncPainter
      @LncPainter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@michaelsonya73 i absolutely think a proper bodyshop should just match and tint the color if needed. I personally would try to avoid painting into the fenders and hood. If the paint on the bumper is clean near the edges where it meets the hood and fenders that would even be better, because you can blend within the bumper and stay away from the edges. Kinda what i did on the ferrari 488 bumper if you watch that video. 👍🏻
