Excellent job, Vlad must be very happy, it was interesting you painted the orange grey, I was expecting you to colour the grey orange, knock it back and paint orange all over but I realise that the grey gives a uniform base so the orange is the same depth everywhere and it’s quicker too, Great job as always👍

I used to work at Mclaren factory on the polishing line and your paint finish is far better than the factory finish

@@LncPainter they have 2 painters per car and as you know each painter paints differently so the finish on the cars where shocking and it was a nightmare polishing them
@@garyeccleston6789 absolutely right, no two painters are alike. That must have been quite a challenge. I bet you know a thing or two on how to get a perfect finish after color sand and buff 👌🏼😄

great! why is the foil used?
Instead of masking difficult uneven items with masking paper and tape, i just quickly wrap foil over it. With Foil i find its a lot easier and foil hugs whatever object i wrap instead of dangling. As you saw those spoiler posts are super close to the top of the quarter sections where I had To paint.

Why not mix one big batch of paint and paint removable parts of the vehicle fenders, quarters? I feel like jambing parts is double the work reinstall then mask and have the possibility of leaving a paint line.
Its not that simple, its not a Honda civic, quarter panel is glued down, doors open up, you dont want to be messing with alignment and installing when the paint is fresh
Do you add ceramic coating or PPF to protect your paint job?
I do not, but definitely will look into it! 👊🏻😁
Great job Andre, it must be really intimidating to paint a McLaren after watching factory vids of them spending 100 hours on the paint at the factory. But I have to say, you do an excellent job!

Thanks! 👍🏻 its called PIG Grippy Mat, comes in blue from what i bought online, our paint supplier gets the green one. Same thing tho 👊🏻

Thank you 👊🏻😁 I think you should never have to deal with fish eyes. You should check your equipment first (moisture in the air lines and compressor) Or contamination around the shop (armorall or wd40 being spray around the paint booth, or buffing compound containing silicone) and make sure the car is properly cleaned prior to paint, i usually will wipe down the panels 3-4 times with cleaners and degreasers. Hope that helps 😁👍🏻

Not sure never tested it, i feel like we are rebuilding and returning these cars back to life, with an outstanding repairs and paint I guess the thickness doesn’t matter, we are not restoring 1 of 1 unicorns so I feel like as long as we get the car back on the streets looking good as new, thickness don’t matter 😂👍🏻

Another great job 👏 Do you have to flat back the base coat before you spray colour? You just seem to paint colour over your base and don’t get orange peel.
Thanks! I do not do anything, i just keep spraying color. Since its the same basecoat but gray, so imagine just putting on 3 coats of orange. For Clear it’s important to apply your first coat like its your last, if you apply the first coat uneven or dry, the second will magnify this, and thus create orange peel and texture. 👊🏻😄

This car ahould have been painted with the OEM paint system from factory. If itwas, wonderful, more power to you. If it was not, 😳
Absolutely, we use the highest quality Paint made for all high end vehicles 👊🏻 Most exotics will have PPG written right on the color code Label
How’d you go about getting the colour? I heard you have to special order mclaren colours from either mclaren or akzonobel, or did you eye match it, or even just spectro it?
We have the factory Mclaren color code, we punch it into our computer and it gives us the formula using ppg paint
How do you estimate the amount of paint you use?
I mix as I need, meaning When i run out of paint i mix another cup, using the formula and scale its quick and accurate.
