Precious that your hubby bought you your own flowers.... no matter what he paid! It's the thought that counts. Don't give up - you've got this! My husband, who drove rural areas a great deal, would stop and pick fresh flowers growing in the ditches along the back roads - I LOVE natural flowers. You and I have great husbands! :)
I love your videos. You are a crackup! I love the way you show your struggles and it's so great that you keep persisting through it all, because that is life, full of successes and failures and it is all a learning curve. I'm sure things will improve for you with your tenacity.

Don't give up yet! Do you get a lot of traffic on your road? We are in the country too. Just because the first one wasn't successful, doesn't mean others won't be as word gets out!

Give the stand a chance next year, people need to get used to it. And make sure you put plenty of signs down the road so people have time to decide n pull off.
It cracks me up hubby bought the flowers, it was a very sweet gesture.

As someone who has a roadside stand. My observations are; Make it full and colourful otherwise no one stops - this of course means they need to see it. Offer choices.
1) $20 bouquets
2) Single dinnerplate dahlias in pop cans because my customers like to put the cans in their cup holders to keep the flowers hydrated and not tipping over. We don't drink pop or beer so I buy cans from friends and design customers. I go through a lot.
3) 3 small sized decorative dahlias (ball and/or cactus) also in a pop can.
Prior to dahlia season, I offer whatever is available as bouquets, jars and/or small vase arrangements.
Prior to that I offer 3 dafs or tulips growing in one gallon pots as well as pre-started dahlia plants..
I fill my stand up, otherwise sales are too slow.

I don’t have the traffic to open a stand but I’m not giving up on figuring out some creative solution that’s not technically a road side stand but is still functioning the way a stand would lollll 😂 I know there’s something out there that I’ll think of eventually

I think it’s sweet that your husband wanted to be your first customer. Even if he didn’t pay full price. Also, don’t feel bad. My husband picked MY tulips that I grew to give to me for Mother’s Day this year. 🤪
Try advertising your flower stand on local Facebook groups to get the word out. I am fortunate to get many tourist passing by my stand, but it’s the locals who keep us growing before Memorial Day and after Labor Day.
