What lesson or word is your garden teaching YOU this year?

My word is patience. It’s my first year gardening and I’m struggling but I’m viewing everything as a learning process. Even if it all fails, that’s ok. My process will get better, I will learn what plants like to grow in specific areas, when to start them indoors, or sow them directly. I love the cattle panel arch with the string lights! So magical.

This is my first year growing luffas. Seems like I might need to hand pollinate to get more than one or two fruits. 😂 the male flowers and the female flowers never seem to want to be open at the same time.

@@ellenrgiesler ooo please keep me updated! When it doubt, hand pollinate always! Mine hasn’t flowered yet and our first frost is approaching faster than I like to admit! What zone are you in?

I like the tulle suggestion! I was considering mosquito netting. I've tossed a mesh bird net over my blackberries the last two years after the berries have started to form. Inevitably, I forget to go out there and the canes grow up through the net before I can raise it. It becomes a big mess.

@@amandawills423 we actually started using the tulle for our blueberries and now use it for everything! That does sound like a mess though with blackberries 🙃 those dang spiky canes catch on everything! What variety do you grow?

@@MagicallyTaraSimone the Ponca variety. It's a thornless upright from the University of Arkansas program. They are pretty prolific, despite my being a neglectful gardener. 😅I have three plants that I keep trimmed down to one vertical cane each season for maintenance/small space reasons. They are fairly well behaved. I had a handful of canes that I dug out and gave to a friend this season, but they haven't wandered too far. The berries are pretty tasty right off the plant for snacking.
