- I show you how to to fix a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 phone (same for Z Flip 4) that has a black screen but you know the phone is on. In other words your screen just won't turn on but you can feel your phone ring, vibrate, maybe the cover windows is visible, etc. If this worked plz LIKE and comment which step worked for you. It's literally the sensors that detect the open and close, I can leave my phone open and never have a problem but as soon as I close it and open again it's just black, if I wiggle the phone at the crease it usually works but what's the point of having a folding phone if you can't use it!

Don't normally comment on videos but have to say my screen was black for 2 days. Tried everything multiple times except the freezer. 7mins in the freezer fixed it! Shame I've already got a new phone in that time but at least I can restore my things.

Wtff! z flip 3 didn't work for a week. Tried everything you said but doesn't work. last option 15 min in the freezer. really thought this didn't work that way. Did a soft reset again and screen came on. thank you.
Soooo Samsung told me it would cost close to $100 to fix my Galaxy Flip (first generation). After smacking it, while closed, a few times I fixed it for free!! Thank you so much for saving me $100 I did not have to spend on something like this

It's crazy having to "massage" a $1,000 phone just to get the screen working. Obviously it's a faulty design with bad connectors which should never be happening. smh

I just had this issue with my flip 3, I tried all of these methods, and sadly they didn't seem to work. But I left the phone at full charge in my car which sat in there for 24h under -5°c. Brought it inside and hit the power button twice and it turned on just fine. I've also found that if you just don't fold it, it helps with the issue.

absolutely bonkers to me that this is still an issue 2 years later, but here we are :'). the second method (spamming the power button, plugging it in, hard restart) worked for me. thank you for saving me time and money!!

This is not working for me and when I sent it to Samsung, they said I needed to replace the LED light. They said it was because I dropped it and I never dropped it and they wanted 300 to fix it. Could you assist please?
I have flip 4 and the screen got black while i was playing brallstar game. And only side slide was only working.

I’ve only had mine for 3 weeks and it went black on me tonight, I’m taking it back to Verizon tomorrow, I was able to restart it using your first method, thanks a lot. I’m not doing all of that smacking and banging on my phone in order for it to be serviceable. I may have to consider returning it if they can’t tell me why this happened all of a sudden and i haven’t dropped or damaged this phone in any type of way. Again thank you very much

The tapping method worked for me. It was switching the display off when I was opening the phone completely and now it seems to be working fine after the tapping. Samsung support suggested me to buy a new one. You just saved me $900. Thanks! :-)
Hey I'm having issues not being able to answer calls from the cover screen. It only gives me the option to open the phone to answer. I turned off the features to answer when opened and end call when closed, and still nothing. I soft resetted the phone and nothing. Cleared cache and nothing. Please help someone.

I rubbed it, tapped it, slapped it with no luck! Put it in the freezer.. RIP Z Flip! So sad as I have always been a Samsung fan..
P.S. If you are a T-Mobile subscriber in CA, do not tap the power button many times (as suggested in this vid) as it will call 911 automatically & if you can't see or touch the screen to respond, the police show up at your door! Then you have to explain what occurred listed above.....

you can turn that feature off in the menus - I did the same....

Hey thanks . The first step worked . Strange , It was opened and i was listening to spotify in my car and it just stopped working . i thought the battery was dead . It's only a month old .it's a great phone, but i hope it's not a hint of what to expect in the future. I'd be interested in knowing if it's a recurring problem from anyone with more experience with the phone.

I've had mine since release and until 2 days ago it worked perfectly fine, and i think the issue occured when i dropped mine and it hit my floor and sounded like it broke but nothing happened, occasionally it will open and then black screen but it's not too common for me

What worked for me was clicking the power button in and out a bunch of times. But I'm keeping your video so I can clear cache later. Why did Samsung take that capability out of the settings? Also, how did you learn how to clear cache on these phones? I always carry a second phone (work phone, but will buy one after I retire next year), which saved me today since I had to send some texts and so I used my backup phone until I got my Samsung fixed. Thanks!

Had mine for a month, woke up and the phone wouldn't open after unfolding it, when it did it had white lines and would give me a black screen. I hope the 1st method works. Nice to see your still making these videos for the new Samsungs🤙

Update on my comment* got the phone fixed through warranty. So I sold the phone and let someone else deal with it. First and last time I get one lol I'll wait till apple release a flip phone

This is the exact issue I'm looking a video for, it started doing this recently but the phone works absolutely fine but when i open it, it's fine but when it completely opens it black screens with white flashing lights ,have no idea what's wrong

Oh, wow! I have a Z Fold 3 and lost my front screen. I watched a couple of vids then ran across this one. Holding the power and volume buttons down for 15 seconds, and then switching to the up volume while still holding the power button until the built in diagnostic window options opened up, did the trick. I deleted the Partition Cache as you suggested after running the display diagnostic option which failed with an 'Error'. I didn't think it worked until I folded the phone while on a call, and voilà, up came the screen! Thank you so much! Save me a run to U Break We Fix.

For me this did not worked. But i dont have the same issue. My flip3 do not recognize touches. The scree works fine, showing everything, no lines or black blobs. I can use the phone with a mouse and otg cable. The phone is in good shape, wasnt dropped, not smashed.
I tried safe mode and restarting it, factory reset, software update, nothing worked. Have any tips for me?
I am thinking the screen digitizer cable got loose.

when mine folds for a few senconds and open it, it doesnt show the screen but closing and opening again does, and mine randomly gets the black screen of death sometimes

I followed your steps and it is doing better except after holding the buttons down the Samsung logo would only come on when the flip is closed. I will keep trying. It tells me when closed to open to unlock, but I cannot do that on a black screen. Thanks so much for your help.

The one I have is completely black , it was fully charged, wasn't dropped or messed with. When I put in the charger it makes no noise, however, when I use a reverse charge to charge it, my other phone does show that the phone is charging. Reset buttons don't work

Beware, pushing the power button rapidly caused 911 call , and now the phone called 911 a 2nd time with it sitting on counter !
Yea if u enabled sos emergency during setup or after then after 5 quick power button presses will call emergency line. If urs is enabled then just press 4 times.
I realized this and my phone called 911. So I'm not doing this

@@WorldofTech I stopped doing that. Right now, I've tried all the things you did. I was hoping massaging it would pop something back into place but I don't think the screen even functions anymore. Before, when I flip it open, I see a white line flash at the top left that disappears and I could actually feel a vibration when pressing on where the home button is but after massaging it, I don't feel any physical response. It may actually be dead. The cover screen still works though
So, the black screen seems to have come back on for part of the screen, but now there's large blobs of black across the screen. Any idea how to fix this?

thank you so much my phone working again i was getting so mad that it was not working at least I given my phone more time as I'm still saving for an new one don't think i will buy an flip again after about a year something goes wrong.
Unfortunately didn't work. My phone turns on just fine, cover screen works just fine, but my inner screen never turns on or responds to touch. I bought it secondhand so I can't get it repaired through warranty. Did anyone else have the same problems as me fix theirs, and if so how?

Mine started turning black after samsung replaced the screen protector. Now it's going back after only a week of usage. Good thing I have extended warranty..
My screen freeze and when i touch on any screen part it doesn't detect. After that i close the flip and open it again and it only show "samsung galaxy" with black screen. mine only cuts out when i open the phone fully ,if i close the phone and open it halfway it works but if i open all the way it cuts out .sometimes i can lock the screen and unlock while open and it comes back

So literally freezing my phone seems to have worked (for now). I noticed once I took it out a lot of condensation formed around the edges. I prompty dried the moisture off with a cloth. I'm no scientist but I'm curious if moisture trapped inside the phone was causing this.

I am now backtracking my phrase for this phone. It is cool when it works BUT after 4 months, I dropped it at a weird angle and now the screen is dead. I had a good case and it did NOT protect it from a 3 foot fall and slide. The screen flickered, then died and now I can't use the screen at all
