I'm looking back at this thinking: these tech reviewers saved Samsung. Imagine if they didn't peel the protector off and the first gen fold got into the hands of customers. There would be a mass recall. It'd be a PR nightmare.
That's the point of giving out to tech reviewers earlier it was Samsung plan all along. But at this point the 4th generation has come along and just getting more popular and refinement

maldita peppas ah, the classic defense method: misinformation Being called a name is common when being argued against, and defending yourself is one of the ways that most victims use. Defending yourself can be done in many different ways, though the most popular one is called "Misinformation". Misinformation is when you get called a name (Most likely stating how you are over-interested in some subject, or preform an activity that could be frowned upon by most of society,) and try to defend yourself by stating something that is completely unrelated to the name, but sounds like it is (Having mostly apple devices doesn't affect whether you're a Samsung fanboy or not; you could've owned apple devices and then became overly interested in Samsung, or your family could've purchased your devices for you, therefore not leaving you with the device that you prefer the most).

If the film is necessary, permanently bond it to the screen and run it up to the edge... From an engineering perspective this seems like a huge afterthought.
It doesn't. Amoled screens work without any protection. The problem here is that that screen is pretty fucking thin, even for most amoled models Samsung use. When you try to take off the film, you're just creating a force the screen just can't handle and you literally destroy the transistor matrix in that area, meaning you're screwing the entire screen. And then you're fucked, because Samsung won't give you any warranty for any of this.
At the very least there should have been a huge warning sticker right on the screen telling the user Do Not Remove The Protector Film!! Oh well... This sh*t was totally expected... I even posted about these flip/fold/B.S. phones going bad after some time in the unboxing video, though failure has happened way faster than expected. Oh well back to the true and tried one piece phones. Anything that flips/fold kind of mechanism will fail sooner or later, so they've gotta work it out so that the two panels butt together rather than physically bend.. that's the only way to guarantee any kind of longevity.
Everything is a comunity. Besides, I bet it was almost fully squashed by Samsung but they all realized in mass they could talk about it. This is why Communities matter.
Jonathan Kulesa Isn’t surprising from Samsung. My neighbor has been having issues with his one year old Samsung because Caller ID has suddenly stopped. Helped him out in every way possible but there was literally not a single fix for a feature that even a less than $200 home phone system can achieve without faltering.
"Didnt get to keep that footage" ???? @mkbhd blink twice if they are holding you hostage. Thanks for the great videos and always being open and honest.
@@spukduk5632 bruh he cut out the footage because he thought he made a dumb mistake, you're not gonna review a broken item. It wasn't until later did he find out that multiple people had the same problem.
No he just had to be careful what he says or else he will be painted as a hater. This phone is a joke and purely a marketing and press hype device which can’t get criticized because it’s a first gen product. This should of never left the prototype stage. The press, such as Marques wants people to be hype for folding phone yet I don’t see any practicality of a 2 in one yet. This is simply a prototype phone that’s purpose is to paint the picture that Samsung made a folding phone.

End of september 2023, inside screen for Fold4 is a big improvement. It looks like it is removed from the Fold 5. Completely silent hindge, much better crease, better quality image. It was fixed under warranty.
Maybe there is a good reason why they didn’t.. I mean Samsung is a great company with really good technical experience already, so there are perhabs still issues because it’s still the first generation.
Exactly, this has been what I was wondering. That plastic lip is the perfect opportunity to just protect it and hide the edges. Why did they ignore such an obvious design decision?
MKBHD: I have a server with terabytes of storage so I never delete any of my footage, I wanna keep everything I shoot. Also MKBHD: I kinda regret I didn't get to keep the footage.. We: Sure.
So I purchased the Z fold 3 just under a year ago, last week it developed the "Black line of Death". Why isn't there more discussion about this which is a massive design flaw in this model which should be highlighted resulting in a recall? On purchase the instructions and guidance state not to remove the inner screen protector BUT over time the material used becomes brittle and starts damaging the inner screen when pressed resulting in bubbling and eventual screen damage. The inner right-hand screen then ceases to respond to touch. This is a known issue that isn't but should be discussed and highlighted to protect potential buyers.
Good riddance, maybe we can finally stop being spammed by "DBRAND THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS" in every fucking tech video on the planet. Covering a beautiful piece of 1000 dollar aluminum/glass art, with a shitty plastic skin, no thanks.

Display issues on a folding screen? I never saw this coming. 😂😂😂😂

This $2,000 phone is literally held together by a "screen protector"... 🤦♂️🚮
Jonathan Kulesa 😂😂
Jonathan Kulesa Isn’t surprising from Samsung. My neighbor has been having issues with his one year old Samsung because Caller ID has suddenly stopped. Helped him out in every way possible but there was literally not a single fix for a feature that even a less than $200 home phone system can achieve without faltering.
Not really. It's an essential part of the device. Thus it is not a screen protector, but an actual part of the screen assembly.
Tulipg
Jonathan Jensen So you just glossed over the ones that DIDN’T remove the film yet still had issues? 🤔
All could’ve been avoided with a simple “do not remove” sticker
Not really. Even without it, the sticker seems to have collected dust and starts to peel. Such as Joanna's case.

If this protective layer is so important, why didn't they just expand the bezel lip over the layer?
So it's unpeelable and unreachable for particles.
I think it's so then if the layer gets badly damaged (on arrival for example), then it's easier to fix it.
it literally breaks when you try to remove it though.
@@Lucy-Hall doesn't make much sense.

@@briandbenson Tbf I did too, but if so he should say that
So I purchased the Z fold 3 just under a year ago, last week it developed the "Black line of Death".
If JerryRigEverything tests the Galaxy Fold, it would be the first phone ever to be killed before bend test.
lol
He should definitely do it.
