Currently reading The Hunger Games trilogy for the first time (I know I’m way late) so I can hopefully read Ballad this year. The most anticipated book I’m looking forward to is Christopher Paolini’s To Sleep in a Sea of Stars!! :)

    JESSE! You have to read The ballad of songbird and snakes!! I wanna know your opinion!

  • @jocelynar6165
    @jocelynar6165 4 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    the ballad of songbirds of snakes was rly good imo! I think it did a good job with showing us how the hunger games developed over time between the prequel and the trilogy, as well as showing us the backward thinking of snow. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, I did hear a lot of people disliking it :/
    edit: unpopular opinion: the cover is so stunning! I know people thought it was rly ugly, but to be fair, I did see it in person first, and I think it's prettier in person.
    edit: another unpopular opinion, Ik people were mad bc they wanted a book on haymitchs or another victors game, which is fair, but we already have 2 books focusing on the tributes in the game. im glad we got a whole new perspective from someone experiencing the games from the outside.

    • @eagann92
      @eagann92 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've only read the first Hunger Games book. Do you think I would be able to follow along in this prequel or would I need to finish the other books in the trilogy first? I'm not really interested in reading the entire trilogy but I am interested in this prequel because I've heard it leans more philosophical.

    • @sm92127
      @sm92127 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eagann92 you could just read tbosas without reading the rest of the trilogy if you want.

    • @gaby-zf8jj
      @gaby-zf8jj 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@eagann92 if you want you could read it without reading the others, but i strongly recommend you read Catching Fire and Mockingjay first. They are both amazing books and when you read those first I think it will make the experience of reading the prequel a whole lot better. I feel like you would dive deeper into Snow's mind because you would know the actions he made in the last two books. Plus there are a lot of references I caught that referred to the last two books and those are always fun to read. Hope you enjoy whatever book you decide to read 💕

    • @jocelynar6165
      @jocelynar6165 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @bluebell1611
      @bluebell1611 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      esteban Ramirez yes, I also thought the peacekeeper was the best part, but it’s still very good and it explained some stuff about Snow, like the roses

    • @nikoletak
      @nikoletak 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have listened to a full spoiler review and it sounds pointless as fuck and way too long for what it is🤦🏻‍♀️ I am like "thank you, but no thank you" for this one.

    • @nikoletak
      @nikoletak 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bluebell1611 The roses first came in the original trilogy late and became his thing at that point, so Suzanne Collins really fucked up with this one because it wasn't Snow's remark until way after. So in reality it was a very bad timeline and that shows. Also making Snow a lesser bad guy was stupid because it really doesn't excuse any of his actions in the trilogy. So this book was basically the downfall of the Hunger Games. I feel dissapointed.

    Firstly - the aesthetics in this video are top-notch! Secondly, I'm really glad that your reading is going well recently! You definitely made me interested in Keigo Higashino - weirdness of the stories sounds fascinating - and Justin Reynold's books. I also like grief explored in books, so I would love to pick them up.
    Outside the video, recently I started a reread of a childhood favorite series, Septimus Heap, and it has been such a fun ride. The focus on family dynamics is lovely. It's nice that despite everything happening books can bring such pleasure and escapism to us. I hope you'll get to your anticipated releases and enjoy them. Have a great day!

I tried several other channels but you’re personality and the general vibe of your video was so, so good and it made my day. You are just such a good and nice person! Thank you for uploading! I love your book choices and always enjoy your reviews. One thing to consider though, if you want to talk about spoilers you could just put the word spoiler (edit it in) at the top or bottom of the screen to signify that you are talking about them. When it goes away, people who haven’t read the books can skip to the part and watch again. Just an idea because i would love to know some of your more deep thoughts and know how you felt about the plot’s intricate details! Have a good day. + I am so behind on everything and i kinda want to read the cruel prince! Is it good?

    Another good grief book is The Lucky Ones by Liz Lawson. It focuses on two characters, May, whose brother died in a school shooting that she survived and Zach, whose mother is the lawyer defending the shooter, and it focuses on survivors guilt and how different people deal with grief and how they heal.

    The books to your questions
    1- Twilight Robbery (Fly trap for USA readers)
    2- Burn by Patrick Ness
    3- Never and Forever (Wizards of Once #4)
    4- The land of Roar
    5- The Ask and the Answer (Chaos Walking #2)
    6- Starfell - Willow Moss and the Lost Day by Dominique Valente
    7 - The Mayor (Chaos Walking). HM to the Weasley twins.
    8- Monsters of Men (Chaos Walking #3 - that ending)
    9- The Harry Potter books (take your pick, especially the earlier ones where there was less at stake)
    10- Crooked Kingdom (Collector’s edition)
    11- Mortal engines (the whole quartet)
    I’m currently having a fantastic reading year. I initially set my goal at 40 books, but I’m already at 32 books read, so I changed it to 50. I also have gone through some extremely popular ones including Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and The Fault in our Stars. Currently reading Eldest in the Inheritance Cycle.
