*BOOKS MENTIONED IN THIS VIDEO ARE YA & ARE FOR AGES 13+ | THE INTENDED AUDIENCE FOR THIS VIDEO IS 13+
"I'm a sucker for short chapters. Short chapters makes me feel like I'm flying through a book like wildfire. And they make me feel like the king of reading."
I can relate to that.
Right?! It's always nice to feel like you're a speed reader haha
Me too
Yes! Plus it's easier to stop reading without feeling like it's dragging on because I hate stopping mid chapter. Super long chapters (cassandra clare, I see you,) drag on when you're on a time crunch lol
I feel a little distracted with a book if chapters are long. So short chapters are great!
@@jessethereader Yes, it's feel like that

HAHAHA
I’m actually only reading one book right now and usually I’m reading 2 or 3 and I’m sad cause I’m not reading more books and I’m in a weird reading slump thing
Help me
@@islagrace9179 If I was you I will look at what books I have and pick up whatever that you are generally excited for. Whether it be an old favourite or a book that suits your mood or a book you have been anticipating. Whichever grab your fancy, grab and give it a shot.
And I do get about being sad about reading only one book. I have been there before.
I feel this on a deep level. I can't seem to pick up another book atm finished the boy who steals houses the girl who steals his heart and loved it. I'm trying to get into fantasy but can't atm I just need more ya contemporary
When you already love Jesse but then see MOTS 7 in the background and happiness just increases. Thank you

I was just wandering through TH-cam and then I saw Jesse's new video and I got very happy. ❤🎉

I've been super busy this year and have really neglected reading. I have a set number of books I also want to read before the end of the year and hopefully can keep from getting distracted enough to finish some. Thanks for helping us keep focus.
that's okay!! not every year is going to be a knock out reading year as hard as that is to accept. I hope you're able to get on track soon, but regardless the books will always be there when you're ready for them. :)
Thanks for the encouragement Jesse. I'll do my best.
free advice: u can get into The Wicked King, you won't regret it.
hahaha bless u
I read this book, I love it so much
I got so happy when I saw you just uploaded, you're one of my favorite booktubers
thanks so much!!
My only goal is to read one of the two million books on my tbr that I didn’t because I was too busy laying on my bed staring at the ceiling all of quarantine.
Same lol
The Strange the Dreamer duology was so good! I love it!
Okay Jesse, I need to tell you something! Not only do I absolutely LOVE your videos, but you really soothe me. Whenever I'm anxious, I put on your video talking about books and it soothes me so much and helps me sleep. Thank you so much for that. And your videos, recs, everything is just perfect. Thank you just being here for us!!
Ah! Thank you so much for this comment. I've been feeling MEH about what I've been creating lately, but this made my happy.
@@jessethereader You are the best Jesse and you deserve the best too. I hope everything soon will be fine for you. And don't for a second doubt your content, I absolutely love it. 💙
I am in love with that edition of The Wicked King!
It's super nice!
I'm gonna be honest, I only clicked because I saw the MOTS:7 album in the background 😭💜
hello fellow army :)
I stared at it trough the whole video 😅

I just can't wait until December. One, my birthday is in December. And two, CHRISTMAS WHICH MEANS I GET MORE BOOKS!

That wicked king book is beyond gorgeous!!!! I don’t even read fantasy and I want it so bad!!!
I really love short chapters! I personally feel like when a chapter is too long, it’s pretty hard to just read for like 10 minutes or so? And it just makes the reading experience more enjoyable imo!
I read the wicked king this past week and I LOVED IT!!!! I immediately got to the third book and I JUST CAN'T WAIT for the Cardan novella which is coming out this November!!!!! I loved the series so much!!!!🥺🥺
AH so happy to hear that!
Ohhh I still have a lot on my TBR. 🥺
- The Lost Man by Jane Harper
- Six of Crows Duology
- Peculiar Children book 4 and 5
- Dark Artifices book 2 and 3
And a lot more.
Oooh I hope you like the peculiar children books! Book 4 is so good!!!!
We stan the "I am enough" wallpaper. We all tryin to get that type of confidence🥴
I'm currently trying to finish my first reading challenge, and I have 8 more books to go before 2021. Currently reading Emma Cline's "Girls". Other books I have on my list are "Näkijän tytär", "Time traveller's wife, "The ballad of songbirds and snakes" "Q and A" (also known as "Slumndog millionaire"), "The exploits of Moominpappa", "Fathoms of the Fenlake" and "Nopeasti piirretyt pilvet". After this I have read more than 50 books during this year, and almost 20 times the amount I normally read.
jesse: sweater weather
me, a raging bisexual: *YESSSSS*
Bridge of Clay is in my top three books of all time! I was sad when people reviewed and reacted so negatively to it. I understand though; it's real and slow and character-oriented. Not a lot happens in terms of plot, but the characters are so genuine and lovable :))
I'm around 300 pages in and I'm not the biggest fan of it so far :( I can already tell why people probably feel MEH about it. It does lack plot, but I will say that I'm enjoying how focused it is on the characters.
@@jessethereader yeah I agree. I started reading it but then I kinda stopped. I reallly wanted to love it cause as you said, heck yeah, he is the creator of book thief but I lost mah patience :((
Yeah you are right. Its not really plot driven but i get what you mean when you say that the characters feel really real ❤❤
I love your videos! Interested in some of these 📚. My current Tbr is
#1 Illuminae (started)
#2 six of crows
#3 children of blood and bone
#4 The raven boys (started)
#5 The starless sea (almost done)
Yessss Strange the Dreamer is so beautiful! It's one of my favourites. I know you want to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone first but pretty please read Strange the Dreamer afterwards :)
Bookish and the Beast was so cute and lovely. I felt like the tie-ins to Beauty and the Beast were pretty loose. I haven't read the other books in this series, though, so I can't say how it compares. I hope you enjoy wherever your reading whims take you these next couple months!
I'm super busy with uni work atm, but I do wanna read Legendborn and Cemetery Boys over the Christmas break
Omg omg jesse is gonna read Daughter of Smoke & Bone I can't wait for him to love it!!!
🥰🥰🥰
Aaaahhhhh I’m so excited, Daughter of Smoke and Bone is my favorite series of all time and I can’t wait to hear what you think of it. I read them years ago but I still remember the first time I read chapter one and instantly knew I would love it completely. The romance is there and grows on you if you stick it out to see its layers unfold, but the FRIENDSHIPS are the highlight for me. Zuzana is my GIRL. I want to reread the books just for her (and also bc I love them of course). And that’s not even getting into how beautiful and poetic Laini Taylor’s writing is. I hope you enjoy!
I got really excited when you said you'll (try to) finally read Daughter of Smoke and Bone. It really IS better imo to go in without knowing much, I went into it without expecting much and ended up reading it in 2-3 days. The romance is a hit or miss with Laini Taylor as with my case with Strange the Dreamer but it's still a good book. Her writing is absolutely everything
The only books I’m reading are my school textbooks 😭😭😭
😭😭😭 hope you get to read some FUN books soon
The Geekerella books are always so fun and speak to our fandom hearts!! This year would've been my first year at Bookcon, but the universe really said NO. 😭 I can't wait for you to read TPW, Jesse!! 🥰
i’ll be sure to send you ALL my thoughts on TPW 😊
Hoping to finish the Darker Shade of Magic trilogy.. Halfway through book 2 and then pick up the Cruel Prince myself
Okay, but WOAH! What edition of The Wicked King was that? It was GORGEOUS!!
Strange the Dream is incredible! Really love it and haven't been able to get that feeling from a book since.
Daughter of Smoke and Bone is a series that I still think about years after reading it, so I hope you enjoy it!
This has inspired me to get in those reads before 2021 and finish off...whatever this year was positively :) Thanks Jesse
Here to add more books to my TBR as if it is not sky high enough. And because Jesse's videos always make me smile 💕
THE POPPY WAR IS SO WORTH IT. i bought it months ago and avoided it for so long because i was scared but i picked it up one day and i read half the book in one sitting it’s so good and real and historically rich i love it. i hope you like it too!
Yaaasss bookish and the beast! I love that series so much! I’m going to make a video about them and my fav contemporaries soon. You’ll totally love it!
I absolutely loved Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I read it a few years ago and it’s what got me into the fantasy realm! I’ve been wanting to pick up Strange the Dreamer for awhile now also!
My current read is The Diviner’s by Libba Bray - I’d like to complete all four books in the series before 2021!
Recommendation for a family drama (I dunno if u already read it): The Baltimore Boys by Joel Dicker. (part of the synopsis: Alexandra Neville, the beautiful, phenomenally successful singer and Marcus's first love. All at once, memories of his childhood come flooding back. Memories of a family torn apart by tragedy, and a once glorious legacy reduced to shame and ruin.
The Baltimore Boys. The Goldman Gang. That was what they called Marcus, and his cousins Hillel and Woody. Three brilliant young men with their whole lives ahead of them, before their kingdom crumbled beneath the weight of lies, jealousy and betrayal) It's been definitely a reading highlight for me...
ooh! I haven't read that, but I'm going to look into getting it! Thanks for the rec.
Hi! Thank you so much for making these videoss! They keep me so happy!
🖤
I really appreciate being introduced to SerialBox, thanks! The concept of having seasons for a story is super interesting, and the audiobooks are very atmospheric :O I never would have found this site on my own, cheers! 👍
I absolutely loved the Bridge of Clay! It was very slow but at the same time it was the kind of the book you want to read slowly to absorb better anyways!
You know it’s going to be a great day when Jesse uploads a new video!
ah! that makes me happy. i hope you end up having a great day!
I also feel in the same boat when it comes to Bridge of Clay, I feel like the “anti-hype” kinda made it DOA. If you’re looking for family sagas though, I definitely recommend The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende! It follows 4 generations of women through love and revolution, with ✨fantastical elements✨ sprinkled throughout.
I was just writing up my list of what I want to finish/read before the end of the year 💕
Ahh! Nice!
From Blood and Ash! I also ordered the illumicrate editions of TPW, so excited to read it!!
We love a good boi ™️ who don’t spoil books!💛
Bridge of clay has a beautiful cover, love that! That edition of TWK tho! Iread DoSaB and i liked it a lot like 4 years ago, a nice trilogy.
I wanna read the whole Throne of Glass saga (currently on it) - already watching your vids about them at time lol, and 22/11/63 by S. King, maybe Midnight sun too
the poppy war!! and dosab!!! both are absolutely incredible tbh!!
i read strange the dreamer a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it! i think you would very much enjoy the duology 🥰
I recently read bookish and the beast and loved it....🥰🥰
so happy to hear that!
Oh my gosh the ability to switch between audio and ebook is something I've wanted for EVERRRR
Bridge of clay is a very interesting read. You really have to be in the right mindset to read it. It is told in a very unique way and i felt the characters were well developed. Recommend !!!
i'm pretty deep into it now! i will say it's not my favorite, but something about it is keeping me engaged enough to continue on. interested to see how i feel about it by the end of it.
I was gonna go to sleep until i saw that jesse uploaded a video . SCREW SLEEP
LOL. get some sleep after you watch it. :D
Same here
It’s like 12am
I want to finally read The Princess Bride, and I want to finish Crooked Kingdom and read City of Ashes :) (Also I really want to get the new Holly Black book!)
My TBR Shelf is ridiculously full. but I am hoping to read quite a lot of books before 2021. The Invisible Life of Addie Larue by V.E. Schwab , A Dog's Perfect Christmas by W. Bruce Cameron, Puppy Love (Currently reading and slowly ) & Puppy Christmas by Lucy Gilmore, Try again to finish the Chronicles of Narnia Series (The Horse and His Boy was last one read and that one was struggle for me to finish), Geekerella which you mentioned I would also like to read before year is over, These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong, Anna and the Apocalypse by Katharine Turner , and The Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo.
jesse: “I hope you are staying nice and cozy!”
me going into an australian summer: 😀
The same way you felt about daughter of smoke and bone is how I felt about uprooted! It’s been on my shelf forever and I felt drawn to reading it recently!
daughter of smoke and bone is my favorite book of all time✨🥺
WOW! that's good to hear, but also makes me nervous... WHAT IF I DON'T LIKE IT 😭

where on earth did you get such a beautiful edition of "the wicked king"?! that's the prettiest version of any "folk of the air" book i've ever seen! 😍 (i'm really excited for the cardan novella coming out this november, so i hope you enjoy TWK as much as i did and keep reviewing the series :)
The Poppy War was so amazing! I need to get my hands on the third book
Your copy of 'The Wicked King' is stunning!!
Have you read I Am the Messenger? I also LOVED that one! Zusak is my favorite.
You should try to read Markus Zusak's The Messenger (or I Am The Messenger) it's honestly my fave from him before the book thief. And it's still my all time favorite!
I adore short chapters so much
Yessss The Wicked King🧝♂️AAHHHH! hope you enjoy it❤️

I like that your posting so much
You are literally my favourite booktuber
The Wicked King and The Queen of Nothing are both amazing! I binged the series! It was truly meeting my expectations! Do read it!
There are quite a few that I want to read by the end of this year. In October I started 'The Shining' by Stephen King and 'The lady's guide to petticoats and piracy' by Mackenzi Lee. So i know i'm going to finish those. After that my tbr is kinda in flux because i am also a mood reader but 'Loveless' by Alice Oseman keeps catching my eye and having fallen in love with the first book, I really really want to get to 'Wundersmith' by Jessica Townsend.
There is also some books that I'm considering removing from my shelves, but can't decide yet because I haven't actually ever read them- looking at you 'The Casual Vacancy'.
i had like a huge reading slump, but if you ever need like a suggestion for books (you may have read this series idk) i would say read the Dorothy Must Die series. its amazing i couldnt get over it after i finished the first book.
I am in such a desperate mood to binge read but I am having trouble picking new books. So thx for this video ❤️❤️
hope you find something you like soon! :D
ive never been this early! i love jesses videos so much, they always make my days better

I want to read A Darker Shade of Magic, Queen of Air and Darkness, and Crooked Kingdom before 2021 😊 halfway through darker shade but I'm such a slow reader so hopefully I'll make it!
Finally! Someone who also doesn’t like beauty and the beast Disney 🙈 I feel like it’s the favourite of the whole book community 😝 Buddy reading is the best! And poppy war is a solid read 👌🏾 I should really read Geekerella already as I’ve had it forever 😭

I’m hoping to read Ember Queen, The Year of the Witchling, Unbirthday, Empire of Gold, TheTower of Nero, Silvered Serpents and Mistborn.
AH! So many good books. I'm sending you all the good reading vibes!
I enjoy being able to flip between audio and ebooks depending on where I am or how I feel
Bridge of clay is my favourite book of all time! I've read it twice and will be making a third round of it in November. It's a super hard-hitting story of grief and loss and internal turmoil. It's got a super rough and tumble band of brothers (outsiders vibes), that play hard and love hard. There are stories within stories and ultimately forgiveness is more than one respect. I adore this book so much! I always assume everyone who reads it will hate it but looking forward to seeing what you think!
(Ps. Literally nothing like the book thief. Just pretend the book thief doesn't exist. Totally different vibe!)
Poppy War has been on my tbr forever, too! I want to read classics like The Tale of Two Cities and Grapes od Wrath asap, but I wont manage this year. I havent been reading much, so I might make a video about books I'm excited for in 2020 as well, it would be my motivation. Thanks for the video, you always seem so cheerful! :D
