I love How to do Voices so much. Like half of his videos I watch I tear up a bit because of how much emotion he can put behind his words. It’s actually beautiful

NO YOU MISSED THE BEST PART OF THAT SECOND ONE!! Thats from a podcast called Cast party and SPOILERS
Eli uses one last counterspell and he's given the chance to clutch it if he rolls a 19 or higher. HE ROLLED EXACTLY 19 AND HE FUCKING LIVED!!

One of my players did this in my most recent campaign. I was having them go through trial and they had to find the non-poisonous plant. I was making them roll 19 or higher for a con save and he FRICKING DID IT! He ate the wild parsnip and fricking lived!!!!

4:32 😂 feel called out. See, I join a lot of tables who have ongoing games. When I do that I tend to sound out not just what the dm tells me but what the players tell me of the campaign and their characters. Then I form a character that can bring together those themes and plot threads and mechanics. I get told a lot that I “should play what you want to play.” But as Brennan Lee Mulligan has said before, this is how I like to play. Anyway, so yeah, I write out backstories according to all that I gather. Don’t mistake this as me being a people pleaser though. I just like to make my character feel like it’s living and breathing through me and can be latched onto by the other players’ characters in ways that feel organic and unique. I still write my characters to tell their own story from their perspective, but yeah, I don’t make main characters. I make support characters, usually socially or emotionally, and a few times, morally. Right now my newest one has a vibe of a caretaking eldest sibling. The party has leaned into that vibe as it is exactly what they needed, from our nervous wizard, to our battle scarred monk, to our peppy cleric, and the other two characters too. I created that one to vibe with the themes and nature of all of them in a unique way and even tucked in some backstory stuff that if it comes up, will be interesting for the rest of the party to react to. I have fun. This is definitely an area I find a lot fun for in the game.
