If you are at all into playing a TTRPG you should check out DIE. It's actually really similar to the premise of this campaign. The players create ordinary people to play as, and then create their RPG characters with powers and abilities, and then they play as their ordinary people TRAPPED in the bodies of their RPG characters.

Or rather, each character has two sets of abilities, so some people adapted it into a version where two different characters played by the same player have the same set (while in NSBU, the "real" persona doesn't affect the mechanics). And it’s easy to do in FATE. Also, "troupe style play" is a pretty old thing a lot of people and systems do. It's how a lot of people played OD&D, even.

The Last Action Hero isn't an ensemble cast but rather has a single protagonist. The Last action hero isn't about solving the mystery of the world in order to return to their own. Both Jumanji and this campaign has pretty clear up-front premises about being types of games, even within their own universe. "Getting sucked into an action movie" are just the trappings, not the story or world structures or the characters' relation to them.

Synopsis (abridged): group of work friends centering around a mall video rental place get Jumanji'd into a VHS of an action flick, sort of similar to Last Action Hero.
Oh man this is gonna be a great season. I love seeing a cast brought together that we don't always see a lot. Most of this cast I've only seen in one or two seasons and loved them all. Great to see Jacob joining the dome too, I am loving the energy he brings with Dang. Also I like how when Brennan was describing our Awesome Action Heroes getting sucked into Never Stop Blowing Up, Jacob was mimicking the classic 'falling down the rabbit hole' motion, it's exactly what I was thinking. Also I can tell the production value has gone up between these last couple seasons I've watched. Getting these longer, super stylistic intros, the live backgrounds inside the dome, and now these cool animatics during certain action scenes? You spoil us. The dome has always been a magical place but I'm glad to see the show growing, and Dropout investing in it more, even if at the end of the day it might not be "necessary". It's like the toppings that enhance the rich story telling ice cream of Brennan and the gang, turning it into a delicious sundae of art. Just wanted to give a shout out to the totally radical job everybody bts in the production crew is doing. Edit:Spoilers Holy, and Jacob explodes twice on his first role in a very dangerous situation! That was so hype
My absolute sorrow that Zac is not in this season with Izzy to give us more of their magical interactions from Coffin Run is tempered by how awesome this looks!

I know this is a bold claim, but so far I think this is one of the funniest seasons yet. Episode 2 had me wheezing laughing the entire episode. Just an absolutely perfect cast!
This is my first time watching something like this. The story developing between these people and their characters and characters is really exciting. I teared up a little. I'll be eagerly awaiting the continuation, the explosion has only just been ignited. 💥💥💥

Opening and closing the freezer over and over letting everything warm up like a band of knaves? Are you pouring up ice trays the night before like Sisyphus? Nay, you text three of those invited most endeared to you to bring a cooler each and for 6 bucks in quarters from the change jar you get 30 POUNDS OF ICE and make off like bandits in the night, and guess what, if you need more, tis only a few single for another 30 POUNDS OF ICE and a short trip up the road. Have you never had an ice maker go out? And not wanted to live in utter squalor, guess what for the same amount of money you and your family have ice for the week. How dare you good sir, insult the good name of the humble giant ice making machines.

I had my friend watching this yesterday on Dropout during a car trip, and he was kinda relaxing, eyes closed because we both get car sick if we look at screens while moving too long, but as soon as he heard "THAT'S COCAINE." he doubled over laughing.
