    The section about your son and the parent lock, very helpful, i have a 7 year old boy who has asd... i was nervous about the balcony when im asleep. Youve reasured me a lot. Excited for our first ever cruise.

      So glad to hear that Tracey. Yes we were definitely worried: our boy is very "active." But once on board, I didn't stess about it once. By the second or third day, we let him take himself to the sports centre without any worries. (He is a great swimmer though, so water isn't an issue for us).
      I think you can rest your mind. We felt very safe with him, despite our initial worries.

    Great review. We did this ship last Jan and are doing it next Apr to Hawaii. Being from Adelaide I’m a Coopers man too, I wish they had it all over the ship but I enjoy Heineken.

      Thanks Axl, I appreciate you letting me know. I'm also thinking of that trip to Hawaii, or back from Hawaii. It's cheaper than buying 5 plane tickets if you get the right sale!

    I disagree with your comments about the MDR. The times are 5.00 and 7.30 unless you are doing MY time, so if you stick to your alloted time there is no queueing, you go straight to your table each night. Each table has a waiter and a drinks waiter, so simply asking would have got you a quick response. Also holdi g your card up at head he8ght usually gets you a drinks waiter pretty quick. The food is exceptional, it just depends on your tastes. Dress appropriately in a shirt, not a Tshirt. It is a great way to teach your children about appropriate attire and using a menu, placement of cutlery Also the Casino does close. Around 2am, and is not open when you are in port.

    • @motivatedtravel
      @motivatedtravel  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There were two queues on our voyage. One for MY time, and one for the people with a locked times. Both were long, but the MY one didn't really move.
      As mentioned, I think we just got there at a bad time, but not sure if that's enough of an excuse for the experience we had with waiters and food. That said, I'm glad to hear others have not had those issues and I appreciate you bringing that to light for others.

    Thanks for the tour and especially your comments. I was looking if a super short cruise of just 3 days (2 nights) was something to try on a bigger size ship like the Quantum of the Seas. I think we might give it a miss. So far we've done 6 cruises (without kids as they are adults now), with NCL (Hawaii Islands x2) and P&O, (B'ne-Cairns and back x2, the Pacific Islands and New Zealand). We are those 'Boomers' (early 60's), you mentioned (haha) and I suppose the reason they are so early for the shows at night is because they also tire quickly. They need their sleep and leave earlier from the public places to retreat to their cabins. But, I might be wrong of course. I might be a boomer, but I still work also and I'm exhausted early every night, even if we do nothing all day onboard ship. We do venture out though, whenever there's the possibility. In Hawaii, we hired a car on every island we visited and we've seen so much, it's unbelievable. It was great to see your kids had such an amazing time. I think they would enjoy themselves just as much on any other cruise line ship though. A suggestion -if you don't mind- you could in the future negotiate with your kids before you go on holiday/cruise, that video games/Xbox stuff/Phones etc is not an option (because you said that you really want them to experience other stuff). If the kids don't want to agree on this, then don't go. You could still get away with this for 3 years or so, 'cause when they're 15, oh man, it's harder then. Again, thank you for the tour. Great stuff.

      Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to the video. Lovely to hear your experiences, and indeed, your knowledge on what I have to look forward to (or not) when my kids are a few years older. Sorry to paint such a broad brush when referring to boomers. My dad and mum are in their sixties and are two of the most active people I know, so it's unfair.
      I was more putting pressure back on the cruise line itself to be a bit more proactive in offering family-focused opportuities here and there. I'm sure this can be done without taking away from what's already working well for other demographics.
      I'm looking to do a a cruise to Hawaii in the near future, so hopefully will get to live out the experience you mentioned soon. Next up I think I'm doing a short Celebrity Cruise from NZ to AU, so very interested to see what that ship is like.
      Thanks again for watching and posting.

    I get what you’re saying about fixing things up during Covid, but these cruise lines were hemorrhaging money during Covid and didn’t know if or when they would be back in business. Royal Caribbean alone lost almost $6 billion US in 2020 alone. They were not focused or concerned about updating curtains.

    • @motivatedtravel
      @motivatedtravel  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yet they were building Icon of the Seas. I see your point, but personally, I'm siding with the consumers over the company on this one. At the end of the day, whether there was COVID or not, some minor things could have been refitted. COVID seemed like a good opportunity to do it since they were not in use.

    We are sailing on quantum March 2024, we splurged on a loft suite with the genie so we are excited to see if our experience will be completely different to when we “slummed it” in a balcony cabin a few years ago on ovation 😂 apparently the North Star isn’t operational at the moment and quantum will be going into dry dock next November

      @motivatedtravel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Corey, I appreciate you letting me know. Maybe I didn't notice as much as I've got kids, but I didn't think there was that high a proportion of children. Maybe 10% to 15% of the people. There are significant sections of the ship you can go and see very few kids, too. The whole solarium is kid-free, and various bars.

      Thanks mate, I'm glad you enjoyed it. We did the late January trip (Jan 19 departure). So pretty close to your planned dates. I'm sure you'll have a great time. Planning to put up a bit more content about the shore excursions and specialty dining when I get a chance, too, which may help.

    • @motivatedtravel
      @motivatedtravel  หลายเดือนก่อน

      The buffet and the dining hall, as well as the pizza place, and a few other snack-like spots, are all included at no extra cost. Only. the signature dining experiences cost more.

    Hey we are doing this cruise in December.
    Could you please let me know where you were in the video where people were jumping and swinging of the trees and swimming? Was it a shore excursion? It looks beautiful

    • @motivatedtravel

      You'll have so much fun. It's called Blue Lagoon in Vanuatu. I've actually got a whole separate video on it that I will try and put live in the next few days for you. We didn't do a shore excursion. We got off the boat and paid a local to drive us there.

    Which internet package did you have? One is just for emails etc and the other is for streaming. I'm hoping it's better for us next year.
    We're doing 7 nights south pacific

    • @motivatedtravel
      @motivatedtravel  ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought we had the surf + stream, but looking at the website both packages say they can stream movies so now I'm not sure. They use Starlink, which is getting better all the time at least. You may have a much better experience well over a year after my trip. You'll have fun regardless, I'm jealous.

      Ohh, tell me more. What happened?!

    • @motivatedtravel
      @motivatedtravel  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@John1974 Ah, that's a real shame. We had free port shuttles one our trip in the South Pacific, so that's interesting. Agree that in this day and age, internet should be included. I also didn't like the main dining room service on this ship (although it was good on my previous voyage). Random charges isn't something I've suffered, but I have heard about it a bit from others, too. I am jealous you experienced Alaska, however. Very keen to do that!

    We were considering a cruise until we saw this. If this bogan is allowed on a cruise ship it speaks volumes as to the types we’d have to endure.
    I doubt he can do up a shirt with buttons let alone grasp the concept that one dresses for dinner
    This person has saved me from ever cruising

    • @motivatedtravel
      @motivatedtravel  ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Thank you so much for staying away from cruises, everyone else really appreciates it. To think that the rest of us almost had to endure such a hateful and snobbish individual such as yourself. I was pleasently surprised by the diversity of people on the cruise ship, all having too much fun to care about the likes of you.
