  • Ian and I took a 5-day trip to AK to climb one of the big routes in 50 classics. We were the first to climb this route since the Smiley's 11 years ago. Mount Fairweather has absolutely amazing position only 10 or so miles from the coast, and the scenery was incredible the entire way up. We were the only people in the range for the duration of the trip, and we had pretty decent conditions/weather compared to most attempts.
GPX track and trip report can be found on my AllTrails.

Thanks for sharing. I climbed Fairweather in 2007 with Mountain Trip. I didn’t film it just all photos but that’s the memory I have. Took same plane. Got very lucky with weather. Respect that you followed rules with drone.

Hard to believe 2 dudes can go do this for less than $5000… it’s world class IMO… amazing video. ☮️

@@WW-sj7zk thanks! Yeah that’s about as cheaply as it could be done unless you live in Haines or something.

Excellent video and an inspiring message at its conclusion. Congratulations on the incredible accent and adventure. Glad it all worked out regarding the tense flight situation and dynamic weather. Hope to see you soon!

If the will and desire to climb is there - climb. The climbing communities over (and under) justifications and philosophy is weighing unnecessary weight on the simple means of intuition and passion. The great apes try to out smart themselves (usually out of fear). Be the light and chase it while you can (doesn't have to be climbing - but isn't anything all the same anyway? A choice with ultimate consequence). Sick climb.
