    I use to fish there a lot. Was a lot of tarwine and the occasional pinky at night. I dont think they're around anymore.
    Rous head I caught monsters inside the harbour where the ferry leaves. was huge skippy too. would bust me off all the time.
    also Had quite a few run ins with security there.

    Mate loving the videos. Not long moved from the UK and grabbed a 1-3kg rod and this is the type of video I needed for ideas and what’s on offer in WA. Keep it going 🤙🏼

      hey mate, thanks a lot! I was just talking to a guy out fishing who's in the same boat as you. Definitely some different fishing options here compared to back in the UK - exciting stuff! And you're right - the ultralight is the way to go here for consistent fun. Glad you enjoyed! Let me know if you have questions - the world of fishing youtube can be a bit misleading for someone new to Perth- land based Mackerel and Tuna videos down at Ammo Jetty get a lot of views but aren't necessarily reflective of what you can expect. As I said though - plenty of light tackle options that are well worth your time, especially coming into summer!

      @@LightTackleAnglerWA I love my light lure fishing. We have plenty of Perch fishing back in the UK (you call them Redfin).
      Can’t wait to get out and species hunt for stuff here. Got Bream, Flatty and Herring on the radar first and hopefully who knows what else. 👍🏼

    Hey mate, just thought I'd share but on bathers beach area (freo) on the right hand side near the mole rockwall, giant herring (aka milkfish) swim through there in schools. I managed to catch a few during summer (end of the year to beginning of the year) with a 20g halco lure. They give a good fight and are super fun to catch bcs they jump out the water just like herring/tailor but only there are wayy bigger!
    edit: good time range I've found so far for them are like 12pm to 3pm. You have to cast right past the shallow into the dark area so may have to walk into the water possibly knee/waist level depending if its low tide or not.

    Another really good video, master of the light tackle game ✅ nice chilled vibe & easy to watch. You have a chest mount or neck mount thing for your camera? Catches the action really well. I use head cam a fair bit but I find I miss a lot of the action with it haha 😆 🎣✅

    Forgot to ask, what was your setup there? Looked like a Daiwa Infeet and a TD Black reel?

    • @LightTackleAnglerWA
      @LightTackleAnglerWA  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yeah, daiwa infeet 732 and td black 2500d. I have fancier stuff but honestly this combo is 95% as good as even the most expensive one - works great for any type of light tackle fishing.

    • @thetoyota86perspective54
      @thetoyota86perspective54 ปีที่แล้ว

      @LightTackleAnglerWA I agree the Infeet are one of the best value rods I've used. I personally have a 722 ULRS and for me it's the perfect hardbody/jig setup. Soft in the tip so you don't pull hooks but heaps of backbone. Usually my go to rod for the type of fishing you're doing. I've paired mine with a 1K Stradic FL for an ultra light setup and pulled in decent size pinkies, flathead and salmon on this setup.
      I'm a Shimano man mainly but I love the light rods Daiwa comes out with especially the Infeet series

    • @LightTackleAnglerWA
      @LightTackleAnglerWA  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thetoyota86perspective54 totally agree mate. Also a fan of shimano reels, i have a vanford that i've been too lazy to service but is arguably better than the td black. as you can tell I spend way too much on this stuff but everybody spends too much on something hey!

    bro do you think you could give me a couple tips on a good light weight setup, been out lately a few times but catching 0. would love to get stuck into some herring on lures if you could give me a few tips. any particular tide or time??

    • @LightTackleAnglerWA
      @LightTackleAnglerWA  ปีที่แล้ว

      hey mate, as with most forms of fishing, I actually think that tide trumps time. On a basic level i'd say a few hours either side of high tide is ideal, but at a lower tide you can still find fish if you find structure like dropoffs. If you're south of the river, South Beach is a good place to start. It has more structure than other beaches in the area. Between Freo and Trigg there are plenty of beaches with reef or weed like south cott, leighton or grant st (an old favourite). North of Trigg has great ground, North Beach has herring and even yellowfin whiting (kind of a secret spot but this comment is way too long for anyone else to read). Herring don't need much chop (wind) so a light easterly is great. Hope this helps

    • @LightTackleAnglerWA
      @LightTackleAnglerWA  ปีที่แล้ว

      also any light 1-3 or 2-4kg rod will do well for microjigs, heavier rod will cast heavier lures like halco twisty. 2000-2500 size reel, 4-10lb braid, 4-10lb leader.
