    I see you said you did thin it according to the viscosity cup. Did you use the 1.0 or the 3.0 gun? I see a reference to the 50seconds which indicates you used the 1.0. What air setting were you at? Last question about how much material were you using? Or how far were you depressing the trigger ? Were you using the trigger stop. The paint did look like it laid very well by the way.

      I used both guns with the same paint mix. The detail gun was set close to the max flow and the big gun was set close to the minimum flow and the results were very similar. The paint mix wasn't very critical, by the end of the first job I was eyeballing it. Just be careful on vertical surfaces not to apply paint too heavy. Better to do more coats than to fix sags and runs, and a light coat dries fast too. I had the blower at max for everything. I got more spatter with a slower turbine. Hope that helps.

      That absolutely helps. Thank you very much.

    The pattern adjuster is not the dial thing. The pattern adjuster is the gray piece with two fin like tips that come out from the face of the gun. The dial adjuster is the pattern size adjustment. You can have a horizontal or vertical fan or a circle then you can have all of those in bigger or smaller size.

    Hey Wood! I appreciate the video I’m picking this sprayer up for a $100 on Facebook market it’s brand new so I got a good new I’m using it for a water based stain and water based paint for a exterior. Something I think you should add is Joe to thin your paint so it sprays correctly other than that wood I appreciate you brother! Take care my friend good painting by the way!

    Thank you for this video. I am utilizing Sherwin-Williams emerald paint as well, and was unsure if this sprayer would be able to spray it. Did you have to thin it at all?

      Thank you for the feed back. Yes the emerald paint needs to be thinned quite a bit. I, more or less, followed the instructions using the viscosity cup for 50 seconds. I generally eyeballed ½ the cup at around 25 seconds. With the finish gun you'll need to stick close to this as I had the flow maxed but on the big gun you can probably go thicker as I had the flow on this gun at minimum. I didn't notice any difference in the end result between thinned and un-thinned. In fact I had to roll a couple door frames and you couldn't see any difference.
      This paint is very forgiving as long as it is laid down, if you have runs or pools they are a bear to fix. This paint makes a very hard finish that bonds and wears well but it is just a tad on the rough side. hope this helps.

    What type of paint do you recommend on the avanti for these types of jobs, on cabinets etc?

    • @dymarke
      @dymarke  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I've only done two cabinet paint jobs and the customer required SW Emerald on both jobs so I'm not really a good one to ask. That said, the Emerald paint did a great job. It was very forgiving and laid down beautifully. The cured paint is hard and durable but has just the slightest roughness. Make sure to use a good primer. You can shoot horizontal surfaces quite heavy but go light on vertical surfaces, runs are brutal to fix because it's so hard. Thanks for checking out the video.

      It did look good but it will show everything, dust, scratches, chips.

    I bought the basic Harbor Freight unit and the Avanti would have been a better purchase.

      I almost bought that one but glad I opted for this one, it worked well and was a good price.
