The Enter Sandman cover was posted in July 2014 when they were just kids goofing in the basement, and this Liceo concert was only 11 months later (June 2015) where they are pro-recording demo songs to submit to Berklee School of Music to prove they're talented enough to succeed since the lower age limit for Berklee is 15. Ale and Pau also had to attend a one-week class prior to the 5-week main course, I assume to prove they have the maturity and teachability to blend in without disrupting the other students, all of whom paid a $10k tuition. That pressure to fit in among adults was an additional part of 15yo Dany's stress when she wrote "When I'm Alone", in addition to being homesick.
The guy in the red shirt in the background beaming with pride is Pablo González (Sarre), a great (Grammy nominated) Mexican Jazz/Jazz-Fusion Bassist, and Ale's teacher. Ale's father, Luis, a huge fan of Pablo and his band Los Claxons, became friends with Pablo when they were younger. Luis asked Pablo to teach Ae bass. Pablo started just as Ale's bass teacher and immediately realized how phenomenally talented Ale was; a generational talent. It was Pablo, after the "Enter Sandman" video went viral, who told Ale, Dani, and Pau, to start working on original music as they were too talented to just be a cover band. Pablo then worked with all 3 sisters, teaching them how to compose, then how to edit their own songs, and finally how to produce their music.
That little bass wizard always played far beyond her years. She hit the ground running and never, ever held them back. "Don’t worry big sisters, I got this!" And boy was it true.
Love this cover of Muse. Another great Muse cover they did is "Resistance" which they recorded about 7 months before this in The Warning Cave. It really showcases Ale flawlessly switching from using a pick to using her fingers and back again. Dany shows her versatility doing they keyboard and guitar parts and singing, of course. And Pau kills it on the drums with amazing control of dynamics.
Yes, the year after. This was the last day of school 2015. Their debut EP was out, they’d been on Ellen & were planning on summer at Berklee. This show was basically a video resume to show Berklee their current level (hence the cover songs featuring each member & original songs to display their writing/composing).
Yeah, the Berklee Summer Program had a minimum age of 15, so Ale being 10 and Pau being 13 was a tricky hurdle... and this video was part of what made Berklee allow them in, even being younger than standard for the program. :-) They still had to attend some sort of preliminary course prior to the proper Summer Program to find where exactly to place them, though. In the end, they were treated basically like any other student. :-)
Those kids had no idea what they were witnessing. I often wonder how many of them realize now that they’re older how special that was and the video is still being watched by people all over the world.

There is a video of them doing an instrumental of hysteria 2 years earlier than this performance (done in the cave). Young Ale I think she was only 8 at time had mastered the basics of hysteria in just one year from taking up the bass. Ale’s scowl of concentration was priceless.
Dany has got the recognition she deserves too. Now she has a Gibson gifted from Lzzy Hale, one PRS Orianthi personal stock and one Martin gifted by Matt Belamy. I’m not entirely sure why random bass playing gods aren’t gifting Ale basses like Dany gets guitars… Ale’s shyness might be part of it, but it might be jealousy as well. As a bassist, i see so much insecurity being flexed as superiority by bass players… meanwhile Ale is simply better than most of them in her genre, while having extreme cool self control where she doesn’t show off (well other than her flex in this video lol overhand!?!?!), and she’s probably super picky still about basses also. She was offered a spearfish bass by the luthier that made the guitars for Dany back in the day, and Ale tried but didn’t like it so refused it. She’s never a follower and only does what SHE feels is best. Amazing young lady!
IDK if Ale would accept a bass from anyone if it wasn’t a Spectre. I’d like to see her play the same bass Aria from FTF plays. That’s one cool bass with sound and tone at least equal to Spectre. IDR the brand name of the bass but I know it’s made in Canada and a lot of studio bassists use them.
I’ve always found it interesting, that their school peers at this concert were seemingly more familiar with TW’s original songs than their covers. Crowd footage during their originals show their classmates singing along, seemingly knowing all the words.

Two of them (Ale and Pau) needed special permission as they were both to young to normally attend the program, which is for high school students. Dany wrote the song "When I'm Alone" while at Berklee about her experiences of homesickness while in Boston.

Yes. Ale was trying the over the neck move more recently and wasn't quite getting it (I'm sure she would with a little bit of practice). So, she may be herself impressed watching this performance. I can almost feel the right hand forearm locking up and the picking fingers stripped raw after that relentless marathon performance. At least that's what I feel she may be looking at after playing the last note. They always leave it all on the stage.

The girls never really show off, but Ale needed to in this song, because this is the video they used to apply to the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and Pau and Ale weren't even old enough to attend the program, but they were admitted based on their skill levels. They would have been 15, 13 & 10, here (I believe). I think they covered "The Pretender" (Foo Fighters) that day, too, so Pau could showcase her skills as well. Ale's a prodigy. The 3 sisters received scholarships to Berklee College Of Music. It's 15 and over. Ale was 10. Dani qualified; Ale, a child, didn't. This performance was for Berklee. Ale's pure talent; such an assertive perfectionist it scares Dani and Pau. Ale made sure Berklee had to take her: playing the incredibly difficult Bassline from Muse's "Hysteria,"; part of it over the top of the fret-board as a flex. Berklee: "Ale; Sorry, you're a child." Ale: "I'm playing Muse's "Hysteria" Bassline with a flex as if it's nothing; You'll take me". Berklee: "That's impossible little girl!" Ale: "Hold My Juice Box." (At 9 Ale was already a Jazz prodigy playing Jaco Pastorius' catalog). I first saw DPA when Ale was 16: I watched in awe; a 16 year old world-class Jazz Bassist playing Rock. How? I could hear influences of masters like Jaco Pastorius and Stanley Clarke. David Bendeth produced "Error" with DPA. Bendeth stated: "Ale's up there with the greatest Rock Bassist of all time.' Bendeth compared Ale to Chris Squire and Geddy Lee.

When I first saw this video, I thought Ale was reaching over the neck because her hands were so small at her age and maybe that was the only way she could reach some of the notes. But there is another video of her playing it at an events younger age where she doesn’t need to move her hand like that. It sounds like she may have made a little mistake during the intro, but she just plays through it and nails it otherwise. I love Asterism as well having discovered them about the same time as I found The Warning and Band Maid. I always have a special place for 3 piece groups having spent most of my younger years playing in 3 piece bands.
Asterism has a new song out, Crescendo, an anime opening. Hal-ca sings on it and she's frankly fabulous. The whole band is great and it's a really good song. I know there might be instrumental purists fans of theirs who don't like it but they still do their thing on their instruments and tbh the song has a more mature structure that their other songs have lacked. Having a vocal part opens up possibilities. Not everyone can compose instrumentals like Kanami.

Ale has fairly long fingers which suites her well as a bass player. I’d imagine that would have held true to some extent as a 10 year old as well playing a 3/4 scale bass even though I think I read the neck width is similar to a full scale. I think most of us have seen the comparison shot of hand size between Ale and Dany by now which was kinda interesting.

I think I read that Ale needed to do the overhand tap because her hand couldn't reach the top strings from the bottom. So, out of necessity!

Ale has fairly long fingers which suites her well as a bass player.
I’d imagine that would have held true to some extent as a 10 year old as well playing a 3/4 scale bass even though I think I read the neck width is similar to a full scale.
