WHY AM I DONG IT THIS WAY?
A lot of channels do Patreon or TH-cam Memberships at a cost to the viewer which puts a lot of content behind a paywall, meaning it is pay to view, and a large amount of the subscriber base miss out on a lot of content, or the quality of the content available to non members reduces. I don’t like this approach.
My way - EVERY one will get to see ALL content. If you aren’t in a position to donate - you still get to see ALL content and your current experience of the channel will NOT change at all. If you do want to support the channel then you get to decide how I prioritise the videos.

Diana is a Polyphonic Dramatic Contralto, her natural low register is filled with overtones creating the polyphonic effect (what people describe as two notes at the same time).
Her voice is unique on this world and no one else can do what she does, this videos does not even show her full capabilities she can go both lower and higher, her overtones are crazy and she can manipulate them to an unearthly degree.
People are calling her the queen of goosebumps , there is just no performance of hers that does not evoke that feeling.
You should just listen to more from her, she is surely the most powerful and greatest female voice right now and she is so young, 18 years old on the video you watched and she just turned 21 now.
I suggest listening to her STUNNING cover of Chris Isaak's "Wicked game" next, you will get more of what you felt here and she was just 15 years old then.

TH-camr/ opera singer/ music producer Peter Barber reacted to this song and he doesn’t think Diana is a dramatic contralto, he says the term dramatic is primarily used for opera singers, he did say Diana is definitely a contralto but not a dramatic contralto.

As a therapist I think you would be interested in hearing Tianas life story. Diana was born to an abusive alcoholic mother who beat her call Mandy collected her and even tried to drown her. At the age of three Diana was discarded by her mother on the street in the winter with a broken collarbone. Diana was turned over to an orphanage. Any thoughts therapist there took interest in Diana and ask her mother to adopt her which she did. At the age of five Diana was still so traumatized that she had trouble speaking so it was suggested that she be given voice lessons to help her learn to speak and it did work but I also discovered that she had an incredible voice and the rest is history in the making. Really enjoyed your analysis look forward to you reacting to Diana in the future

When her mother left her in the winter she nearly froze as she had no coat or warm clothes. Also she was the only child that survived her mother. It is not clear how many siblings of Diana died but 8 are documented. Sometimes when she sings I feel they are somehow with her in a way.

Diana is the most extraordinary singer in the world. You need to listen to a lot of her stuff - as she has been singing on stage since she was 8 years old and she is now 21. Listen to everything and you will be shocked and fascinated. She's not exactly a singer - she's a mythical Siren and you can hear it. And you will follow her voice - obeying your soul, as millions of people followed. Now she has the title of Queen of chills (goosebumps).

Welcome to the wonderful world of the "Queen of Goosebumps" - Diana Ankudinova. Every song she performs becomes the pinnacle of art. Diana has a unique voice - a dramatic contralto with very rare overtones and polyphony, inimitable timbre, amazing stage presence! Diana is 21 years old (in this video she is 18 years old), she lives in Moscow, Russia, and studies at Gitis - the Institute of Theatrical Art. She started singing at the age of 5 and has won more than 50 vocal competitions, including international ones. She sings in any musical genre and performed songs in her native language - Russian, as well as in English, French, Spanish, Arabic, German, and Ukrainian. It is truly a very rare and unsurpassed talent that manifests itself once in several generations.

One of my favorites by her is from the "Show Mask Go On" entitled "Oh, It's Not Yet Evening" th-cam.com/video/cfTiQkJrLi0/w-d-xo.html. It's an over 300 year old folk song about a Cossack warrior who dreams of his death in an imminent battle. On Diana's face you see sadness, anxiety and pain of the soul of the Cossack warrior. One would swear she borrowed that soul to perform the song.

    Greetings.
Diana Ankudinova is "polyphonic" which means she's able to sing normally, and she can sing with what's called an "overtone".
The background notes you hear are the overtones as they are lower in sound but she can bring the volume of both to an equal level.
After they show the blonde lady, you can hear Diana sing with an overtone but then she brings the microphone closer to her mouth to intensify the higher overtone.
For a cool reaction, watch her cover of "California Dreamin'" in the Russian The Masked Singer.
Please choose the video of her singing without the mask as that puts things in perspective when it comes to her polyphonic singing.

This really is her voice. She has also had good vocal coaching as well. She has sung since 5 to learn how to talk, then from about 10 performing, and even then you could hear the beginning Contralto of her voice. This girl could not talk when 4 due to a lot of trauma, and much abuse. She was then adopted, and her current mom loves her very much, and her family is with her always. You should hear her sing on stage doing DUNE cover with full orchestra. She uses her whole body to sing, just as Celine Dion does. The staring judge is an Opera singer, famous in Russia, and noted the quality of her voice! She has about a 4-octive range now. Enjoy!! Yes, a true epic talent! Her passion for music is wonderful, and she just graduated at 21 with a degree in Music from the University. I was so happy to find such a talent, and she is a funny, graceful, kind, and very hard-working young woman. I hope she will be safe and happy in years to come doing the music she loves. Enjoy!

The "higher part" you refer to is the overtones others (like Kwstas Vagias) reference. The lower tones you hear are simply the background music. Her voice is so dominant as a dramatic contralto that often the instrumental backing sounds like words being formed. Stuart, the type of singing Diana is doing is called ‘Overtone Singing’ which can be done as chanting as well, also known as ‘harmonic Singing’, ‘polyphonic overtone singing’, or ‘diphonic singing’. It is a classical and opera singers set of singing techniques in which the vocalist manipulates the resonances of the vocal tract to arouse the perception of additional separate notes beyond the fundamental frequency that is being produced. Overtone singing shouldn’t be confused with throat singing, which uses a different technique. It isn’t difficult once the voice is trained. Where Diana’s voice is exceptionally good is in the fact she has a very broad range, from very deep bass to soprano.

I love how she can easily slip in and out of the subharmonic-type pitches. It will sound like she's singing low notes, but they're actually high notes with low tones. The closest I've heard to this elsewhere is with beatboxing, but nowhere near this high up in range.

@@Saylor.Zac11 Yes Diana has naturally occurring “polyphonic overtones”, that is true. Your claim is that she “uses her polyphonic overtones to sing harmonies along with herself” - that is absolutely false. The way you constructed your comment it was clear you were referring to this performance, not her other You Are Super examples. It is also clear that you were attempting to buffer the reactors bemusement on the specific phrase in this performance and replace that dumbfoundedness with her “polyphonic overtones and harmonies” - that is misleading and quite plainly inaccurate and if you were indeed engaging any “critical thought” deliberately disingenuous.
Diana is incredible. Remarkable. A truly transcendent vocalist. If you truly did admire her character perhaps stop spreading disinformation under reactions to her videos, I’m sure she would respect you more for it. Diana is firmly in the top ranks of the world's vocal arts ..... with her style. And I would call it "Harpoon Ankudinova"... With this "harpoon" Diana impresses almost everyone from the first seconds ... and attracts the listener, up to the last second of the performance ... And the spectator has only to "helplessly" allow her to pull herself out of the zone of the already familiar world vocal - into the zone of her element ... into the zone of Diana's musical tornado ...! And this "harpoon" is able to carry not only a man, but also a whale into Diana's element ...!!

About the song "Rechenka": This is an old ritual song about an orphan bride. The girl has no parents. The river was considered the boundary between the world of the living and the dead. She goes to the river and asks for the blessing of marriage. She says that there are many people at home, but there is no father and mother. You hear Diana singing in a whisper. These are the words of the deceased mother of the bride. Then the girl is crying. In Russia, at weddings they sang sad songs to scare away evil and the marriage of a young couple was to be happy. Such songs were called “weeping.” The figures behind Diana are spirits of water and forest.

One video of Diana's, in my sight, is a total masterpiece the like of which I don't remember ever seeing before in my long life. It's a must see for anyone that loves singing with unending emotion. The background of the song is essential to know. The title of the song is "Ornery (or "Fastidious" or "Finicky") Horses". The song has nothing to do with horses in reality - the horses are being used as a metaphor for life. The author of song is begging the horses to slow down (he is aware he is approaching death), but, at the same time he is whipping them along (his chaotic lifestyle) - he knows that his lifestyle is taking him to an early death, however, he is unable to change it.....the composer of the song, Vladimir Vysotsky, was a singer-songwriter, poet, and actor as well as an alcoholic & drug addict and died in 1980 at the age of 42. th-cam.com/video/lu8iW9BcWmY/w-d-xo.html . Subtitles are a must for Diana's words before and after the song.

Her voice is what is known in the music industry as polyphonic which means - Diana is a contralto and also also possesses a polyphonic voice for those of you that are unaware of what this means - polyphony, in music, the simultaneous combination of two or more tones or melodic lines (the term derives from the Greek word for “many sounds”).
Basically, she can sing multiple notes at the same time and if you have listened to this song as many times as I have through high-quality headphones towards the end of the song when she is singing in the lower register you will hear a mix of low notes medium notes and HiGh notes that you think it’s actually the track that you’re hearing her voice, but in fact it is all her. There is a backing track of course but during this portion of the song if you listen carefully enough, you can hear multiple notes being song and to find out that what I’m saying is true. A simple Internet search will tell you. I have watched it perform in multiple countries and have been following her career since she was 14. The show that she was performing on is called ‘ the show mask go on’ I don’t know why the word mask is used but basically the judges are all extremely famous singers themselves across Europe and from many genres. They are all award-winning performers and all of them are blown away by her voice you can see by their faces how stun they are. if you watch the TH-cam video of Diana singing Rechenka which translates as ‘The River’ that she performed at the age of 14. I think it’s one of my favourite songs on TH-cam it’s eery and surreal and she’s 14 for God sakes and can sing better than many adults. She is phenomenal
