      I'm kind of with Kidman on the issue. For starters, if you have a good script and skilled actors who can create a convincing set physical behaviors for their character, that's all that's needed, AND the very presence of prosthetics can be a distraction for viewers. Far more important is the interaction of characters within the story than individual appearances.

    • @alexia5316
      @alexia5316 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

There are so many other important things like the emotions they convey or how they behave that good actors can do to transmit the essence of the character. These are films not documentaries. I think prosthetics has great value in science fiction or in other cases where the character really has to be transformed (eg to show scars etc)...

You have to know where nerves and blood vessels are and leave them intact. You cannot just cut anywhere or add anywhere. So. Maybe he would be a great plastic surgeon, or maybe he'd be met with the same limitations all surgeons are. Which are the limitatio's of their "material" being a living human, who needs their health and functionality. It's impossible to say. Also, with his art now, he can take his time sculpting, thinking, analyzing, reshaping. In surgery, there is some time pressure because you cannot have the patient lie on the operating table endlessly. And maybe he wouldn't be as good under time pressure. We don't know.

      I totally agree. I also think she should have let him transform her more. She should have let him use the cheek pieces to round out her face a little more like he wanted to. Her chin and jawline are too recognizable and it kind of ruined the effect.

      @kismetau 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Lex C. It could’ve been that Nicole felt too uncomfortable to act with the cheek implants or she was a little more vain. I think the former. She did change her nose and appearance quite drastically in The Hours.

      NillyC I don’t know why I feel this but a lot of times it looks like some celebrities are being played by other actors sometimes. Maybe it’s the brand or they have to many appointments so they get clones of them to act for them. I know these days surgery is common but sometimes they change there face too quickly... and sometimes they go back to their old looks to quickly to have not been prosthetics or something fishy...

    I have wondered for a long time why people who have had devastating facial injuries or other disfigurements can't obtain silicone molds of another person's (real person or not) face to fit over their own. At least it would suffice to go out in public. Maybe they already have them, I don't know, but I've seen interviews where the person said people would stop and stare, and kids would start crying. Molds could be taken, and a new face of silicone could be made to fit perfectly.

    Hands down, they nailed it. Charlize disappeared into the character and I had to question if I was watching MK or CT. • @SPT1
      @SPT1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, and it shows when Japan tries to make live action version of great mangas such as 20th Century Boys or Shingeki No Kyojin, clearly not enough money so why even do it ? I guess they still make money because of the fame of the original manga but it's still disapointing to watch. But if you don't look for big budget special effect stuff, there's still good japanese movies. And if you go back in time there is plenty of great stuff.
