I'm from the U.S., and have been living in Austin, TX for the last 18 yrs but one of my favorite countries in the world has always been France, which I've visited three time. I've watched you Dan from the very beginning working on this derelict chateau, working almost totally by yourself and thought you were very eccentric and a bit of a Don Quixote, chasing after windmills to attempt to rescue this burnt and crumbling wreck. I'm so happy I was proven wrong and you've accomplished so much so quickly, working by yourself and with your delightful crew.
Nick, calmly suspended in the air, ciggie in his fingers, saying "heelllooo" around a corner of the turret. Brian flashing his impressive biceps and bickering with Nick, while Dan tries to film while perched in impossible spaces. Definitely a different breed of builders. 😂
I love Nick’s laugh. You all have done a great deal of work and you can still laugh together. That in itself is an accomplishment. Great work and thank you for taking us along on your journey.
Earlier today, I was thinking about how much fun it will be to watch you bring the interior back to life. The exterior has been such a massive challenge (and 100% fascinating), but the interior work will be a whole different type of creative process. Such a great project...
The basic guts of a building of that size are going to be a thing of wonder. Heat / cooling / water / electric ..... and all in an esthetic framework - HUGE JOB! But they have to get watertight first!
His woodworking tool sponsor is certainly looking forward to it, I’m sure! He has a whole shop full of interesting tools that have hardly been used yet. The sponsor must be very patient and forward-thinking though, because I’d wager even starting most of that kind of woodworking work is still at least a year away, and I’m sure they knew that as well. I’m guessing most of the interior work this winter will be starting on getting the basement done, beginning to get the main interior walls sorted and working on running the utilities. If I was scheduling it out, that would be my priority for this winter at least.
A chateau without a roof is a worthless ruin, loads of them arround in France, dead, sad. A chateau with a roof is magestic, alive, surreal. A chateau with a brand new roof is a real treasure. Working on ropes at such heights is amazing, do take all precautions.
So great to watch you fellas repelling down "Château-de-Chaumont-Everest". You really have all of the climbing paraphernalia organized for your big decent. Love it.
WOW, plus! It's absolutely amazing. The. Icing on the cake is the drone footage of daily accomplishments. To visualize what drawings and very hard work, as in, it's great when a plan comes together. Thinking of when the Chateau was originally constructed, how many workers were on the job daily. Now, three and sometimes four men are rebuilding this building into Dans dream home. Makes me wish this 80 y/o could work on the project.
The transformation is incredible. You’re all so brave hanging up there, with the weight of the beams, holding levels , drills and screws. The drone footage when you see the chateau appearing above the trees is a thing of beauty.
The opening shot had me in awe! The beautiful chateau among the mist was just stunning. I could watch you all "hanging around " daily. What will come when the turret is done? I'll have to wait and see I suppose. Good work today guys!
Unbelievable! been watching since he had 5000 viewers every step exciting and purposeful; and no long periods with weird music played during ❤actual work. I so enjoy the banter among the guys,
WOW! Every day I see changes in the Chateau, but today adding the last few boards on the hangman boards really made a difference in the looks. Dan, Nick and Brian! Great work! You guys are truly amazing! It's all coming together now bit by bit. Every day your work is something to be proud of! Hard to wait here, I really want to see the entire roof done and a dry building.
The world belongs to the mad. From a tree growing in shell of a building until picking the shade of a wallpaper. Cant wait until you will start to tackle the interior!
You said it Dan! The changes are so exciting. When I first saw the Chateau and your vision for it it seemed impossible but you have done it. What a team you have had with you too. It looks so wonderful! It blows me away.
I enjoy the signature. music. I have noticed it multiple times and feels uplifted as I hear it. I think it fits the French chateau restoration vibe perfectly and that it is a brilliant idea to have such a light melodic tune to identify your chanel and the whole project.
@@Trixie1604 I call it "the tune of triumph" because Dan usually uses it when he's more or less finished an amazing part of the project, like a part of the roof.

Dan,Nick,Brian my handsome men. The turret is looking great. The chateau has been a lot of work since the beginning. Everything is coming along fantastic. Can’t wait to see all the new additions coming. Until tomorrow. My darlings, please take care and stay safe. Love ya . Happy Halloween 🎃👻💀🦇🍺🍺🍺👍🙏🌞🇺🇸❤️🌈🌹

Biceps , pull-ups, lead ropes, and Sixpacks flying....still holding my breath. The chateau is looking stately and majestic . It has been a transformation that I could not imagine. See you tomorrow ❤
Me too. I can't get on a chair to change a light bulb without passing out; my first intro to Nick was on Chateau Diaries and I couldn't watch his footage because it made me so nauseated. I'm honestly surprised he can make it that high with those big brass balls weighing him down.
D*MA, you guys blow my mind every time I see you! No cranes, hoists, or bucket lifts, just good old hard work with gymnastic ability & ropes with hardware. Job is looking real good!! Thanks for another vid, the opening film was awesome too.
Whoa!! I got so nervous watching that big heavy beam being passed like a footbal . The turret is going to be amazing! Made by blood ,sweat ? and nerves , you guys are so smart and brave!

What a challenge to construct that roof in the air 😱I'm sure your Movember idea will also be great - looking forward to learning what it is - such a good cause.
