  • Florida band Stranger performs their 1980's radio hit Hit and Run at the Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles California. These guys rocked the south during the late 80's and have become a cult favorite with their catchy tunes and over the top live performances. By far one of our favorite rock bands of all time.

I have watched many guitarist live, and I can say Ronnie was one of the best. I Was lucky enough to watch him a handful of times. He was The definition of a rock star.

Without question I have seen them over a hundred times and without question they were the best live band I have ever seen.

Stranger was our local bar band in Sarasota back in early 80s rocking the Crown Lounge and the Barn

Looks like a corporate showcase kind of gig. Definitely the mass-market version of Stranger. So sad that they didn't become huge after this. Truth be told, I prefer their sound in the early 90's more than this. More real rock balls. The sound guy under-mixed the guitar in this video...possibly because Ronnie was so loud live.

Amazing!!!! Thank you SO much for posting. Gave me chill bumps. I've been hoping more Stranger vids would pop up. Is there anywhere to get this on DVD or VHS?

The guitar sounds kinda muffled. This was L.A. They needed to hear that Ronnie Garvin Guitar full tilt. Drums and vocals are loud and strong but that guitar would have knocked them on their asses. Who was the soundman? If the guitar and bass were up - there would be a Stranger band that's a household name, not a stranger, we crave a glimpse of.

I am producing writing and directing a documentaru about Ronnie and Stranger anyone who wants to audition should send me a tape or link to their best stranger story many people will be picked to be in it. d.m.magano-ruel@outlook.com

@@dannmagano3707 I first met John back in 89 or 90. He walked in to the Travel company I worked for. I lived in Northgreen Apartments (Thunder Bay office), where John, Toe and Holt and maybe a roadie or two lived for a while. Loved those days. ❤

Thanks SO much for posting this!! I wish you would title it Hit And Run Live (Easier to find). If anyone has the original (slower) studio version of this PLEASE post it. It is much better IMHO than the faster (video) release they did years later.
I got to hang with Ronnie after one of their shows in Ft. LOUDerdale in '89. Thanks for the drinks Brother-R.I.P. you are SO missed.

I lived in Tampa from 82 to 95 and loved going to see them play. I had a cassette of them and wish I could find it! I will be buying the DVD asap! This song was played quite a bit on the radio. I miss being there.
