Good show but you've got one fact wrong. The six-pack (Dodge) and six-barrel (Plymouth) was never factory installed on the 383. It was only available on the 340 (1970 only) and 440 (1969-1972).
Great styling and having performance versions of many car models. I always felt they were less reliable than chevy or ford and leaned chevy because of interchangeability. But nobody can deny the late 60s were owned by Mopars and the in your face muscle!
They got the Challenger so I don't think think that will ever happen !!! But it sure would be nice if they brought.back the Cuda and that ole yard bird the Road Runner !!!
What made Mopars great was thier high performance image that they exploited to sell cars. GM and Ford seemed to dabble and would sponsor racers and back teams on occasion but only Mopar stayed consistently in all aspects of motorsports. Most of the cars built during the latter part of the 60’s by all the major auto manufacturers was in direct response to Mopar whipping thier asses at the track every weekend. Love all muscle cars but Mopars were the most radical by far!!
GM officially pulled out of factory sponsored racing in 1964 I believe. So any time they raced it was through back door programs or private sponsorship. Ford kept sponsoring racing through the same period as Mopar but they generally sold production cars that were more tame than Mopar or GM. And by that I mean that the standard engines on Ford cars were generally smaller and even had 2 bbls where GM and Mopar had cars like the Road Runner and GTO and 442 and R/T that came standard with big engines. You could get a 302 2bbl in a '69 Torino GT. Yes you could get a bad ass 428 in them but I don't think that was standard in any package, just an option.
Chrysler was the first to incorporate fully electronic ignition into all their cars beginning in 1973. It took two more years for the rest. No more fighting to get the perfect dwell angle and all but eliminated the need for frequent timing. Oh happy day.
Read the book "Muscle Car Confidential - Confessions of a Muscle Car Tester" by Joe Oldham. This author did testing and editorial for High Performance Cars magazine back in the day. Oldham expressed a fairly low opinion of Mopars in his book.

NOBODY did muscle cars like Mopar. Had a 69 Roadrunner 383/727 auto(my favorite car I ever had) and a 73 Duster 340-4 speed. Even with the low compression 340 that featherweight Duster was really quick. It wasn't totally stock though. I bolted on headers and a more free flowing exhaust and shit canned the smog equipment and it was a totally different car than it was bone stock. The 340 Duster and Dart Sport 340 were maybe the fastest car you could still buy in 1973 other than an SD455 T/A. Ford and most of GM had nothing by that point and the 383, 440/6, and Hemi were gone. And the 440 4 barrel was just a heavy smog choked boat anchor by then like the Ford 429 and Chevy 454 had become
All great stuff, no doubt! I was thinking the shaker hood scoop would've made the list too. I mean, if we follow the shining example provided by the boys for Spinal Tap,you can always go to 11. Thanks again guys! ▪☆☆☆▪
I had a Limelight 70 road runner, air grabber, 383, it was not era correct, but I put the machine gun exaust tips on it, I just loved them, a couple years later I put the huge Plymouth black decals on the quarters, I wanted to clone it into a Superbird, with Coronet fenders, but even way back then, those front end noses were expensive and hard to find, but I would have had one, I got divorced and had to sell it, oh the memories.

Because the 383 was the low level performance big block engine, as the 440 was built to take the pounding they were designed for. The 6 pack was also a tuning nightmare for shade tree mechanics, not for the faint at heart.
Reginald Campbell they didn't have to, the 383 four barrel in a ROAD Runner had 440 heads most of the time, and wasn't cammed like a 383 Satellite wagon and would often outrun nearly all competitive muscle car wannabes and if you had to have a sixpak it was 340 or 440, the HEMI had one or TWO four barrels , what more could you need ?
The 383 came in two versions, 2bbl and 4bbl “super commando “ and as I remember the block and heads were the same. Cam was slightly bumpier than the 2bbl version. Also the commando had dual exhaust and a better low end rear end as well as slightly wider rubber 70’s versus 78’s. Ih yes the exhaust manifolds flowed a little better as well.
kevinlimo696 you're kind of correct, Plymouth was a tad short on high performance 383 heads and really wanted to make a splash when the brought out the RoadRunner, so some actually were sent out with 440 motors at no charge and no mention of the obvious upgrade. Many got shipped with 440 heads on the 383 block, my source on this info was from HotRod articles about MOPAR, and Mr. Norm from Chicago, sort of like Pontiac sending the first GTOs out for testing with the 421s instead of 389s. The difference was Plymouth delivered them to consumers hoping to inspire more sales, I guess it worked, they sold a pile of them. Your facts are correct off the order forms of the day though. Gotta love MOPAR
Hey Kev, what about the new Demon? It's a muscle car from a different era but it has a lot of very cool up to date gear. It's a f#cken beast from straight from the factory! Cheers I enjoy the show
Every manufacturer has some or many great vehicles to offer! But Mopar really does rule.. and never owned a Ford or Mopar yet. Keeping as brief as possible, in 2003 I was 6 years old. HotWheels movie came out. Had a 1970 Plymouth Road Runner in it (and '55 Nomad and '59 XP-87 Stingray, and '63 Stingray Coupe, etc.) That Road Runner had quite abit of screentime and the car was absolutely awesome. I've had 10 vehicles, 5 were Pontiacs and I had a Camaro, all 70s cars, one 68 Pontiac. My favorite car of ALL TIME is the 1964 Shelby Cobra Daytona CSX2287, but my dreamcar is the '70 Road Runner all the way. 383, 440, 426 no matter. (Prefer a 440, though) It is INEVITABLE, I ABSOLUTELY WILL have that car. I literally have more Plymouth toys than Pontiac, which is kinda surprising. I love my T/As and such, but Road Runner all the way. Don't care for the Satellite, no need for a GTX. *road runner* is the only car I need. My "dream garage" has many things, but I'm sure it will turn out the way I plan, unless greater: '70 Road Runner, Burnt Orange, '69 A12 style hood 440 6 BBL '78 Trans Am, Martinique Blue '68-'72 Stingray 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD PRO 🇺🇸 ....Those 2002 WS-6 Trans Ams would be a cool ZooM car. Didn't care for them at first, but grew on me. At least 1998-2002. 3rd gens suck. Will never appreciate a 3rd gen And a bicycle Actually would be cool to have a vintage Harley or Indian motorcycle, but I'm not really a motorcycle guy. I do like the style, though
Always will be Mopar first for me. However, Ford and Chev have made beasts as well. The downside for Mopar owners is you pay more for performance parts..
The 6 pack was never sold factory installed on any 383. Interestingly, Chrysler was considering it, even had 6 barrel manifolds and sold them in the performance parts catalog.
Mopars are cool, says me, the Chevy guy. One small complain about this week's video: Did your video editor fiddle with the settings? Instead of nice and smooth, the video was jerky. Seems as if there's something wrong with the frames per second settings between camera and post production.
So do the Camaro and Firebird and the Mustang and the Cougar and the Torino and the Cyclone and the Skylark and the Chevelle and the Impala and the LeSabre and the...
No 383 6-Pack cars. The coolest Mopars that had NOTHING ... not even rugs. They were all business. It would have been nice to see some “pre-musclecar-era” before GTO.

Mopars are truly the brotherhood of muscle & nothing else comes remotely close.
Don't forget the AAR 'Cuda pipes.
AAR not a muscle car
The one that's sold to the public was as not actually used on a race track. You are splitting hairs.

Looking back on these Exclusive of the Golden Muscle Car Era of what I personally think Chrysler was THE MASTER, I really Regret:
What happens at Chrysler? There was an uptick with the
merger between Chrysler and Daimler-Benz that made me had hope:Hemi engines , Chrysler 300, Dodges Charger
Challenger etc.
But Then back to oblition.
And seems that nobody cares.
A Real Heart Ache for us who had them and Love Them.
Thanks for another great video
Thanks! Great stuff, Kevin.
Chrysler did more for the the average muscle car biyer
Mopar or no car!
Nailed it!
Wouldn't mind owning a few.
Every item's a winner,Kevin, but i definately agree with your number one slot.An AAR 'Cuda is one car i'd love to own, along with a '68 Shelby GT500KR and a '69 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am.
"The little head right in the grill",,,my wife accuses me of thinking with the little head all the time,,,LOL.
I like : shaker hood scoop , hockey strip decals stripe , steels rallye wheels .
Generally dislike , vinyl top ( ...with floral graphic ) ., pistol grip , rear spoiler ( fr. ok ) , rear window louvers .
All great stuff, no doubt! I was thinking the shaker hood scoop would've made the list too. I mean, if we follow the shining example provided by the boys for Spinal Tap,you can always go to 11. Thanks again guys! ▪☆☆☆▪
Mopar A Bodies Forever.. 1968 Dodge Dart everyday and Everywhere.
Nice
I had a Limelight 70 road runner, air grabber, 383, it was not era correct, but I put the machine gun exaust tips on it, I just loved them, a couple years later I put the huge Plymouth black decals on the quarters, I wanted to clone it into a Superbird, with Coronet fenders, but even way back then, those front end noses were expensive and hard to find, but I would have had one, I got divorced and had to sell it, oh the memories.
Love it!
Mopar to ya
Where's the "shaker hood scoop"??
On the Mustangs a year before the Mopar.

PLEASE. so many awesome features to be highlighted, GM, FOMOCO, AMC, & MOPAR. Keep em coming!
Now you gotta do 10 top traits for Ford
1. They like crowds so much they steer towards them on their own. 2. They're louder than Honda with fart pipes. 3. They're affordable. 4. Chicks can drive them. 5. Snot-nosed kids think they're fast. 6. There's lots of them so parts are plentiful. 7. If you sink enough money into them they can keep up with a stock MOPAR. 8. If you sink a sh!t ton of money into them they may even beat a stock MOPAR. 9. Even the Ford Engineers and CEO admit the new GT500 can't hang with the top Dodge. 10. They're not Chivies!
My blood type is CM = Chrysler Mopar !! Whats yours ??
Always wondered why Chrysler never installed a six pack (six barrel) in the 383.
According to this guy they did, I'd love to see it.
Low price, big muscle and performance
Mopar or no car Ⓜ️💪👊
My "dream garage" has many things, but I'm sure it will turn out the way I plan, unless greater:
'70 Road Runner, Burnt Orange, '69 A12 style hood 440 6 BBL
'78 Trans Am, Martinique Blue
'68-'72 Stingray
2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD PRO 🇺🇸
....Those 2002 WS-6 Trans Ams would be a cool ZooM car. Didn't care for them at first, but grew on me. At least 1998-2002. 3rd gens suck. Will never appreciate a 3rd gen
And a bicycle
Actually would be cool to have a vintage Harley or Indian motorcycle, but I'm not really a motorcycle guy. I do like the style, though
I think Ford and Chevy guys can agree on one thing: Mopar is the coolest!
(I actually love ‘em all though 😉)
Personally I like the 71 road runners
Always will be Mopar first for me. However, Ford and Chev have made beasts as well. The downside for Mopar owners is you pay more for performance parts..
You guys should do this format with Ford and Chevy!
Mopar is the ultimate brand everybody else was just trying to keep up
Hi Kevin, I'm a HUGH FAN of your Channel, however No shaker hood # 1 ? Lou
You didn’t honk the horn of the road runner
I agree
Another reason you should have a mopar
The 6 pack was never sold factory installed on any 383. Interestingly, Chrysler was considering it, even had 6 barrel manifolds and sold them in the performance parts catalog.
Get your damn facts right, you could never get a 383 with a six pack!
Lol no shit lol

Kevin were you the Kevin on yenko.net?...I know you guys there like mopars and Ford.. but give the G.M. cars some credit..
Yesenia Krueger ; Hot Rod, Car Craft, and Popular Hot Rodding magazines have given G.M.(especially Chevrolet) more credit the last 40yrs than Ford and Chrysler, combined, will get in 2 life times. Fact

@@yeseniakrueger1863 ; Thank you for the kind response. I'm 61yrs old now. As a kid, the Cobra was and is my favorite snake. In the Boy Scouts, we named our patrol "Cobra". Our scout master was able to get Cobra patches and we were able to get our mom's to stitch them on our kerchief. During the summers while I was in high school, I worked with my uncle painting apartments and houses.(he owned a 69 Roadrunner, his brother, a 69 Chevelle SS 396) At a paint supply store in Virginia, I spotted a orange car with black hood and louvers. A closer look, I noticed a cobra decal on the front fenders. Then, the Ford name. Didn't know such a car existed. Instant love! I saved enough $$$$ and bought a used 1970 Torino Cobra in Nov.1975, for $800. Today, I own a 69 Ford Cobra fastback with original 428cj 4 spd and 69 Roadrunner with 440 4spd. The issue I have with the 3 mags I mentioned is not 1 in 40yrs hardly mention anything Ford related. Not 1 Cobra has ever been the main photo on the front cover. Either way, I bet it was a blast racing in the 60's. John
