Hey Justin, Love your tutorials and thank you so much for what you do. You've provided a light for me and you made my art so much better lol. I was wondering if you could do a tutorial on how to make an IG page that looks like Anderson.Paak's as far as the illustrations and video in the picture goes. (instagram.com/anderson._paak/)(instagram.com/micah.my.mind/) I hope to understand the creativity and execute the same look and feel. Thanks in advance.
I think the way they design their pages is by finding out the dimensions of an instagram picture, then multiplying it by 3 and using those dimensions in photoshop. So instagram's layout is 1080 x 1080 px, so if you want to make your page 3 by 3, you'd multiply those values and thats what you make your photoshop document. From there, you start making your art and what I'd do is make a group of lines that separates your pics from eachother. If you make all your stuff on different layers and such (i'm not too good with photoshop but), you should be able to copy the layer onto a document that's 1080x1080px. Do this for all of your pictures. There may be an app that takes an image and reduces each of it to their own images but idk
I am finishing up editing my first music video and had a sequence that this was ideal for. It took a looooong time, but it definitely upped the production value of the video. Thanks for making the tutorial succinct and easy to follow!
Probably the first time i actually subscribe to someone after watching a single tutorial video cus you just showed what i needed to do instead of showing random stuff just for expanding the video length
The rotobrush tool in after effects does a very good job tracking masks. I've masked transitions just like this in 10 or so minutes using that method instead of frame by frame.
Would it be possible to just make one clip 24 fps because in the same video I have a part that I slowed down by 70% and I like the 60 fps for the slow-motion. I'm still really new to premiere so any tips would help.
YourTechGuide if I'm not mistaken, you can also do it in after effects and get a similar effect but has a stronger tracking engine to help with the masking
Thanks, id say it can take about 10-30 minutes to mask out frame by frame for something with moving parts like people. If you are working with something more simple like a building or wall, it could be a lot quicker because its a straight line.
Thank you for: 1.) Not having a long (or at all) intro with dub step. 2.) Not telling me to "smash" that like button. 3.) Just getting to the point. For some reason tutorials are just chocked up with a 2 minute dub step, cheap pointless intro followed with some California looking dude yelling at me to smash a like button and buy his lut pack, with virtually no real time put into actually explaining what the click bait title said I'd learn. /rant over. Thank you for your great video!
Perfect tutorial. Succinct and to the point, no 5 minute intro about sponsors begging for likes & subscriptions. Tried this out on one of my projects and it worked like a charm, even though I suck at working with the pen tool.
Does anyone know of any way to do this in Premier Pro CS6? This is by far the most coherent and well structured tutorial I've found for this effect by I don't use CC :( Would anyone be able to help?
No, It can't be done like this because there is no mask option, but you can use the 4/8/16-point matte effect instead (even though it's not as flexible as the pen tool).
Thanks for this AMAZING tutorial. I love this transition and always dreamed of using it one day in my videos. You definetly have to put some effort into this effect, but at the end it just looks really cool and uniqe. Thanks for this amazing tutorial.
Hey! Had a quick question. I followed all the steps but when I connected the points at 1:55 there it did not mask the layer. Are there any suggestions or quick fix for this?
Yeah I think for me my mistake was that I was not staying on Mask 1 on the same video clip in which I want to mask. If you click elsewhere and try selecting the the video clip again it may create another mask which you don't want. Always stay on Mask 1 on the same video clip. Please let me know if this was helpful or not!
JearbearChen i rectified that mistake as well but still that black patch which you see when he first completes the mask .... my automatic selection does not come and that black patch is not occurring at all
My only suggestion is to try making a simple square mask on any part of your video clip and find out how to fix the automatic selection before proceeding to mask more complex shapes for the transition
Thank you so much for this. I always find your tutorials easy to understand. All the other ones on TH-cam are so complicated. Was my first attempt at frame blocking and took me 2 hours to get it perfectly right. But at least now I know how to do it properly
I've had the same problem, you probably have multiple masks open. If you close the other masks (mask (1), mask (2), mask (3), etc) except for the mask with the acctual selection it will show the black masking.
I just figured it out, make sure when youre masking that the actual clip you want to mask is selected. Look on the sequence timeline and make sure the clip is highlighted. Then mask it.
/I got it. make sure the (fx) is not crossed out. meaning you do not want the effect to show. that's what was happening to mine. then delete other masks if you have any
Brad Anderson well, if u wanna go pro or even come close you have to, PR is just for building your video timeline and even if it has its own effects and many other cool stuff ur professional video will not be complete without AE but those are just my thoughts and experience so far.
Such an efficient and overall dope tutorial. Using this trick for a b roll sequence at the beginning of a movie i'm making for a film competition. Thanks a bunch, Justin!
Extremely helpful. I saw someone do it in after effects but i thought it would be possible in premiere so did a little more searching and found this. awesome!
Love your tutorials! I'm just now getting into cinematography and have never edited in Adobe Premier before. You tutorials are so easy to understand, and I have finally edited a video effectively, thanks to you!!! Thanks for all of the work that you put into your tutorials! They are very helpful to a newbie like me!
Thanks for such a great video :) As someone who is just starting to grasp all the video editing, rendering stuff, I really appreciate your work and effort. It's really helpful :)

Justin Odisho thanks man! Will use this in a music video soon..

I've actually got a few tutorials on how to do asap rocky and dj mustard or collage style instagram feeds. Search them up on my channel.
Justin Odisho thanks for the tutorials! I like how you keep your tutorials simple and straightforward. It helps a lot! +1 subs! :)
FINALLY! Someone who just shows you how its done, and nothing more. Thank you! Keep it up :)
Thanks, I know how it is!
Ya
These get better and better. Nobody wants to sit through a 30 minute tutorial. Awesome work!
Glad you are enjoying them! I'm trying to keep improving the flow.

Thanks for all of these tutorials Justin. Learning loads from them man!!! Really are the top tuts on TH-cam.
I'm loving it... You show every thing step by step... You're the best!
really well explained and thanks for using your time to make our job easier :) you got a new fan ;)
Thanks!
when i do the mask, it doesnt turn the background black. idk why

You truly did more than visitors’ expectations. Thank you for rendering these helpful, trusted, edifying and also cool thoughts on the topic
you rock man :) this is awesome
I will never use 60fps again
Lol Just interpret the 60 fps footage at 24 fps and you can cut down your workload
Would it be possible to just make one clip 24 fps because in the same video I have a part that I slowed down by 70% and I like the 60 fps for the slow-motion. I'm still really new to premiere so any tips would help.
Yeah, so you would use the razor tool in the timeline to cut your video. Now you can manipulate them separately.
😂🙆
Nobody:
Me: uses 480fps at realtime for masking😎
Holy shit! This was the easiest tutorial to follow for this. I can't wait to go through all of your videos. Thank you so much!
Thank you Justin! You keep the explanation simple so we can understand
good effect but damn that's a lot of work.
YourTechGuide if I'm not mistaken, you can also do it in after effects and get a similar effect but has a stronger tracking engine to help with the masking
Ernest Arrellano i hate after effects lol

YoungBlaze Of Chitown you're not the only one my man. That's why I like this channel because he does most things in premier lol
all good things takes work. better adopt that attitude man.
