Nice! Agree with you 100%. Sherlock is creative storytelling at its finest. How to tell a story we already know? How to engage audience in more than a mystery? How to engage audience into telling the story of solving a mystery. Loved it. Cheers

Man it's such a blessing that you exist! I'm very into all the various methods of visual storytelling, film, design etc. and often my fascination with such details and craft seems misplaced as if I start rambling about it... well you know for sure what I mean :) I've been wanting to start writing or talking somewhere about it, because I couldn't find too many of these things well made and because it's good to channel the nerd I guess. But it's amazing and inspiring to see someone else with a broad view on visual communication and beyond visual, thanks for the effort you put into this!

Oni Berugu , Hi I would like to know how to get great sense of Editing as a director coz I'm very serious about becoming a film director... kindly share where to learn things...
Kannan A on TH-cam it would be every frame a painting, nerdwriter and a few more; but mostly observe and notice what you like, understand what makes it so through analysis or emulation and mostly - practice, practice, practice. Really no other way than to see for yourself and get feedback of others. To most it should be seamless when they watch - in most cases if they can notice the transition then it’s not good. I’ve spent countless hours editing commercials for advertising working quite simple transistions to near perfection; then I’d move on to more experimental and sometimes not seamless stuff. I’d recommend first practicing simple, getting confident with those.
Even a lay man like myself who knows nothing about transitioning and the skills required was completely smitten with it! Mu favourite transition is in S2 E1, when sherlock is seemingly thrown into bed directly from the crime scene. The bed moving upwards was just marvellous. I should like to say, BBC sherlock is the best series ever produced till date :) Great video!
Totally mesmerizing series for the quality and style of editing, photography and camera work, I've seen it all more than just once and I always learn something new every time I watch again. Absolute genius, although as you mentioned at one point, it can become too much at times.
the editing and sound effects is very well put. i didn't even notice that I'm about to finish another episode. that's how much I'm drawn to each episodes. besides the story, it really is the editing and all that makes it so much better and immersive

Awesome video man. Transitions are my favorite thing to watch for in movies right now. I really like how you related this to story telling. It is way more than just a way in which to be artsy, it enhances the storyline. Awesome work!
So I watched this video a few years ago after I first watched the whole of the series, I then just now watched the whole series again and appreciated the transitions so much more and all in all I really enjoyed watching it again which was really down to this video. So thank you!
This is awesome! And seeing the clips now bring feelings from watching the episodes. So dense production on many levels. TV is not stupid anymore. Anyway, in some comment you asked how this video was found. This has never happened before, but the two videos I've now watched in my current TH-cam watching session, both were something I haven't watched recently or won't usually search for. The first one was about making a robot to shoot you in the eye with laser. The common thing was "I don't usually do this kind of..." and that, after you said it in the end, felt quite bizarre and special! I just found these videos, not by searching anything, they were suggested. Thank you for magnificent breakdown! Great stuff.
Awesomeeeeee, I always wondered Why I use to watch those Sherlock Holmes episode with such an attention even if they were so long. My mind loved those episodes. Now you just revealed those information. Once you learn something new, you automatically keep using that knowledge. Now I going to watch my favorite movies once again but now with lot of attention. To findout why I like them the most.

When i watched this series i wasn't that big into transitions and cinematography. Now that I'm staring at cinematography and editing i can't wait to watch the whole series again.. Thank you for this video btw 🙏🏼
Really nice and informative video. I loved it! You see transitions all the time watching Sherlock but without really thinking about them. Learned a lot off your video. Thank you
I have adored this show since I was very little. I recently finally got to go to London and visit the museum at 221b Baker Street and do all the touristy stuff. I am now a film major nearly a decade older than when I first found this amazing show. Stumbling across this random video when looking for transition ideas for a short film I was thinking about writing. These two parts of my life in context with each other made me fall in love with this show all over again. I know this is an older vid, but thank you for this!

Amazing video! I'm starting to learn a lot about editing and all of this, and Sherlock has been one of my favorite shows for a couple of years now and I've always loved the way they enhance the storytelling using what the audience sees (transitions, text messages, camera movement, visual effects...), and this video does a great job breaking down all of that. Thanks for sharing this.

Oh my gosh I loved the series but I didn't even think about this stuff. I have to go watch series again now, but I'm not complaining. I'll love the show even more.
Thank you. I really enjoyed this. It was fun to think about the transitions in isolation. Of course, I've experienced them many times over, been guided by them, had my emotions stirred by them but I've never looked at them as a "thing". I will pay closer attention the next time I go though the series again.
I love videos about filmmaking and also Sherlock. Guess that’s why it was suggested to me by TH-cam. On another topic, você é brasileiro cara? Foi uma surpresa tão grande ao ver você cantando músicas em português. Por favor faça mais vídeos sobre filmes e séries! Essas análises são uma das melhores coisas pra se assistir no TH-cam! Keep up the good work! And more filmmaking videos if you’re really into it!

this has been floating around my recommended for awhile and i'm glad i watched it! really informative and while i did notice some of the transitions in my initial viewing i feel like i didn't appreciate them enough, haha qvq i'll rewatch the series sometime!
You’re very articulate and analytical in the way you think and communicate information. I would watch these scenes and probably never give two cents to what just happened or why it did. Perhaps that’s the intention of the producers and editors to make it flow and be seamless for the viewers, but I thinks it’s more that I’m just not that deep. I’m simple.

Your analysis of the transitions and their purpose, the meaning behind them, and what message the director is trying to convey is very astute. Thank you so much for sharing this.

The bed transition was actually done practically to my surprise. In the behind the scenes they showed this bed that is on a pneumatic system to push it up to vertical for that scene. Clever.
Hey I absolutely love this video, I’m a film and media student in college and I was really struggling with transitions but this really helped, i was researching videos explaining transitions and I came across this, so glad this is really good. Subscribed 😊😊
Amazing analysis of the transitions mate ! After having watched the whole series this video really helped me see those nuances which I had missed. Great work ! Liked :)
I think another reason why I like watching it is because we CAN see Sherlock's thoughts it makes us feel as if we have deduced the same things as him and so we enjoy him explaining it to the other characters and what he has made of 'our' deductions

This is my very first comment on TH-cam. There are incredibly worthy videos across TH-cam that people often don't realize, and this is one such. You sir, have done an excellent job with this analysis and it'd be so wrong of me if I don't appreciate you for it or encourage you for the efforts you've put in. This is quality work. Instead of just pinpointing subjective details, you've done an objective analysis as well, and that which I absolutely loved. I also loved the fact that you wrote, "I hope you enjoy it and learn something from it" I am fan of people who strive to learn something from everything, and this video is an amazing example. Thanks for the time and the effort. Keep up the good work. I learnt and enjoyed as well. :-)

I know right!!!!! i was just mesmerized by each time by the transition. well, I'm gonna subscribe because the matter of "transition" is really lacking subject on the internet. Good content!
Mira Mineko Hey, thanks for taking the time to comment, I really apreciate it.
I just want to know: where did you find out about this video? I really enjoyed making this one, and it would be nice to share my content directly to the groups that like it too.
Thanks
I always enjoyed the aesthetics of the show but I never quite knew why. Now I know! Great video! I'll definitely be paying more attention to the transitions and sounds now when I rewatch it :D
Thanks for the video!! Definitely going to use these transition aspects in my upcoming Crime Drama!
5:41 Use eye/head movement to indicate upcoming transitions! Edgar Wright does this quite a bit in Shuan of the Dead
I knew that SHERLOCK is a fascinating series, but this is such a fresh view. Thanks for this technical review!!!
Nícollas Dias sou sim, mas tento morar fora sempre que posso.
Thanks a lot for the feedback, I'll soon be back at my editing station and will share more content!
Nícollas Dias , Hi I would like to know how to get great sense of Editing as a director coz I'm very serious about becoming a film director... kindly share where to learn things...
this has been floating around my recommended for awhile and i'm glad i watched it! really informative and while i did notice some of the transitions in my initial viewing i feel like i didn't appreciate them enough, haha qvq i'll rewatch the series sometime!
I’m simple.
Thank you for supporting! I'm trying to post regularly, so please check my latest videos and let me know what you think.

All this time I am a sherlock fan but never realize all this transition. Thanks dude this is great

it was on my feed, so youtube suggested it to me. it happens that i'm teaching myself about video editing.
I love this video. I've never seen this series before; I was just looking for a lesson about visual storytelling, but now I think I have to watch this show. Your analysis of the transitions and their purpose, the meaning behind them, and what message the director is trying to convey is very astute. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Awesome analysis backed by succinct examples. I'll go and watch Sherlock now...
Great Video. I have watched every episode and always loved the way they did the transitions. Thanks for breaking these down...
Wow, that was incredible. I didn't pay that much attention to transitions in Sherlock series but next time I will do for sure. Ps your voice is so nice to listen! Thank you for the video

Subscribed 😊😊
katharine kavanagh awesome to read this! Thanks a lot!
this is very interesting one. i do agree about all the transitions effect on the stories. thx conrad! yes I do learn something
After watching your video, I really want to see the Sherlock Holmes series! Thanks!
Superb Konrad!- well done loved your item. Great ideas for frustrated film directors...
Amazing analysis of the transitions mate ! After having watched the whole series this video really helped me see those nuances which I had missed. Great work ! Liked :)
Hmmm i can see your hard work in this one. Awesome man loved it!
I think another reason why I like watching it is because we CAN see Sherlock's thoughts it makes us feel as if we have deduced the same things as him and so we enjoy him explaining it to the other characters and what he has made of 'our' deductions
That's a really good point!
Omg I LOVE THIS VIDEO! It helped me so much understanding all the transitions. I think I'll include many of them in my videos! :)
Lulus Dreamtown , Hi I would like to know how to get great sense of Editing as a director coz I'm very serious about becoming a film director... kindly share where to learn things...

Fantastic observations! Thank you for bringing it to light! This is the true art of "Digital" film making!!
I don’t mind that this is different than what you usually do. I’d love to see more. Enjoyed this. Sherlock’s cinematography is very cool.

Love it man! I'm a big fan of nerdwritter and ur like another person who makes this kinda video similar like him but just different. Keep it up! Cheers!
A big thank you for breaking down these transitions.
I also loved the fact that you wrote, "I hope you enjoy it and learn something from it"
I am fan of people who strive to learn something from everything, and this video is an amazing example.
Thanks for the time and the effort. Keep up the good work. I learnt and enjoyed as well. :-)
That sort of comment only gives me energy to do it again! I'm finishing another video this very moment, and will upload soon.
Thanks for the love!
Excellent content! I am sure you will be one of the top youtubers real soon!!
awesome..i am also very impressed by the transitions sherlock series have shown..
Fascinating & detailed breakdown. Thoughtfully written & presented. Thank you.
I have seen the nerdwritter one. It's fantastic. And man you did amazing job. You should do more stuff like this. Looking forward to what you present next.
This reminds me of how much I love this series
Nicely put together konrad
Excellent and very intelligently done. Thanks for your work on this.
Brilliant video. It's nice to have the transition examples all put together for us.
Awesome, another reason to watch Sherlock again and again
Amazing. Thank you for bring this to TH-cam. Wouldn't see it unless you brought this up here. I will definitely use this style to improve my own videos. I actually had use a few of this techniques without noticing
Whoa I didnt even really notice all these transitions. Thanks for breaking this down!

Gostei muito do vídeo. Entrei no seu canal pra ver mais e tive a grata surpresa de ver que era brasileiro kkk parabéns pela análise e edição, acho que o TH-cam brasileiro precisa de mais pessoas com essa visão.
Fascinating analysis! Now I have some ideas how to film my first London trip!
I haven't seen the series but I have all the reasons to watch it now!!! Great video men
I wanna rewatch Sherlock now just so I can pay attention to the transitions
Sherlock seriously is so well made and creative! Thanks for making this video essay
