    RIP John (Draven) - thanks for the legacy and nice to hear about the friendship you two had. Also thanks for the effort you put into this really cool project!

    Wow! Why on earth did I not have one of these back in the day?!?

    Thomas - I greatly appreciate the work and passion you put into this project. The story behind it is an emotional one and you did this for, in my opinion, all the right reasons. I was quick to order one and I'd never heard of this device. I look forward to installing it and seeing everything it is capable of. Thank you again.

    That is Fast!
    I owned a 1541 with my C64 back in the day and this would have been the device of Dreams!
    (should I have not taken a different route and not progressed to an Amiga A500, A1200, then I built my first PC, a Pentium III tower with Matrox Millennium GPU)

    Hello Thomas would love to get one of these Phantom boards sometime if it is possible that is amazing stuff Thomas them wall mounts are epic for the golden 80's computers there will be a massive demand for them alone nevermind the Phantom what a find great work on the reverse engineering the board

      Sure, if I do at some point want one, there are different ways to go about it. I recently released ALL of the files including the gerbers and design files to the github. So you could build it entirely yourself. If you wanted me to build one for you, I'm sure that could be arranged. It would however be the cheapest option for you to build it yourself.

      @@8BitResurgence Ima found a software disc that states for use with the Phantom drive sorry for being late in my reply as just noticed your comment Thomas... Ima have around four hundred rare Commodore 64 software discs will go through them later after a sleep and see if Ima have any more for you...Sure will contact you later about getting the board from you as have a few ALPS drives one needing realigned the other is in perfect alignment and a 64 C drive also perfect.

      @@8BitResurgence Hello again Thomas It is an actual Trilogic software disc the printed sticker states > "Doppleganger V1.01D" Disc copier for use with the Phantom. If your drive is slightly out of alignment Doppleganger may not copy first time. Use Sync tracks as last resort. Trilogic (C)...

    Sounds like a kit to make a copy of the Commodore SFD-1001 performance (the 1mb 5 1/4 inch disk drive that looked like a 1541)

    • @8BitResurgence
      @8BitResurgence  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd hazard to say that the transfer speeds of the Phantom exceed the performance of an SFD-1001!

    I think it would be helpful if at the very start we had some kind of a speed comparisons shown. That is after all supposed to be one of the biggest improvements of this correct? Especially if you're going to be releasing this as any kind of a product people have to be able to see the speed difference. Maybe loading Doodle screens in Doodle. At 17:13 out of nowhere you start talking about the higher capacity. If you outlined this information previously in the video I sure as heck didn't notice. So... What is this about higher capacity?

      Thank-you for your comment. I agree with you that this is a somewhat compressed presentation of the Phantom. I just wanted to hit the highlights and was trying to avoid a potentially LONG video. But I can help with answering your questions.
      During the development of the reproduction, I covered all of your questions (and more) in the following thread on Lemon64.
      Speedtest Comparison: www.lemon64.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=77783&start=26
      Higher Capacity Formats: www.lemon64.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=77783&start=13
      I do however feel that your suggestion has merit, and creating a speed comparison video would be great and is something that should be done, and get more into the higher capacity format! Let me look into setting something up in a future video.
