- Watch this exclusive performance of “Come to Your Senses” by Alexandra Shipp and Vanessa Hudgens from Pulitzer Prize and Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda’s tick, tick...BOOM!, an adaptation of the autobiographical musical by Jonathan Larson, who revolutionized theater as the creator of Rent. The film follows Jon (Academy Award nominee and tony Award winner Andrew Garfield), a young theater composer who’s waiting tables at a New York City diner in 1990 while writing what he hopes will be the next great American musical. Days before he’s due to showcase his work in a make-or-break performance, Jon is feeling the pressure from everywhere: from his girlfriend Susan (Alexandra Shipp), who dreams of an artistic life beyond New York City, amidst an artistic community being ravaged by the AIDS epidemic. With the clock ticking, Jon is at a crossroads. Will he come to his senses with the little time he has?

On the brink of turning 30, a promising theater composer navigates love, friendship and the pressure to create something great before time runs out. - บันเทิง
Please someone ask these two to release solo versions of this song. I want to hear each singing the parts the other got to sing.
Thank you bro I saud the same thing 💯 🙏
Same. I was a little disappointed that Vanessa didn’t sing the full song
Alexandra Ship did an Amazing job with this song. She was great in the movie too!
@@Kylalovesbabe THANK YOU. EVERYONE KEEPS SAYING THEY LOVE IT. But personally i wanted Vanessa to sing just like Karessa (the character) sings it entirely. I waited the entire movie for Vanessa.
THANK YOU
This needs to be performed live at the Oscars
YES!
I pray 🙏
Alexandra Shipp, Vanessa Hudgens, AND JAZMINE SULLIVAN!!!!
@@broadwaybabywmh hell yes!
Omg yes
Vanessa killing it at sad musical ballads since '06
Fearful avoidant personality in a nutshell
But unlike ‘06, she’s doing it in a movie that’s actually GOOD!
@@ShowtuneSampler HSM is iconic though
❤❤❤❤
@@ShowtuneSampler Plus if it wasn't for High School Musical, she wouldn't have been on Rent live, Grease live and now Tick, Tick, Boom
I wish this is a live version. Would've love it if the entire cast is doing a Tinydesk Session
fax
Yeah kind of disappointing that they just took the track from the film and lipsynced to it :/
@@OhanaJohan literally every music video ever does this
@@jmqdc This was labeled "Performance" not "Music Video" I'm well aware of how music videos work.
I vote for a Tinydesk session!!!
Something about Alex singing “music BOX melody” gets me everytime
RIGHT???
SAAAAAME
THIS!
that's the best part of the song
I get chills everytime
Alexandra Shipp's part in this song is incredible & she performed it tremendously.
The fact that they r singing it to each other makes it even more beautiful
I think so too. Song's just got another layer of depth.
High School Musical but make it gay 😉 about time
@@anaventura8382 haven’t seen the movie yet here, but doesn’t Vanessa portray an illustration of Alexander’s character?
@@Jprager Well, the way the movie works is that it has Jon performing it on stage (not actual footage, though) and there's also those moments happening like in a normal movie. In the stage part, Vanessa's character (as well as Joshua Henry's) are backup vocalists for Jon, so everytime there's a song in this part, it's sung by them. Therefore, in a few parts, yes, she is kind of an illustration of Alexandra's character. Hope you understood that and sorry if this was too confusing, English isn't my first language :)
@@slushiesforlife awwww interesting, yeah I gotcha, np
I'd let Vanessa do more Princess Switches if only she gets more great roles like this!!!
She was in Bad Boys 4 Life last year.
You'd "let" her? Not sure it's up to you, mate
She was good but did she really do a lot? Can't say she did. She just sang and performed. Acting wise, not too much there.
i agree, even tho her role in this movie is just a side character, her charisma is great, not overpowering the leads but her presence is there ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I totally agree she such a great actress
Kinda wished this was filmed live instead of being lip-synched - they still killed it though!
I don't think the sound quality would have been the same
Ikr!!
People seem to forget lipsync still came from a live recording..
@@sidedude1641 I think they mean what was the purpose of recording this when we have the scene from the movie. Typically, this type of video comes from a special live performance
Alexandra was criminally underused in the X-Men movies. One of the most iconic superheroes and they gave her nothing to do. Glad that Tick Tick Boom is giving her a chance to show how talented she is.
Edit: I’m not saying Storm should have had a random solo or anything. I’m referring to the fact that TTB showed that Alexandra is a good actress and that wasn’t showcased in the X-Men films.
Right. Alex made an amazing ororo and managed to do so much with just her presence
Omg i didnt know she was Storm, thats why her face was so familiar
Yeah, but she did pretty well in Love, Simon.
@@seav80 Too bad Love, Simon was pretty bad otherwise (in my opinion, but maybe i’m comparing it to the book too much)
Simon Kinberg turned a literal omega level goddess into an ice cube dispenser who struggled against a dude with tentacle dreadlocks and I’ll never forgive for that…
Anybody else got LITERAL CHILLS with Vanessa’s: “Deep in my eyes, what do you see? Deep in my sighs, listen to me”
Or was it only me???
Same here
SAAAAME
Gotta go my own way feels
@@pauljohn961 100% same vibes
Something about the way she said “eyes” just unreal 😍
I cried like a baby when Alexandra began to sing this song during the movie. I cried even more watching Andrew Garfield crying while she continued. By far my favorite movie of 2021.
I wish more people watched this movie. It’s so good.
Also, I need Vanessa and Alexandra to do a romantic film together.
wait what lmao
@@ardraagatama2858 they did have some chemistry in this video 😂 So my guess is @Jennifer is saying a romance movie would too
Nobody cares about what you "need"
@@unrepentantoffender188 keep your grumpy attitude to yourself
I agree so strongly
Vanessa's so good. She's great at duets and never over powers her partner. That's why it's so pleasant.
It's recorded and mixed in a studio. It's going to blend.
Alexandra Shipp deserves all the recognition and exposure! Such a talent!
This is such a serve. Vanessa and Alex's chemistry is everything omg.
Hearing Vanessa Hudgens voice in a ballad is giving me nostalgia ❤😍🙌 Her voice is like my childhood.
super right? i was in grade 6 when the HSM was released😍
aaa super yeess!
when Alexandra sings "when it was only me and you", I have Gabriella pops up in my head and sings "when there was me and you".
That such a beautiful rendition of that song. They both have a beautiful voice. I would love to see them do another duet together. Their harmony is perfect together
I want another musical with Vanessa and Alexandra in the leads
This is such a fantastic song. Brilliant vocals. RIP Jonathan.
You're on the air, I'm under ground
Signal's fading, can't be found
I finally open up
For you I would do anything
But you've turned off the volume
Just when I've begun to sing
Come to your senses
Defenses are not the way to go
And you know, or at least you knew
Everything's strange, you've changed
And I don't know what to do to get through
I don't know what to do
I have to laugh
You sure put on a show
Love is passe in this day and age
How can we expect it to grow?
You as the knight
Me as the queen
All I've got tonight
Is static on a screen
Come to your senses
The fences inside are not for real
If we feel as we did, and I do
Can't you recall when this all began
It was only you and me
It was only me and you
But now the air is
Filled with confusion
We replace care with illusion
It's cool to be cold
Nothing lasts anymore
Love becomes disposable
This is the shape of things
We cannot ignore
Come to your senses
Suspense is fine if your just an
Empty image emanating out
Of a screen
Baby be real, you can feel again
You don't need a music box melody
To know what I mean
Deep in my eyes, what do you see
Deep in my sighs, listen to me
Let the music commence from inside
Not only one sense, but use all five
Come to your senses
Come to your senses
Come to your senses
Baby come back
Alive
Cheers 🤗
That is indeed the words that are coming out of their voice box.
Thank you!
After watching the film, this song really stuck to me. I keep playing the song on repeat. So glad to have this "live" rendition.
Same 🤗
This is exactly the same audio as the movie version lmao.
Love how Netflix os promoting the hell out of this movie. Awesome to see! It deserves alllll the attention!
I cannot stand this iconic moment its like they knew we were obsessed with this duo
Vanessa 2006: "There Was Only Me and You"
Alexandra 2021: ...that's a good line 2:17
When I was watching the movie this was exactly what I instantly thought of😂😂
I thought of this instantly. Finally someone brought it up
I keep thinking this even though tick tick boom came out before
Damn 15 years, we neef an actual HSM reunion with zac and vanessa
Their harmony at the end has the same vibes as the ending of "What You Own" from Rent, and I love it so much. Their voices go together beautifully.
No More also instantly reminded me of the title song from RENT
ALEXANDRA’S VOICE GIVES ME CHILLS
Alexandra's voice is everything.
Damn, I’m a 32-year-old man and this movie had me in tears. Can’t wait for the Oscar nominations!
I love Alexandra’s voice so much
Damn, Gabriella has better romantic chemistry with Storm than Eduardo does.
Lmao
😂😂
Who is Eduardo
@@ndo533 Andrew Garfield's character in The Social Network
That's probably because Alexandra isn't straight lol
This musical has me in a chokehold, and I love it here
So beautiful🥺❤️ Their harmony at "Not only one sense, but use all five" is just mind-blowing
Vanessa’s last high note gives me chills … just amazing
Ahhh I do not think a c5 for her is high. That's right about where she's comfortable
Alexandra is just so stunning it’s ridiculous
I feel like everyone that has watched tick… tick… boom loves it, the problem is that it hasn’t blown up yet
Alexandra Shipp, your voice is good wonderful in the piece, when the movie came out I had to replay this part just to hear you sing! You sing with such truth and emotion! Thank you for make this one now I can watch this over and over
Same
The way these 2 are singing this song to each other, I’m getting a Maureen and Joanne vibe.
Alexandra has such a beautiful speaking voice and I'm so glad her accent comes through in her singing, she sounds incredible! And Vanessa is such a natural, her voice is so distinctive even when she's part of the ensemble, she still shines!! I love how great they sound together too 💖💖💖
Alexandra Shipp's vocals... just mesmerizing.
It’s like they knew I’ve been playing this on repeat 😆
I think they deserve some awards recognition
That last part is exquisitely magnificent and magical
That last part tho, Vanessa killed it. Love their voices together
Just finish watching it. Shipp killed it on this one. Hudgens wow a multi talented girl.
With this rendition of the song I do like to imagine that they are a lesbian couple singing this to each other lmao my bisexual dreams are being fulfilled
glad i'm not the only one lmao
My mind also went there.
Same girl SAAAAAME… the way they look at each other almost at the end, I mean C’mon!
😭lmao
A gay romance was the last piece to a already perfect musical
We need an entire album from Alexandra Shipp. 🎵♥
Criminal that Vanessa never got to sing the “it was only me and you” line 😆
Would love for them to do a live solo version for each of them just to show off their talents in range, power and delivery . But would def love for them to be in more films similar in this type of work .
Alex’s voice in this song (and the song itself) grabbed my heart and it hasn’t let it it go. It’s hauntingly beautiful. I wish she would have done the whole song alone, though this is cool too.
I love this song! Vanessa needs more roles like these! Alexandra is amazing too! This duet is so damn good. On repeat right now👈🏼
Once this song played in the movie, I immediately thought how Jonathan's hard work was all worth it. I always like Vanessa, but I can't forget Alexandra in this performance.
Vanessa always serving vocals and looks in musicals
This movie and this song deserve all the awards in the world.
Vanessa reminding us all that she came from High School musical🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤
No shit Sherlock Holmes
Thank GOD she’s choosing musical projects that aren’t poorly written trash these days!
Exactly. That's not a good thing btw
1:37-1:39 brings back major flashbacks to when there was me and you lol
@@asverith lmfao yea
I love the extra lyrics in this version. This song makes me smile and shed a tear every time I hear it… I’m addicted to this song
Vanessa’s voice blends with anyone. So good
Grammys, Tony’s, oscars all other award shows book these two to perform this on your shows. Hell they can go on tour singing just this song
Vanessa and Alex are amazing in this . They deserve more views with these video. Both are gorgeous and great to know they are BFF’s in real life! ❤️
I would die to hear vanessa sing this solo. Her voice is so magnetic
I have watched #TickTickBoom several times and I still couldn't get enough of it... It seems I'm the only one in my circle who's loving it this much. I guess it's for a specific audience, particularly those who are really into the musicals. And I'm ectatic to find this kind of audience here! Bravo Lin-Manuel Miranda, Andrew Garfield, Robin de Jesus, all the cast (and cameos), and of course the creator, Jonathan Larson!!! Thank you, life is so much beautiful watching this!!! 🤩❤✨
fax!!
They both look gorgeous
That third chorus, the vocal melody, is so brilliantly written and performed!!
Undeniable chemistry. And the song isnt even about the two of them
Alexandra has so much passion in her eyes. If one didn't see the movie you'd say they were love interests. I love her.
Alexandra Shipp is Andrew Garfield's MJ in the TASM3...im calling it now! It'd be perfect.
This was a beautiful and wonderful movie. I absolutely love seeing Vanessa in a musical again.
Omg! Vanessa is nailed it she is my favorite singer and actress all the time 😍🥰💖💖💖❤️❤️❤️❤️
The more I hear this song with Vanessa and Alexandra , the more I am convinced that this is a musical number in a classic Barbie movie 😍
i’m so glad we got another gabriella ballad!! and alexandra kills it!!
i really NEED an alexandra solo version of the song

This movie totally deserved more Oscar nominations, I cant believe it is like so underrated!!
Alexandra's voice is remarkable!! What a great song for her to sing
Alexandra made this song , the texture in her voice is so damn beautiful.
I feel like actual Netflix is not supporting this film or giving it Oscar chances...
Alexandria Shipp absolutely sang this song downnnnn. Definitely out performed Vanessa! She needs more recognition for sure!
Shes just shouting, no emotion at all
@@pauljohn961 clearly you know nothing about phrasing, no one has sung this overdone song like she has
Wow that song is awesome. These young ladies should record some music together.
Tick tick boom was a GREAT musical, one of the best. Alexandra, Vanessa and Andrew did a great job in the movie also the rest of the cast.
Plus Lin manuel!!
Y’all need to release the Green Green Dress scene fr
not joking when i say i've watched this movie once every month since its release. thats 12 months in a year, so once every month it would be about 10 or 11 times because its almost the end of '22. first time i watched was on new years eve, it ended at 11:59 pm and i was crying. and the the clock struck new year of '22 and i cried more, lol. perfect movie, perfect timing.
This is where Vanessa really shines. Love to see her in a singing role anytime
Andrew Garfield should be in a live performance in Rent tho, he is so talented and Vanessa and Alexandra voices are like both beautiful and harmonious.
I definitely recommend you to watch the full movie!
Who would he play ? Mark ?
I think Garfield is a little old for Rent at this point. I'm pretty sure he's almost 40. Then again, didn't stop Ben Platt.
Oh wait........
You two are perfect together in this song!!! Love you both. Goosebumps!!! Both drop dead gorgeous, to say the least. Talent overload!!!
50% of comments - Alexandra was great!
50% of comments - Vanessa killed it!
As it should be
Vanessa Hudgens is like the Magic Johnson of singing, she compliments the singer she's dueting with without overpowering but still can stand out.
This is the best song duo female I ever heard in my life
"Take Me or Leave Me" revamped looks GREAT.
The 3:51 repetition, especially with Vanessa's voice rifting off of Shipp's gave me rent life support vibes.
the harmonies at 3:45 are everything
something about the way alex sings "the fences inside" in the second chorus makes me ahhhhhh...🥰😭 idk why, its so smooth and pure... that whole section is my favorite. as well as the harmonies throughout and near the end between her and vanessa.
this scene in the movie had me in tears... seeing andrew crying while alex was singing it? like omgggggg. also the "why" sequence got me too. it always does, every damn time.
alexandra shipp is so cool in this
damn, vannessas aura is something, made me binge watch her movies after watching this movie ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I wasn’t ready for tick tick Boom to be so incredible
I've watched the movie clip a ton of times already. Happy to see the studio version of this.
Vanessa has inproved so much since HSM3
Alexandra and Vanessa are on 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Woah... I'm speechless. They had so much chemistry and this song isn't even about them
this song was always my favorite, because of the notes, the words, the vocals... everything.
but recently since finding out and knowing that this song, the song I LOVE MOST, took jonathan larson the LONGEST TO WRITE of them all?
it means more than it had. that proves that jonathan succeeded with this song... it is perfect, and all the months of thinking and wondering what to write and how to write it really did pay off.
