- I review the all-new 2019 Chevy Blazer RS AWD. With a V6 engine, sportier dampers, quicker steering and torque-vectoring AWD, the RS version has the right ingredients to make it a fun to drive SUV. Loving the POV on the backroads Matt. Alot of journalists tend not to display this angle but it really does give the viewer a better sense of the performance of the vehicle. Great review👍
The interior squeaks and rattles make it different from the rest of the crowd. It's a feature at no additional cost.

@@Prince-fr2lr If you've ever driven a car with it you know. Its abrupt when starting, it fucks with your AC, if you have a sound system it can mess with it by draining the battery (and therefore straining/ reducing its longevity) and it can wear out various parts (the starter among other things).

I'm currently driving a 2019 Chevy Equinox rental while my car is being fixed, and that delayed acceleration problem exists in that too. It's a 4 cyl turbo, so I thought maybe it was just a weird turbo lag of sorts, but maybe not... @mattmaranmotoring

Remember the good ol' days when the RS badge was only on Camaros? Chevy is doing the same thing that Ford is doing with the ST badge.
Same goes for Dodge with the RT badge.
Remember the 2000's and SS everything, the more things change....
@@gigatron2008 I wouldn't say so... the only thing Dodge makes with the RT badge have a V8. If anything they went back on track by not giving the RT badge to something like the caravan or journey, those have their own trim levels.

What’s that matter? ST was still just a mid trim level on the Camaro anyway, the SS trim however was not only top dog for the Camaro it was commonly seen on other Chevy cars and trucks and was never even exclusive to performance vehicles. You could get I6 powered SS Malibu’s in the 60s.
The way the headlights and the blinkers are remind me of how the 2014-2018 Jeep Cherokees are. I think of GM's going to bring back the Blazer name they should have made it a 2-door V8 rear drive like it originally was.

It's the trend. Mitsubishi reused the eclipse name, Chevy used the Blazer. Hopefully Ford is actually bring back the Bronco and not some street oriented garbage called a Bronco.

50k? That's luxury crossover territory. You can get better value by choosing a luxury brand crossover over the blazer.
Can you though? The RS starts at 40K and nothing in the luxury segment matches it at that price point. The X3 is way down on power, same goes for the GLC.
I don’t see much that competes with the Blazer in its price range when it comes to performance and features.

If they could give it the 6.2L and a rwd-bias awd it would help with giving the aggressive look some actual guts.
Or give it the xts 3.6tt. it has 420 hp and 430 tq in that car. Rwd bias awd, I do agree with. I really hope Cadillac starts using that engine in their crossovers beings that it can be configured for fwd and rwd duty.

The Abarth 500 also continues to accelerate after you lift off of the acceleration pedal. BUT that only occurs in economy mode. In sport mode, its throttle is perfect.
This one looks seriously awesome. Rear quarters/C pillars and the rear kinda reminds me of the RX and older CX5 i believe. 🤔

HI, thanks for your video. I have some questions because I am thinking about buying one. 1). After a week of driving, did the solid button piece on the steering wheel make any difference? At the beginning you said it was in the way of your thumbs/palm etc. 2). Are there any recent upgrades or options to decommission or turn off the auto start/stop? 3). How do you think this vehicle compares with the Range Rover Sport or Evoque (price aside) ? Finally, can you do a review of the Escalade and the McClaren 720S (the convertible one). thanks!
The 9-3 grip is like that because mostly women will drive this and they mostly use the 10-2 notches.

Grew up in a 1989 Blazer and remember going to the dealer with my parents to pick up at age 6 years. Was a horrible vehicle but somehow it lasted 10 years and $250k miles. Although my father was a mechanic and was always replacing something such as rear ends, steering column, etc. The first we had it the rear end was replaced under warranty three times. I learned to drive a manual in that Blazer the day before turning 13.

We have a 93 blazer with the 350 v8, but man even though this is a crossover it's beautiful
Used to own a 2003 Blazer Xtreme in college. Love the new one. I might just have to get this to feel nostalgic. Smaller engine than the 4.3 vortex engine but much more horsepower. Super expensive for its class but it is definitely better than anything else comparable.

It does not need padle shifters, it is a suv.
My Jeep Grand Cherokee has paddle shifters with a Hemi. I have a sport mode as well. I had the shifters in my Maxima as well, but the Hemi is much faster.
@@katherineverret3143 Yes because it has the big V8 in it. The 2019 Chevy Blazer was built to compete with a smaller SUVs like the Ford Edge.
If the Blazer was built to compete with smaller SUVs (and I agree it was) it's going to get murdered by the RAV4 and CRV. It's more expensive, gets worse MPGs, and will almost certainly be less reliable with lower resale values. It's insane to me that GM made this vehicle. Why not improve the Equinox? Why not make a Blazer that competes with 4runner and has at least the potential to be modded for off-road capability for the billions of us who don't enjoy the luxury of well-maintained plowed roads all year?
@@gorkyd7912 You want off road buy a Jeep. I did call it a suv but it is more of a cross over car than suv and you can buy a Tahoe. Buy you Toyota and Honda support Japan. Where all of the parts come from. I will keep buying from the Big Three.
@@roykindrick4186 The point is it's not competitive anywhere, it's worse than existing vehicles in every segment I could try to put it in. It's not a performance SUV, it's not a luxury SUV, it's far costlier to own than existing commuter SUVs, it doesn't have the frame and suspension for heavy loads or towing, and it can't off-road. I would love to buy US-made but honestly I never buy brand-new cars anyway; I support Americans directly by buying their used cars.

Mr. Sphlictor Luis Ramirez Ok tech, on-road driving capability, and comfort are superior to the old Blazer... but the Original Blazer Nameplate wasn’t meant to be about ANY of those things... hence why I said it is a disgrace to it’s namesake and does not pay homage to it’s heritage. The Original Blazer was a super tough truck that you could throw a ton of gear in, go off-roading to remote spots and camp, and you could modify it and make it an absolute off-roading BEAST! V8 platform, body on frame, short wheelbase, tough, simple and durable... those are the roots of the Blazer. This thing is just a dressed up, overpriced, over teched, yuppy mommy car. Looks cool, but it’s just another crossover SUV at the end of the day. If it had a nastier engine, some better 4WD technology, and better seats and shifter, with about a $10k cheaper price tag... I MIGHT’ve been impressed. It should’ve competed directly with the new Ford Bronco coming out, or with the 4Runner or Wrangler, but instead it competes with other boring and expensive crossovers.
And Luis, you might want to consider being more respectful with your language to others. You wouldn’t talk like that to a stranger’s face out in public, so don’t act so tough just because you have the anonymity and safety of being behind your device screen. No need to be rude, just politely and intellectually discuss your points or where you differ with others and be respectful, no need to lip off with foul language just because you disagree with someone alright. The RDX is a size smaller, has less power, is half a second slower 0-60, another half second slower in the quarter, worse braking, worse lateral acceleration, and worse mileage.
The passport is a much better competitor but the Chevy still edges it out in performance and is obviously intended to be a drivers crossover.

daaper the transmission they are using in this model is built in Mexico alongside certain under international models , the under pinnings of critical items are made of plastic which wear off like hell in the first 24 months , The six speed really can’t handle the turbo 4 cylinder at peak and it’s highly detuned in the v6 versions

The 2019 Blazer transmissions consist of the GM 9-speed automatic transmission, as follows:
2.5L LCV I-4 engine is mated to the 9T50 transmission (M3D)
3.6L LGX V-6 engine is mated to the 9T65 transmission (M3V)
@@effend446 the 9T50 used with 2.5l 4-cylinder is assembled in Mexico and has been used in a number of Buick and Chevy models. The 9T65 is assembled around the world.
The engines are assembled in the U.S.

@@MarioSantana1335 I do, my truck is a 2000 Silverado 5.3 stock with 247,000 miles original engine and transmission... warranty is nice and dandy, but when it runs out it can be an issue, I know people usually sell them by then or trade in, but i rather just own my vehicle and drive it into the ground Haha per se
Decent crossover and looks good, but imo they have to make a much more offroad ready version and even a two door option if they want to live up to the "Blazer" name.

IMO, this looks MUCH BETTER in Premier trim! We saw the 2 at the Chicago Auto Show and it wasn't even close...IMO ofcoarse. The tailights look like something from a Lambo, the front looks like a Camaro but what I really don't get is why does this only have the NA 3.6L V6 engine when a TT is readily available🤔
I'm not an SUV fan persay but Iike THIS vehicle for sure, even more impressive inperson, seriously. How one could pic the Edge, in ANY trim level, over this is a real head scratcher (yes, I know what the ST has under the hood)🤔

... but I remember a Chevy Blazer like rough off road car. A thing you could abuse and blast through a wall. I remember that I always stopped at the fuel station where one guy had a super cool ex US Army Version. As there have been not much US Cars around this was a amazing view and I still want to own one today. Not this new one which looks nothing like what I would have expected as a Blazer, but for sure a M1009 CUCV :-D

@@inyoface690 Would I want Chevy to make a 700hp Blazer? Sure, I just don't think it would sell well. A 700hp crossover is not going to sell no matter who makes it. Crossovers are disposable vehicles that typically see motor/trans issues by 50k no matter what brand you buy, so a 700hp doesn't seem logical IMO. I could see something like a Tahoe or Suburban having a factory trim/package with an LT4 like the Hennessy versions, that I would buy in a heartbeat.

Yet look at the two brands. Sure Dodge is selling more challengers than the Camaro but that's because they don't have anything else besides the charger. While GM has the regal, Malibu, CT6 soon the CT5 and CT4. The Malibu isn't exciting sure but they have other cars that are exciting.

I have the 2018 Equinox LS. It has the stop start feature. Biggest misconception is that it always shuts off at every complete stop. It's does not. It only shuts off depending on how you come to that complete stop. If or when it does shut the engine off and whatever you are running while the engine is off. The system will restart the engine when it recognizes battery drain. Otherwise it's not a big of a deal. And the starter and such has been given a more robust build to handle the stop start moments.

I'm glad you spent alot of time talking about the pricing and talking about its competitors. The price is the main point of the Blazer RS review. Anything less than the RS trim as seen is just not a great Blazer, so you will need to get one as tested and $50k for it is absurd. I understand the cost of all cars is alot higher than most think. A fully loaded Corolla Hatchback XSE is $28k for example. $30k is normal for most cars nowadays. But once you get to the $50k range, you need to take a step back and reassess the situation. If this Blazer was out the door as tested for about $40-42k, I think they would have a true hit on their hands. But most things on it are just parts off other GM cars. The instrument panel and gauges are taken right from the Buick Regal or Lacrosse, the engine is borrowed from most other GM V6 cars like the Regal GS, Impala V6, etc. Other interior bits are taken right out of the standard Camaros. And to tell you the truth, I really like the look of this Blazer RS. Very sharp and I'm not even an SUV guy. But all this parts bin sharing along with bad build quality is heresy to ask $50k for it. It's really just too bad. I would get a Honda Passport or if I really had to get a 2 row SUV, the 2019 Acura RDX A-Spec without a doubt and they are $45k for SH-AWD models.

You want sporty for less than $50K, get a Durango RT. 5.7L V8. Plus you can tow a decent sized trailer with it.
