This is one of the biggest questions I get so in this Lightroom video tutorial I am going to briefly tell you what is Lightroom, Why use Lightroom, Why photographers use Lightroom and why Ed Gregory thinks its the most powerful tool for photographers. What is adobe photoshop lightroom and what is adobe Lightroom?

This was great, I have been researching "photography editing software lightroom" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Piyamilla Aphonic Prestige - (search on google ) ? It is a smashing one off guide for discovering how to use these lightroom presets to edit your photos without the hard work. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my brother in law got cool success with it.

+caco ko i would say the complete opposite Lightroom is extremely powerful if you are a photographer. the place to stat and end even edit. photoshop is just to add a few bits of magic. Lightroom is definitely the best part of the adobe cc suite if you are a photographer. in my option. :)

Thanks! I have been subscribing to Lightroom, but haven't been using it. I use camera RAW and Photoshop. No body has ever explained Lightroom to me like you have. I think I will try it.
wait, what you have been using lightroom. Your life is about to change. Well maybe not life but you know, the way you edit photos. honestly, you will see just how powerful lightroom CC is. Especially if you are use using ACR lightroom is going to be a real eye opener. It may take a little getting used to but you wait until you get the hang of it. I have a full course here on youtube so get stuck in.

I'm so glad I found you! I have been doing my own product photography for my business (natural soaps). I edit those with picmonkey (lol). Which is a great little program for that basic purpose but I'm growing a 2nd business in infant and portrait photography. I'm very comfortable with my camera but I'm still learning true edit programs. I love or tutorials that are clear and to the point. Thank you

Hello, excellent video, I will be using adobe cs5 and lr2.7 after many years away, wondering if changes and enhancements make the old vs much more difficult? also if subscribe to the monthly version is any of that software on your hardrive or the cloud? and same for my photos? Thx Bill

+Geoff Gadow I understand the change. it can e a challenge (I learned on film intact slide too). A lot of the concepts and ideas are the same as the digital world is mainly replicating the film. however now digital has far surpassed the film capabilities which for me as an artist is extremely exciting. Think of editing as your darkroom. it is a vital part of the process and must not be overlooked. you will love lightroom I am sure. Work through my tutorials and you will be up and running in now time. Good luck and remember my tutorials are for professionals but also for lightroom tutorials for beginners.

Until I found you vids, I was struggling to understand one side of Lightroom (even after watching a couple of Adobe ones), having watched the first three, its beginning to make sense and the pace and content is spot on, thanks & I'm picking up loads, cheers.

For years I've been wanting a succinct answer to this question (and admittedly a reason to start using it). The cataloging feature alone (without the need to have your externals plugged in) is reason enough. Searching for files is a nightmare now, with decades worth of images on four externals and only two available ports to use at a time. Thank you, most sincerely, for the valuable info.

loved the video thank you for all the info because I was all kinds of confused. Where should I get Lightroom is there a way to get it/ buy it for less than 119 $ I saw they have a monthly plan but does the 9.99 give me access to the Lightroom classic cc mask? I particularly want that feature Would you recomend another software that does the same thing. Still very new to photography and learning what all is out there.
Thanks Ed. I just got a Wacom tablet. Trying it out. Fantastic. I don't think most people know that the power of Lightroom is equivalent, or greater, than anything we had in a darkroom in the film era. For most people, Lightroom can be the basis for photo processing for all their photographs. I see Photoshop as an enhancement to Lightroom. Photoshop allows you to take photos you have already processed in Lightroom, and add or subtract parts of the image. For many years I thought I needed Photoshop to process my images, but I was wrong. I really need Lightroom, and an occasional use of Photoshop to enhance my images.
+Dave Finlay I 100% agree with you. All my photos starts nd end in Lightroom CC. Some of them may need specific enhancements or design elements in photoshop but most of them get all the work done inside Lightroom. So, What is lightroom? the best thing ever.. hehehe
