- Since the first discovery of stone projectile points in association with mammoth remains there has been fascination with how people interacted with these species in the past. The archaeological evidence is clear that humans hunted mammoth and other Ice Age megafauna, but questions still remain about the role these animals played in food systems for Pleistocene people. This presentation will talk about what we know about mammoth hunting during the Ice Age in North America and how new research at mammoth butchery sites can provide a better understanding of the relationship between foragers and these multi-ton animals.
