Monterey Jazz Festival On Tour (Live in New York) | JAZZ NIGHT IN AMERICA

- How do you distill the spirit of the Monterey Jazz Festival into a single band? Considering the ethos of the annual event, the band was designed to be a celebration of diverse international talent, forward-thinking sensibilities and just plain killin' performances. For artistic director Tim Jackson, that was the task at hand in 2018, marking the festival's 60th anniversary.
The end result is The Monterey Jazz Festival On Tour. It's a band of six individually acclaimed performers from the next generation of stars: Cécile McLorin Salvant, vocals; Bria Skonberg, trumpet, vocals; Melissa Aldana, tenor saxophone; Christian Sands, piano and musical director; Yasushi Nakamura, bass, and Jamison Ross, drums, vocals. The band toured through North America in March and April of 2019 and Jazz Night in America captured the band's stop at Jazz at Lincoln Center, which features original tunes from different members of the band with new accents from project collaborators. --COLIN MARSHALL

This is impressive. It's not fair that the drummer is really talented singer...
Shoutout to my Pop/Rock History Teacher. I was here and doing this assignment.
Singing and playing drums...OMG. Amazing
I can think of a couple of musicians who do this (Donovan Melero from Hail the Sun, for example). You should look up videos of people doing it, it's very entertaining!
I’m commenting because I had to write a music report on this piece and I actually enjoyed it.
I feel guilty watching this for free

It has been been the fourth time listening to this that I've realized... near the end of the song Vision, the trumpet and the saxophone are actually playing the same notes, creating a new instrumental sound almost, an awesome blend of texture. 17:10

Madame McLorin Salvant come out of her kitchen
Typical jazz: The musicians play fantastically but the song sounds like it was written at the insane asylum :-).
this is quite literally awful. it is such a travesty that we have allowed beauty to be drained from music and the other fine arts.
This contemporary jazz is putting me to sleep. New Orleans and European jazz is more lively. Joan Chamorro jazz band in Spain, the Carling Family in Sweden, Tuba Skiny in New Orleans, New Orleans jazz in Japan, and gypsy jazz in Europe is where it is at.
Sir Eugene Courtney ok boomer
Weird flex but OOOOOOOOOOK
You’re a hater. Diff kinds of music express different purposes. That’s why the genres are as diverse as the human experience itself. You’ll enjoy this music when you’re ready to
Thanks for dropping European names, but you're slightly misunderstood the magic of all it, that was calling a jazz outhere. :]
woke,,why is she wearing a mades dress? Skip
Boring...no swing, no groove
Just go get some of Amon Tobin (Supermodified) :]]]
