'Mr. Sir Jon" Batiste, you put your Soul in the world and makes me feel happier with my own Soul. I almost 78 yrs old; when I hear your genius God given talent, my body feels no age. As a little skinny girl, I spent a lot of time with my Grandmother who lived in Possum Kingdom. Yeah, we would put her record player that only played vinyl records. how the heck does this guy bring Jazz back to us young people like this. It's like "I get it" now, after i feel like probably decades Jazz been left in my grandpa's basement
Bro, Jon Batiste just opened a portal to another universe with this one. I’m here vibing in my living room, but somehow I feel like I’m in some underground jazz club in the 60s, sipping whiskey, snapping my fingers, and drowning in pure euphoria. This isn’t music anymore-it’s a full-body experience. Every note is like a heartbeat, and I swear I’m not even the same person after watching this. This is what life sounds like when you let go of everything and just feel it
I'd have paid for this. Sitting in my home and comfortable, enjoying a refreshment and watching this like I have front row seats. Doesn't get much better than this. What a treat Jon Batiste is and all he inspires.
It's now 1:54am in Saigon and the city is sleeping. I'm now officially the only person in Vietnam who's feet are swinging around with a constant smile. Thanks Jon.
We just watched the most anticipated movie, "American Symphony." I want to SHOUT it out to the WORLD! Jon Batist, IS THE MOST TALENTED ARTIST IN THE WORLD! He's someone that restores hope in humanity. I just want to be his friend cuz I really FEEL his Love for life!❤
This is where I discovered the late Roy Hargrove from one of his amazing songs called Soulful on the 14th of October 2020 40:58. Three days before his birthday 51st birthday (16th of October). Thank you Jon Batiste for paying such an honourable tribute. Rest in peace Roy Hargrove. (South Africa - Gauteng - Rynfield). ❤️

Just discovered this guy over on a Tiny Desk Concert and I have a complaint : how is anyone supposed to get the dinner cooked and dance around the kitchen at the same time? I mean, give a girl a break 🤗 Fantastic, just fantastic. Thank you xx
That is right, John Baptist is so enthusiastic, soft, positive and gifted! 👏 I like him. And girls as men need time to think and dare to build their life as they dream it and really want it to be. We can do it! Good continuation to everybody.🌞
I stumbled upon this video two days ago. I’ve listen to this performance five times already. This music is so beautifully written and amazingly done. The skillfulness of the artist is incredible. My GOD this man is so talented.
It feels like a walk in the cool rain after a week or two of oppressive summer heat. I just feel more wonderful listening to this ... almost like a palate cleanse for the soul.
What I wouldn't pay to be present at that concert breathing in and basking in all the amazing vibes and grooves they so effortlessly lay down. Jon is a true musical genious and the band is as good as it gets.

Listening to jazz has been one of the most important parts of my life since I discovered it more than 65 years ago. I grew up listening to musicians like Prez, Billie, Carmen, Sarah, Basie, Duke, Kenton, Chet, Desmond, Tatum, Bill Evans, Miles, Rollins, Clifford, Trane, Zoot, Bird, Al Cohn, Monk, Barry Harris, Thad, and Mulligan. When I hear Jon quote Bird, Monk, Duke, and other jazz greats on the Colbert show, it reassures me that musicians like he, Regina Carter, and Anat Cohen will continue to cause this Great American Music to long endure and grow. Jon is also a guy who "gives back" -- there's a video online of him working in a very supportive way with one of today's younger singers; the recording makes both of them look and sound great! Jon is, in every way, "carrying on the tradition!"
And so was Otis Williams, whose mother, Sophie, had a charge account with us. So did Eddie Kendrick. Meeting those people and serving them was the greatest joy of my life. I hope you get to see this post, I would love to hear from you. I got married and moved to Texas and I’ve been stuck here for 30 years but there’s nothing like home.. I miss it every day. Roll Tide!
Jon Batiste is a blessing to the world of music and all who live on the plant. He expresses love and happiness with his own brand of music and a smile that will never go out of style.

The genius of Jon Baptist’s music is beyond words. This particular piece of music was mellow, sensual, and sexy. What fantastic rendition of a childrens song. Absolutely stunning, and beautifully done. God bless you.

@@stretch54 but i do kinda agree that part just seems too chaotic for me...but maybe that's jazz, different levels of chaos and different people enjoy it at different levels

All through Quarantine, I cared for a 2 year old, while her single Mama worked on zoom meetings... After lunch, to wind down for her nap, I always put this on... She & her Mama LOVE Jon's music... What a thrill to watch his success for SOUL, as well... Thank You, npr and Jon! Hooray for amazing music for this Nanny and the Families for whom I care! Peace & Love.

enjoyable time ... Jon Batiste is such a true talent ... still strong in 2022
Been listening to this for a month straight
16:44-16:50 guys, check this out, those guys have just broke tempo, in the middle of trumpet solo, and came back as nothing happened. OMG, this is advanced AF. Kudos to this wonderful band.
They never broke tempo. It was the same throughout. They changed the phrasing though.
@@stretch54 but i do kinda agree that part just seems too chaotic for me...but maybe that's jazz, different levels of chaos and different people enjoy it at different levels
I can barely contain my emotions when I hear JB. What a mensch!!!
I love seeing the reactions of the audience. The language of music makes more sense than any tongue, learning it is totally worth while, letting it affect you is unavoidable
Ambrosia! Beautifully balanced. Heaven to my ears. Love the inclusion of the gorgeous talented ladies.
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face.
I miss going to plays and concerts soooo much! I hope I get an opportunity to see this band perform. Jon Batiste is just a joy to watch.
without being superficial, he's got such charm and beauty, but what's striking is his musical gift, his sensible presence, it doesn't let you forget that that is what matters.
And thanks to npr for presenting quality programs and productions like this!
Each time I see this young man one word comes to mind. JOYOUS!! Jon is a walking talking instrument of JOY. I look upon him and it is GOOD. Thank you.
