Dignam disappeared so hard that Billy had no one, that's not a friend and he shat on the work ethic and memory of his superior there. And Dignam killing Sullivan can be solely cause he knows he's a rat and got Queenam killed. He tells Colin "I run rat fucks like you okay.I don't like em." so if he liked Billy is dubious at best.
Dignum did that for queenan and himself. He was probably sad for Billy, but probably just looked at it as dying in the line of duty. As far as queenan, that death was on Billy just as much as the people that actually killed him because if it wasn't for Billy demanding a meet he would never have gotten killed
@@patrickevans9604 Pretty sure that's the definition of victim blaming. Whenever Billy would want to meet,if Queenam got killed, Billy's to blame? And if Queenam wanted to meet and got killed, that's on Billy? They're dealing with murderous, violent psychopaths. If they get killed during a meet, they knew the risk but it's still not their fault. I saw this IN THEATERS. It’s POSSIBLY the ONLY TIME I’ve heard an ENTIRE AUDIENCE AUDIBLY GASP all at once (with even a FEW PEOPLE like myself yelling out variations of “OMFG,” “WTF,” or “HOLY CRAP”).
Because everyone was trying to figure out who that was that killed Billy. How do you have the protagonist killed by an inconsequential character up until that point?
That one lady with the headphones, just about everyone else was tickled to see Mark show up at the end and finally get Matt Damon, but this movie just traumatized her so bad that by that point she's just okay, whatever.
It’s funny bc that last reaction channel with the British couple is the only one of these channels I’ve ever watched bc I like their chemistry and commentary, but they’re like the only ones who had the reaction I’d want for the end scene everyone else was just like “oh”
One of the greatest ending sequences in cinema history. Im glad they also included the clip of the rat cuz alot of people miss that on their first one (or more) viewings. And the fact that it has never been made clear if Marky Mark was another person on the "inside" or if he was a truly good cop crossing the line to get revenge for Capt Queenan's murder....or if he just really hated Damon's character, LOL
I saw him as being super loyal to Queenan and even though he messed with him, he actually felt for Billy too. He was already dubious of Sullivan so when Madeline sent him the goods after everybody else got murdered, he wasn't going to let that stand and decided to take Sullivan out as revenge.
I remember that when Marc Ruffalo accidentally spoiled avengers, but seeing that clip years later I’m wondering was that just a pre planned bit? I’m not much of a marvel guy so maybe that’s like common knowledge and I’m super late to the party.
I don’t know if it’s better but it’s different for sure. It’s been a while but I think the Matt Damon character doesn’t die and instead has to live with the guilt of what’s happened. He’s way more sympathetic in the Japanese version. Two movies are great. Scorsese really made the film his own
A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad Gita; Vishnu is trying to persuade the prince that he should do his duty, and to impress him, takes on his multiarmed form and says: “I am the king of the world wooooo”
I am a 28 yr old man grew up in a remote village in South India. Even I have seen The Departed when I was in highschool. Does this reaction video mean all these Americans are watching it for the 1st time ? WTF! Where were they ?
I never got the chance to watch this movie because it was spoiled for me immediately. So I watch this ending with no context and no shock or enjoyment of the film lol. And I gotta be honest. This is ridiculous lol
There would definitely be some busted ear drums. For anyone who's never shot a firearm, they are much louder than you think. Especially in a confined space. Even a suppressor sounds kinda like slamming a car door.
That ruined the movie for me. Makes you think that DiCaprio's character has got his stuff together and is gonna take down Matt Damon's character. I felt lost? I didn't like it. But at least Mark Wahlberg's character finally got him at the end. It's still a great movie but I hate that elevator scene. I think Leo died more time in his movies than he did when he survived the whole movie.
A great film? It’s regarded as one of the best things cinema has to offer. I haven’t watched that version you said and I’ll give it a watch but the departed is much more than just a great film
To this day, I believe they ruined a great remake by tacking on that cheesy ending with Mark Wahlberg getting revenge. Absolutely unnecessary Hollywood ending.
Sorry to say, the original HK movie is better, simpler. They did not have that Warlberg character to end his doings. He wins and walks free with guilt.
@@w415800 A pretty terrible reason for a movie being better. This one can still stand alone and if its dependent on the sequels filling in gaps then it has issues.

Worst ending to a great movie ever. NEVER should be acceptable to have the protagonist killed by a guy that you don't even know who he is. What did he have, 1 line before he killed Billy? It was like they couldn't figure out how to end it so they just had everybody kill everybody. I was on the edge of my seat up until Costello was killed. That Ruffalo insert! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 so funny and so uncomfortable
That's why it's called The Departed because everyone's fucking departed at the end of the movie.

Dignam killing Sullivan has to be one of the most iconic and satisfying moments in any film.
Everyone like noooo “Leo”!
I love how almost everyone's faces match Damon's "WTF" face. 😂
The guy that kept laughing at everyone getting shot, made me laugh too. Lol!
I get the feeling that he had seen it before. He kept glancing towards his gf(?) to see her reaction.

95% of these reactors have seen it. 95% of TH-cam is staged.
Watch the original (infernal affairs) even better

God i love this movie. It is a masterpiece of storytelling and holy hell such a turbulent final sequence

Marky Mark for the win!
