Don't dismiss professional movie makers, be they visual artists, editors or whatever. We are a large portion of people who care deeply for our job, and the product we are making (most of the time). As long as it isn't some soul-eating dead end job in a kids cartoon or shitty tv-show, we do a good job.

What I like about this short film, is that it does understand and even more so importantly, respects, the core essence of the Spawn comic book both narrative and tone. Spawn, although the main character, works better as a Boogieman that you barely get to see and that he appears at the exact moment he needs to, letting his supporting cast to be fleshed out in their own storylines. Congratulations to your team. This is indeed a love letter to the characters by Image Comics. Wish you guys all the success you deserve.
Spawn can work as both. The man has all the skills and badassery to eat up the screen as an action hero but also be the boogeyman that has an incredible cast build him up and his appearance, making the audience anticipate his arrival. All it takes is for the right director to harness that spirit

BUT PLEASE pitch this movie to some executive or director, because it makes no sense how a fan made film has outshined 80% of the films produced in Hollywood last year and this year also. Tom Karampas The Hollywood movie came out in 1997 I think. We did not have the state of the art technology then that we have today. So it's no surprise that the CGI here looks better.

Its because Todd McFarlane wants complete creative control and none of the Studios he has pitched to would give him that. so, instead he decided to try and go it alone. but with limited budget he settled on a story revolving around the detective and Spawn is pretty much a side character.
I actually learned about this fan film because of Mortal Kombat 11 where they made Spawn's intro inspired from this 5:36 scene. But oh boy, was this worth the watch! Good job to Michael Paris hope you've reached heights!

This was excellent! It really captured the mood and vibe of Spawn and the SPFX were really well done for a fan film of this level. Spawn himself was just as intimidating as he should be, and that voice alone made my short hairs stand up. Well done, folks!

Derek Power the graphics of that movie from the 90s was well ahead of its time, and i thought it was excellent! this video here.... if it was given the same chance... would *utterly* blow the 90s movie outa the water! the graphics were quite impressive for an indie video! given the limited funding and such... if given the same chance the 90s film got... yea, i'd pay to see this! (i don't go to the theater very often, so for me... that's saying something!)
gabeeen1 it will be a very different spawn from what we're used to. Todd mcfarlane has mentioned that there could be a heavy horror element to the film. this makes me think that we won't actually see much of spawn himself but it's to show how terrifying he was during his time in the alleys
i cant even try and write how much this would make an amazing film. it would be better than those xmen movies and easily outdo the original spawn. all i can say is this needs to be made. even if we have to wait a year it would be amazing. and dont change it. dont waver from this path.

I appreciate the subtleties in this fan film. Using the horror film motifs and really setting the tone of this universe PROPERLY. There aren't a lot of exemplary action/horror films I am a fan of but of this next adaptation follows this type of formula then Spawn will dominate the box office I promise. Thank you for this.
If they make a Spawn movie please put Keith Davids voice for Spawn! He did an amazing voice work as Spawn in the animated series. Even though he's old and they may do a backstory use one actor for the backstory and when Al becomes Spawn just use Keith Davids. Not trying to argue but the movie was made in 1997, so its been 17 years of technology and programming that gets easier to have/use when they made this one. I would love to see a movie adaptation that had this theme/look and graphics. Not to mention people just know how to make better films know *hopefully* and using decent cgi is getting cheaper and easier to use as time goes by. Plus you really have to give it to some people creativity, I really likes the subtle effects such as the shadows creeping and a few other moments.

The Actors were also the crew. Directing, sound design, cinematography, everything. That's just amazing what they produced as such a small crew doing everything.
There was barely any story at all and the beginning went on too long, IMO but the Sfx were top notch and the voice acting was good. I would like to see more with a developed story and some character interaction not just reaction.
I must say, I agree. There was potential, but the mother had an accent which made her opening lines incomprehensible. Also, I had no idea what was going on in the final scene.
I take it thta Lucifer, who I suppose thru inferrence had been captive, was now free and Spawn was collecting all those who had once turned agaisnt him to return to fight him once more. She was a witch who after gaining her powers from Satan (Lucifer) had gone into hiding, maybe after helping to capture him. Spawn had her son remove the charm that was keeping her power at bay. This may only be my own interpretation and nothing to do with what is actually going on.

You have to remember that most short films/fan films give the viewers a vague story. It's intentional. This gives you enough information to know where the story is heading and lets you makes your own conclusions about it. If someone is unable to understand what's going on in this film it's because it wasn't bastardized like most feature films are.
This is AMAZING!!! This is how Spawn should be portrayed. I have a uncle who works in Hollywood who might be able to get you in or at least get something started. I would love to see you make a movie out of this!

Those two identical twin girls could be a homage to a similar scene from Stanley Kubrick's movie "The Shining." Its because Todd McFarlane wants complete creative control and none of the Studios he has pitched to would give him that. so, instead he decided to try and go it alone. but with limited budget he settled on a story revolving around the detective and Spawn is pretty much a side character.

I actually learned about this fan film because of Mortal Kombat 11 where they made Spawn's intro inspired from this 5:36 scene. But oh boy, was this worth the watch! Good job to Michael Paris hope you've reached heights!

This is what I absolutely love about fan films: They respect the source material and the audience better than any Hollywood studio in existence.
This was excellent! It really captured the mood and vibe of Spawn and the SPFX were really well done for a fan film of this level. Spawn himself was just as intimidating as he should be, and that voice alone made my short hairs stand up. Well done, folks!

gabeeen1 it will be a very different spawn from what we're used to. Todd mcfarlane has mentioned that there could be a heavy horror element to the film. this makes me think that we won't actually see much of spawn himself but it's to show how terrifying he was during his time in the alleys

I appreciate the subtleties in this fan film. Using the horror film motifs and really setting the tone of this universe PROPERLY. There aren't a lot of exemplary action/horror films I am a fan of but of this next adaptation follows this type of formula then Spawn will dominate the box office I promise. Thank you for this.
If they make a Spawn movie please put Keith Davids voice for Spawn! He did an amazing voice work as Spawn in the animated series. Even though he's old and they may do a backstory use one actor for the backstory and when Al becomes Spawn just use Keith Davids. It'll make sense because he went to hell and became a hell Spawn explaining the new voice.

Not trying to argue but the movie was made in 1997, so its been 17 years of technology and programming that gets easier to have/use when they made this one. I would love to see a movie adaptation that had this theme/look and graphics. Not to mention people just know how to make better films know *hopefully* and using decent cgi is getting cheaper and easier to use as time goes by. Plus you really have to give it to some people creativity, I really likes the subtle effects such as the shadows creeping and a few other moments.

So many people are easily satisfied by some visual effects and a non emotive story. Not going to dislike it though, effort was put into it.
There was barely any story at all and the beginning went on too long, IMO but the Sfx were top notch and the voice acting was good. I would like to see more with a developed story and some character interaction not just reaction.
I must say, I agree. There was potential, but the mother had an accent which made her opening lines incomprehensible. Also, I had no idea what was going on in the final scene.
I take it thta Lucifer, who I suppose thru inferrence had been captive, was now free and Spawn was collecting all those who had once turned agaisnt him to return to fight him once more. She was a witch who after gaining her powers from Satan (Lucifer) had gone into hiding, maybe after helping to capture him. Spawn had her son remove the charm that was keeping her power at bay. This may only be my own interpretation and nothing to do with what is actually going on.

You have to remember that most short films/fan films give the viewers a vague story. It's intentional. This gives you enough information to know where the story is heading and lets you makes your own conclusions about it. If someone is unable to understand what's going on in this film it's because it wasn't bastardized like most feature films are.
I really like the subtle part where the fly flies out into the bottom black bar for a second before landing on her face.

With todays tech, you could have a pretty good Spawn game on par with something like Bayonetta in terms of combat animation, and MK11 showed this, a new game now would be pretty cool

Those two identical twin girls could be a homage to a similar scene from Stanley Kubrick's movie "The Shining." The maker of this fan film took such care and detail, that I didn't spot this detail in a long time. When I did, I felt like sharing with everyone, and so I wrote that comment.
