  • how to make a pet bed with rope and yarn. Sew a pet bed
    How to make a rope pet bed. NO knitting NO crocheting DIY inexpensive pet bed. Here is a cheap and very easy pet bed simply made from rope and recycled wool. Or you can keep it flat and make any size rug you like. Or make it smaller, build it up, add handles and turn it into a basket. I had a lot of recycled wool from a sweater I was given. I bought some cheap rope and made my cat a super bed with it. I want to thank my sister Sandra for showing me how to do this.

    Really cool! I’ve seen a lot of rope bowls and baskets sewn on a machine. I have never seen the rope hand stitched with yarn before. So pretty.

    I love this. I remember learning to do this technique in high school art class. I believe I still have a needle and some rope. I can use my scrap yarn to make two doggy beds for a friend. Take an old pillow make pillow cover to stuff inside.This is such a great idea. thanks.

      I made one for my puppy last year but he began to eat it. I need to make a new one now he is a bit older I need a specific size to fit an area in my craft room for him to sleep while I craft. Cats love them though and you can wash them too.

      Try the rope that is already bright and colourful, then you only need a contrasting wool to bind it together. You can make baskets and all sorts with it.

      If you buy the rope that is fancy you won't need to wind wool all around it. So this equalises the extra cost of better rope. You can tie them up with string too but a ball of wool is only around £1 Thank you for watching I appreciate it xx

      And so versatile. It is even easier if you buy the rope that is already fancy and just use a corresponding shade off wool to sew it together. I bought red and black stripe stuff which is thicker too I am going to make a tall basket for all my odd balls of wool. It will only have cost me £6 and my time. I may do a video to show how it turns out.

      If you dont keep the rows to the edge it will start to go in like an igloo. In one of the other comments the lady said hers was going in towards the middle but she was just going to make it into igloo type bed. Great idea about the handle I never thought of that.

    This is a wonderful idea for a pet. I made a small basket with this technic, you can add pretty designs by laying the string in wave-lines for example. But your idea made me think about making one for my dog :D Thank you!

    • @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel
      @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the tip too as I have 2 big hanks of thicker rope that already has a lovely covering. I do hope you subscribe to my channel and spread the word on my channel to others. Thank you.

Yes you can rip out high street ones and also ones in charity shops I have ripped back many many PerUna cardigans and jumpers as I love the cotton stuff they make them with. In the USA its called Frogging because you rip it, rip it, rip it, out (sounds like ribbit from a frog) here in the UK we boring and just call it ripping it out.

    To figure out how much yarn you have used, weigh the finished object, then weigh the unused spool of rope, and finally subtract the difference in weights; the resulting difference is how much yarn was used.
    Great video I'm thinking about making a basket for my kitties, perhaps big enough for my dogs because the dogs are jealous green beans. LOL :p

    Beautiful. I used this technique to make a fabric bowl using strips of 1" fabric and clothesline rope. Turned out very nice.
    Your audio is kinda tough to hear in places. It sounds very muffled. It gets better when you move closer to the camera sovim not sure if you can correct it. I missed some of the directions because of it but was familiar enough with the technique to understand. Just thought you'd like to know.
    So how did your kitty like the bed? Not sure my dog would stay in it. He likes to be right by my side. Crazy pup.

    • @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel
      @AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, He loved it but I made it a bit too small for him to stretch out in so he went back to sleeping on his pom pom banket and now my pom pom rug. Why don't you try my rug tutorial maybe your fur baby will like to sleep on that. My sister made hers the same way as you did with material but I can't sew hahah. I now have a separate microphone I finally made enough on my channel to go buy a mike so hopefully, that will be better.

      th-cam.com/video/scWK8UUHUJk/w-d-xo.html This is how I did it very easy I just unpicked the seam careful not to cut the body of the clothing and ripped it out from the top to the bottom. I need to make a better video as this one had a crochet edge I had to remove first but the principle is the same for any hand made or even shop bought woolen garments the one in this video was a shop bought cardigan. Just to show these can be unpicked too.

      Just keep adding to it to make it higher then work your way in the same way you worked it wider. Better still I think I will do a tutorial on an enclosed hood one. I'm off on holiday I might do it then to keep me busy hahahaah

      Ohhh Noooooo why don't you buy the rope that is already covered then all you need to do it sew it together. I have just got some red and black striped rope so all I need to do is sew it. I'm going to make a hooded bed for my friend's cat.

    It wasn’t beautiful idea, but your recording was hard to understand because of reverberating echo on you recording.

      I am in a very large room when I film. I have tried other cameras and even a separate microphone. It may be time to go to a class or something as the audio is my biggest issue. It could even possibly be that I am almost deaf ( truly I wear 2 hearing aids all the time ) I try to get someone else to listen to them before I publish but since my son moved out it is harder because no one is here all the time to do this for me. I will keep working on it though.

      Your video was fine. You even added subtitles for everything. People can hit pause if they need to review or reread. ♡
