I don't knot & weave in, I just lay the yarn flat on 'top' & stitch over it, I start a few stitches before the change & pick up the new yarn, then lay the other down & just keep going, if that makes sense.
It's the way I was taught. 🤷♀️

I read about a cafe in Atlanta like that, where you can visit cats.

What an awesome thing for you to make for the cat's you visit. I have 7 all indoor cats. All of them are rescues. I'm going to see if there are any cafes like it in my area. I'm 10 minutes from the HUGE town of Orlando, they certainly have at least one. The 🐈 would 😻 a place like that.

Thank you, Crystal! I just made this for my cousin's cat. Worked up quickly. I used two strands of Bernat blanket together and it stands up nicely. Maybe not quite as sturdy as the jumbo yarn, but does its job. And I increased the bottom two more rounds for a total of 48 stitches. Thanks again!

Gosh, I'm thinking my mom, who has Parkinson's, might be able to do this, since it's so big. Tying the knot tight enough might be an issue, though.

Wow! What a bed for the kitty! A giant size wool / yarn equally a very big crochet hook! The hook almost looks like a fat pen. I liked the cat too as I love pets. I have a cat too , am very fond of her. I wish I could make it for my kitty too but I won't be able to find such a yarn and a crochet hook in our city.

Hi Crystal! Love your cat bed, and your cat, Rob! I'm home sick, and I had a skein of Bernat blanket extra thick yarn on hand, as well as a 30 mm hook! I did find I had to modify the base of the pattern, I think this yarn is too dense, it kept bowing up! Here's what worked:
Rnd 1, stacked single crochet into the ring, place stitch marker, 11 hdc into ring (12 st total). Round 2, stacked single crochet into the first stich of the last round, move the stitch marker to that stich now. 1 hdc into the same stitch, 2 hdc into each stitch around. (24 stitches total). Rnd 3, stacked single crochet into the top of the 1st stitch of the last round, move the stitch marker. 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next st. *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next st* around. (36 stitches total)
Mine measured 16" at that point, so I just followed your tutorial for the sides!
Hope this helps someone else save a couple of hours, lol!

I did it! It turned out very nice! My yarn was a little less study (though a 7 in size), but it held up pretty well in the end. Used Hobby Lobby’s Eternal Bliss! 😊

My room mate is a crazy cat lady. They are always laying in boxes so I'm going to make one of these a month cause the yarn is kind of pricey. And well have these cat beds all over the place. This really turned out nicely! I have made rugs and baskets pretty much the same way, only using 8 strands of yarn together. The color combos are endless! Happy 2020 everyone!
