I bought my 4th car there, it was a Ford Ranger. I test drove it and didn't seem to have issues. It ran well, interior was immaculate and no fault lights The report didn't mention the issues that developed a few weeks after delivery. Every day I drove it, they seem to get worse. I've had to fix those issues myself. So, if you are tempted by a green sticker car, make sure you thoroughly check it out.
I have bought 4 cars from them in which 3 of them were green dekra stickered, never had any major issues as I went and checked the vehicles before buying them so I knew exactly what I was buying and I'm still daily driving one of the cars 3 years later with no issues, all I'm saying is if you know nothing about cars and have no mechanical knowledge stay far away from gold and green. Otherwise you can really get a good deal if you know what you are doing at Webuycars. Also don't listen to the sales guys there they don't know the cars and only want to sell them.
Yo have the luxury of knowing what to look for in a used car.. many of us don't. Also we buy cars reneges on the CPA of 6-month warranty by making it a auction sale so you get no CPA warranty and have to buy warranty from WBC
@paulf1157 I agree with you, WBC is basically a company that found a loophole for selling cars "as is" or "voetstoots" that's also why their cars are so cheap. But still they do have allot of cars that are gems.
I bought a Ford Ranger Wildtrak from WBC. The turbo went within 3 months. Even taking that into consideration we got a great deal. Still driving it 3 and a half years later. No problems. I will buy my next car there too.
I used to work at that exact branch, the Brackenfell branch. To us, youre just a number and we DO not care what problems you have after we sold you the car. Not because we were evil salesmen, but the management and higher ups only care about how much you sell. They honestly couldn't care less if you have problems. All this being said, i would still buy a car there, as there are some good deals to be had. The other dealerships would come here early in the morning with a list and buy a few cars, drive it to their floor and put up 20-30k. Youre getting the same car there for more money.
WeBuyCars is a special trader, it also needs a special buyer. They do their best to upload reports on condition of the cars which traditional dealers don't do. Everyone has a phone or laptop and data these days, do your research and you will get a car for anyone. I can even buy a car without a gear box and engine if the price is right
It is like this at all used car dealers. 90% don't even provide a Dekra report. Make sure that you read and understand the report. If you have no knowledge of cars, ensure to be accompanied by a knowledgeable person and don't buy with your heart. The green Dekra vehicles are sold at reduced prices as to enable you to get them in a roadworthy condition. Do your calculations carefully.
WBC does not disclose everything about the car. Recently they sold a Swift Sport where they KNEW the engine and gearbox had dropped by 50mm and this was not disclosed. Actually had to cancel 3 sales because of this. Many dealers are complaining that even Platinum Dekra reports are not disclosing all.
I noticed inconsistencies with what dekra reported and what the sticker is on the car this past week. I wanna drop a video about it tomorrow. Im not sure why dekra would say gold but when you get to the showroom its platinum.
Because they cook the reports somehow. Take many of their reports, and get the vehicle retested by another Dekra privately, you will find A BIG DIFFERENCE IN REPORTS. I have first hand experience in this!!
Bought a lemon from them in 2022. Hyundai Matrix; very nice body, but could'nt even drive to my house upon delivery because the head casket was blown. Never got compensated for the repairs.
You just got to know a bit about cars, and the fact that buying a second hand car is not buying a brand new car expect risk and be willing to spend on that risk.
A friend bought a Toyota Double Cab from them with 189000km on the clock, when he went to service at Toyota he was told it was last serviced at 350000km
Bought two vehicles from We Buy Cars after proper inspection both green coded, driving both for almost three years now and no issues. I think the problem is the buyer and not the seller as people don't know cars so they end up buying without proper inspection. The average buyer is not up to date with the mechanical side of vehicles and end up buying a vehicle without proper knowledge of such vehicles. I am currently planning buying my third vehicle from "We Buy Cars" .
We buy cars doesn’t disclose the R2000 or so that will be charged above the listed price they claimed to be documentation fee. They should have included that on the original listed price, but they will surprise you after you think you have done all the payments. Customers should be made aware of that.
Thank u soo much, soo informative esp about the Dekra certificates. I want to buy my second car from we buy cars ranging between 70k to 80k at least the platnum or gold range, will I get one for that amount?
I think they don't pay you the trade in value as per your insurance value they use issues like gear lever leather that has cracks to reduce their offer which is tediculas as the leather cost alot less but they immediately reduced the amount they going to pay you by upto 200 percent
Not all cars ar webuycara are bad i bought a polo vivo trendline with 98686km on the clock till now with 203484km with zero issues and i came from namibia to Sa
Since moveables are sold 'on auction' basis, thus floating the Consumer Protection Act after a transaction is concluded, as opposed to independent dealerships whom have to take responsibility of reasonable breakages for a period of six months; why pay R5- R10K less at WBC than independant dealers for extra peace of mind (at least for six months)? Asking for a friend
It's the "awe inspiring" experience of seeing so many cars under one roof and the hustle and bustle of other people all around you looking giving an impression of "for the next ten minutes only we offer......" They used to first park the cars that were just bought above the ground floor up a ramp- these were first offered to the dealers via an online auction and thereafter brought down for sale to the general public if not bought by the dealers. This is why I could not find the most popular sought after second hand cars on the floor with fair mileage.
For me it's a yes to buy a car from we buy cars as long as you have an insightful knowledge of cars and their issues the most important is to understand the coding of stickers and their issues but it's a definite yes for me.
Hi Phelo. Great content. I recently saw a beautiful 2018 Toyota Hilux double cab for R400k and has a platinum dekra sticker. Now my issues are the following: 1. Windscreen has a crack 2. The sales team has on top of the showcased price of the car + an admin fee of R3800+ R2200 registration and Licensing. Is this legal?
Hi, i do know there are some additional fees that they have after buying a car, much like other dealerships. Just make sure what they add as additional fees is valid. You can check their website here for more details: www.webuycars.co.za/terms-of-sale There is an additional fees section that will tell you additional charges, whether or not they apply to you and how much they will be
I have always wondered if they charge VAT, if you don’t mind me asking did you only pay R405k (cost of car and the mentioned additional charges) only or was there VAT that you had to pay. As far as I am aware of, places like SMD/GoBid you pay VAT
I think cover the way to fight them…at first if used to look lie they are untouchable but came across 3 cases where people had to take them to court and won
I bought a car today platinum sticker but after driving for about 2hours the faulty engine light turned on😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭I didn't even include warranty coz tgey said warranty is at a price
The reality is that when you buy the car from wbc you sign a heap of forms relenquishing away all responsibility on their part for the vehicle after the sale, so the dekra report could be completely false and you have no leg to stand on. It's worthless. That said, like any second hand vehicle purchase the more you know about the vehicle the better for you.
I don't see a problem as long as you pay the right price. . so better know what you're buying. They gave me an excellent price on my bakkie which was in very good condition just high mileage but had put in new shocks replaced turbo and intercooler recently to upgrade for my own pleasure but ran into financial issues during COVID lie
