The Moment Jordan Peterson CONVERTED Russell Brand To Christianity

  • Have you noticed that more and more prominent influential people like Joe Rogan, Andrew Huberman, and Russell Brand are talking more and more about God and Christianity? There is something at work, I think Jordan Peterson has a lot to do with it, and it's because of conversations like this with Russell Brand...
Brand himself in the title of this video said, "This conversation changed my mind" and he has since put out that he getting baptized and becoming Christian. The clip I'm about to show you is the part of their conversation where Peterson shreds the modern atheist argument to and convinces Russell Brand that there is no more reliable truth than the deepest Christian belief...
Here's the video, watch the whole thing, it's all important, then I'll finish with why this is so important for Christianity...

I love explaining to people that JP’s biblical lectures are the method by which he himself became a Christian. His lectures were originally intended to be described only through a psychological lens but the practice itself of giving the lectures actually developed within him the vision of the eternal truths of God and his eyes were finally opened.

Lucian Smith was the original inventor in 1867 holding patent rights for it. Barbed wire, that is. That barbed wire that never existed in Christ's time. You had a real miracle! No. Wait. It was a a plaited crown of thorns! Matthew 27:27 - 30 27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers. 28 And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. 29. And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews! Sorry Audrey, Norma, or whoever you are. Doesn't everyone need Christ? Doesn't everyone have hard times. in life? What about death? Most everyone sees death of loved ones before dying themselves. Jesus wants a relationship with you. I recommend you to follow what Peter told in Acts 2,38 and 39: “And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”„

Suffering is the key ...It wasn't until I reached a terrible place of suffering that caused me to cry out to Jesus like I never have before ....I have been in such a selfish dry place spiritually and have awakened to it. I am so shameful of my walk, I'm so sorry to my Lord . I've allowed the internet to become my god, I give more time to my phone than I do Jesus and it makes me sick!!
I NEED JESUS , I NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT BUT , Most of all , I need to share Christ with others.
I pray for boldness and hunger for His word, I pray that the Holy Spirit will fall on humanity and wake up this world .
The end days are here , I can feel it in the depths of my soul.
This spiritual war we are in is only going to increase.
I'm very thankful for Russell Brand and pray that Jeus will do a work in him that makes him unwavering in Christ.

Since then, i've changed my mind that there is something out there. I dont align with Christianity anymore for reasons I wont get into (mostly historical reasons) but a believer in a higher power, whatever that may be. There is something beyond this life, and when you actually survey nature and really look at humanity over its existence, its magnificent how it all fits together in a grand design. How everything has its seasons, the cycle of life and death, that no thing is eternal. And scientifically, if matter cannot be created nor destroyed, where does it go? When you study philosophy and ancient traditions (that pre-date christianity), you understand that there are profound reasons to celebrate a creator(s), and to think that you are here for no reason, for no purpose, is a sad and lonely life. I will never hold it against an atheist for what they believe, or a Christian for what they believe. We're all free to determine what gives our meaning purpose. But mine is a belief in God and the divine geometry of the universe is by no accident.

Here's the second entry on the definition of meme: an element of a culture or system of behavior passed from one individual to another by imitation or other nongenetic means. Although the term itself was coined by Richard Dawkins in the 1970s it's obviously something thats been a part of human culture forever. There's an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, "Darmok", where Picard has to learn how to talk to a Tamarian, of which he can understand the words themselves, he just doesn't understand the references and allegory they use to convey meaning because he isn't familiar with the culture and zeitgeist of the civilization. I seen it and thought, oh they just talk in memes basically, because in a very similar way unless you know a meme's context they can mean next to nothing. Imagine sending our memes back 2000 years, they would seem like random images, but to us they can unfold in our minds almost like a book with layers of meaning and ideas packed into a simple picture and line of text. I think of meme's as basically like little corporeal fragments of psychedelic information we get to consume and enjoy in regular reality. Interesting stuff to ponder for sure.

If Jordan and you think imitating Christ is Christianity you are wrong. What you describe is actually part of the sanctification process occurring AFTER you have already been saved by grace. You are saved only by believing in His substitutionary righteousness on your behalf. Christianity is unlike ANY other religion in as much as you do not 'work' to achieve merit or holiness - it is imputed to you outside of yourself because of your faith in a holy savior. See 2Cor 5:21. After salvation you naturally walk in imitation of Christ because you aspire to be like Him and please and obey him and just because it is the true path of life.

Ultimately we are told in the Bible to sort through our own salvation with fear and trembling, so when Christians are constantly accusing people of not being Christian enough, or the wrong denomination of Christian, they have missed the point. That is not the case. It’s a manner of conducting yourself, directing your attention and acting. The fundamental issue is the actual pattern of ACTION. That’s why the highest level of religious devotion is the imitation of Christ, the attempt to act out the archetype in the confines of your life. BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!

Peterson reads the Bible in a way that's similar to how the Patristics and Scholastic theologians read the Bible. Peterson's aware there's a "literal" meaning of the text. But every story in the Biblical text also has a three-layered spiritual meaning: moral (tropological), anagogical (or mystical/spiritual meaning of the text in relation to man's final end), and allegorical (think typology here in a way similar to what Augustine means when he said "the New lies hidden in the Old and the Old is unveiled in the New." I'm curious, what do you mean by "literal" because no Christian takes the Bible with extreme literalism comprehensively across the entire text. At face value, even the text lends itself to this multi-layered hermeneutic. For example, when Christ says "...if you right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out..." Obviously he's not encouraging everyone to literally cut out their eye, but rather root out those things in our lives that lead to sin.

You then carry that point on to say that we should follow Christ and imitate him. These are actions to take, which even an unbeliever can do. I've been reading Jordan Peterson's 12 Rues For Life, and the way he interprets God, the Bible and correlates it with human psychology and upbringing has opened up my eyes to a new way to look at Christianity and religious study.
I grew up Catholic, in an American-Hispanic community, living under separate one parent households and under the California education system. I was devout until high school, and I lost my touch with God, influenced by socialist and racial ideology.
Then I joined the US military at 18 years old as an agnostic, and only slightly suicidal, with a contract to join the Infantry field. I became nihilistic, politically disturbed, and an angry young Marine, and the attitude that comes with those attributes gets encouraged and inflamed when you're in the infantry. Eventually and by the grace of God, I became an Non Commissioned Officer (and a good one according to others) and as I did my best to shape myself to the USMCs ideology of being an NCO, I had attained a newfound confidence that I didn't know at the time would stick with me to the day I type this comment.
When I got out of the military and joined the real world, I struggled for almost a year and a half readapting to civilian society. I observed the world as a young man with hope for humanity. I had faith that the average person was of moral sanity, that the general consensus of society was that you had to work for your paycheck, that the average leader understood it was their goal to lead their people to prosperity.
I became subject to the immoral greed of the state, the uninteractive culture between employee and employer, the socialistic anger of my generation of people in my community, and the shitty work ethic of the average person. Working with the average civilian was nothing like working with my Marines. You are what you eat and you become what you surround yourself with. So I found myself becoming them, and I didn't like it...
I take pride in my service to this country as a Marine, and I take pride in my American immigrant farmworker heritage, and even though I wrestled with God for a while, my Catholic upbringing paved the way for my strong sense of moral direction. I am now more than ever thankful that I was brought up with Jesus in my life, and I know that if it wasnt for the church I would have ended up eating children, raping woman or killing men of my own kind. At 26 years old, I find myself lost in this corrupt world, but not misguided, and thats thanks to God.
An atheist who grows up with God in their youth is still a member of Christian society, and likely shares a lot in common with their faithful counterparts.
An atheist who never heard of God or was never taught the teachings of Christ as a child, is likely unaware of the difference between good and evil.

Godels incompleteness theorem uses logic to destroy logic. By using the "This statement is a lie" paradox, he takes it further, blows a hole in mathematics and proves that FAITH (yes FAITH) is more fundamental than mathematics. I.E logic requires faith, but faith does not require logic. A very very intriguing read. Here is Roger Penrose explaining it in 3 minutes: m.th-cam.com/video/w11mI67R95I/w-d-xo.html

    • @JayM928
      @JayM928 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Simplicity is preferred, but that doesn't work for everyone. Obviously. A better way of looking at this, I think, is a positive story here of people that cannot simply believe as you ostensibly do being able to find a path to belief as well. That is, it's a good thing.
As a side note, speaking of keeping things simple, telling non-believers to repent is pointless. Only believers (or the over-educated that dismiss such things anyway) typically know what "repent" means. Heck, before I started learning about Christianity as a teenager, I thought people that shouted "repent!" were telling me to "grovel" before the Lord. And honestly, even though I know better now, it still sounds like that's what people mean by the way they say it.
I believe it would be more helpful if you say what it means rather than using the word itself. It's like church jargon--chances are if someone knows what it means, they likely don't need to be told to do so.

A sinner gets saved through the gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified for our sins and risen from the dead for the justification of all who believe in Him. The sinner must come to Christ, in confession and repentance from sin ask Christ for forgiveness and receive Him as your Lord and Savior and then fallow Him for the rest of your life.
