In 2003 i was an OTR driver and had an experience in Jersey I'll never forget. I exited I-80 in some town while looking for my customer. About a mile into town (at 1am), i come to an intersection that has low bridge signs on all 4 corners. I got myself trapped. A tow truck driver had seen me driving through town and decided to follow me. At the intersection I'm stopped with my thumb up my butt as he walked up to my door. He asked where i was going and if he could help. I told him the name of my shipper, and, miraculously he knew exactly where it was, 15 miles away. I got off at an exit with an identical street name to my customer location, just far too early. Not only did he tell me how to get there, he blocked the intersection so i could pull up, turn, back up, then turn back the way I came. Then he led me the whole 15 miles to my customer! I was 23 years old and I still remember that guy. There are good people out there.

Hi, I'm a truck driver and have gotten into similar situations especially early on in my career.
One such as this in NY and a very well dressed gentleman in a very nice Lexus helped me find my way off of a parkway. There's not many like you and him out there. So I just wanted to let you know how great a thing you did for this poor guy. Thanks for being a good guy especially when most people would have just blown their horns and flipped him the bird...or video taped him hitting a low overpass for a TH-cam video.
Anyways, sorry for the long comment and stay cool bud!!
    Thanks 😊

The hardest part driving a tractor trailer on the cross Bronx is trying to get over to the major deegan. NO ONE let's you over, you literally have to just cut drivers off and force them to let you in.

      That one is pretty bad.
The really hard part is going from the major deegan southbound over to the 95 southbound across the GWB. Gotta cross two lanes of traffic to get to the upper level.

As a trucker, we really appreciate people like you. The problem with trucker apps is that someone (often locals) has to go into that program and manually imput the best route. Low Bridges aren't allways marked for example. It takes the kindness of others to get us to our destination while obeying traffic laws (and not getting into a situation where we need to do something stupid like back 1/4 mile down a one way road.

Lucky bastard meeting a guy like you! 👍 On the other hand, driving a semi myself, reading the road signs would help immensely! It's also not new that ALL Parkways in NY are prohibited for trucks! Many drivers rely so much on that new technology they have forgotten how to read signs and think! On a last note: I got lost in NYC years ago myself. Long before GPS devices. I have never set foot in that crap hole again and never will! 🤣

I am the guy when a trucker needs to change lanes, I will slow down (speed limit) and signal for them to cut in front of me. I will share your video on my FB page so more people will understand that the truck driver is not deliberately slowing traffic down. Some times, he just needs some help on where to go.

Although one time, I was trying to merge over on 95 to head to 78 and couldn’t because of heavy traffic at speed limit. Last second decision, I drove where it said “cars only” because I had no other choice. I thought something was going to happen and it was a smooth ride. This happened on the George Washington Bridge and I was shook but okay. Eventually I merged right back to where I need to be to head towards 78.
