@@ModernJewelryMakers i think any message that helps people empathize or realize that having extra weight on their or their pets body can do damage to their body/health and lessen their quality of life is helpful.
@@ModernJewelryMakers I was like that but with 5-7km walks and a change of diet I've lost 44pounds in 1,5 year, mostly last year. Gained it during depression but I'm not looking back, it wasn't too hard to ditch unhealthy habits in the end :)

Beagles don’t have an “ I’m full” setting. They will eat nonstop given the chance.
Them and labradors have a gene mutation that prevents them from feeling full! It was bred into them to increase food motivation for training

I had one and they crave food but we gave her food twice a day and she wasn’t that bad even though she got some weight on we did control it eventually. She loves spaghetti with meatballs sauce.
But I also had a golden and she didn’t eat while I was out for work (her bowl was full) and she was quite difficult or particular on food. She never got fat. She loved to take rides out with me. Good sensible dog.
But beagles are something else!
Exactly..i just found that out...doing research on beagles.
One time my beagle got into a half full Advil container, the vet said to let him eat and drink water to dilute it as much as possible. I don’t think we were exactly thinking he would eat 5 full bowls of kibble...
Those poor legs must have hurt so bad. Thankfully, this big baby found someone to give him a real life.

I dont understand why people let their dogs get to that point it is honestly sad and it shows how much you care about your animals :(
Sadly this is a big trend especially on Tik Tok
for some people it has been because they have an illness like alzheimers or dementia. they don’t remember how many times or even if they fed the dog, so they tend to overfeed their pets.
@@fjp9 That is very sad, but I feel that would be reason not to get a pet then.
@@fox7378 most of them already have the pets and then later develop the illness. most people don’t know for sure if they are going to get those illnesses or not. although some people are at higher risk than others for multiple reasons.

Sent this to my wife because we have a beagle. I've always told her that beagles can very easily go from skin and bones to ballooning.
Beagles look like they have elevator music playing in their head the whole time.
If this dog can do it then I can! COVID along with emotional eating has made me not so happy with myself so this summer I am going to be swimming almost everyday doing hard exercises to just to be healthy and happy! 🐶

It really makes me sad that there are so many overweight or even obese dogs like this but on the other hand it makes me feel very good that there are people like this who rescue them and make them healthy again! I have never even heard of a dog getting knee replacement surgery before but I am very glad this one turned out so well. I remember seeing a quote that said if your dog is overweight you aren't getting enough exercise so that helps explain the obesity epidemic in this country.

I grew up with a beagle and they are vacuums, but we kept ours in great shape with lots of exercise.. some friends also had a beagle, and that family knew where to place stuff on the kitchen counter so their dog couldn't reach it.. unfortunately ours was a bit bigger, so once when we were over for a visit and nobody was looking he managed to get a hold of a pound of butter and ate within seconds..

These dogs are so lucky to have found you . We all spoil our dogs with food even though it is not always good for them . Beagles love to eat and are probably never satisfied ,even though they are well fed. Just like people ,boredom leads to overeating .

Yes it's abuse because a dog cannot get obese on their own, it's all because of their owner. And obesity leads to a lesser lifestyle with lots of health complications, a choice dogs themselves cannot make. So yes, it is abuse because you're intentionally making a being suffer.

My great grandmother had problems with her memory. She had a cat that was very overweight. She never would remember if she fed him or not. Shes now living in one of those "old people's" homes and that cat is living with a different family member, so I hope he's doing better

The beagle seems to be the breed underestimated the most, it’s frustrating to see so often - they are hound dogs and need a lot.

I have a beagle and/or basset mix and he’s been the most food-obsessed dog I’ve ever had. He would even eat non-food things he found just to fill his belly, escape the yard to find food, break into the pantry etc. on top of that he started out as a starving stray. Luckily the most he was overweight was about 10%-12% and he’s a healthy weight now it if he had access to ice cream every day he probably would be in Jamie’s situation!
Pupper found the right people to help him be his best self - thank you mum and dad to the beagles - you are wonderful people!
They may not be specifically looking for overweight dogs, but the dogs are definitely looking for them. Keep up the good work, Erin & Chad!

As a Human Being who has been BLESSED with 7 Rescue Beagles I know this constant "battle of the bulge". They will eat all day long if allowed to. Fortunately we had a very large fenced in yard and most of our Beagle crew loved running and baying all day long. Thank You for what you are doing for these BLESSINGS.

I rescued my first beagle when she was one and my husband and I recently rescued a 10 year old beagle. There is something about beagles that just lifts me up. I simply can't live without one now. Thank you for rescuing a rehabilitating them!
There is a fine line between giving ur dogs treats and over feeding them and lucky to her u in their lives and being a dog again and having a new life that they can live again

These people are awesome! God love these dogs - I know those people didn't mean it this way, but, that is abuse - plain & simple. To make an animal become a prisoner in their own body...it's just so sad 😥💔 I'm so happy for those dogs that need help that find these wonderful, dedicated people! I have a dachshund mix who is 45 lbs and she has thyroid disease which so far we haven't found a medication that works so she just keeps gaining weight.
