Good Morning Kelly and Shawn, Happy Hump Day 😊 The Tech Talk in this video was very interesting. Safeway is usually on the ball for Prescriptions. I get my 7 for my Heart Autofilled, except last month I was in the hospital. I worked for them here in Canada for 35 years. I started when I was 15. I got sick and went on disability.

Thanks for such a great tech demo. Very interesting. I like to know what built up all that carbon. Is that because fuel is injected directly into the cylinder? I'm not sure where I saw this but there is a product that you can add every so many miles to keep the valves clean. I think it's called CCR or CRC valve cleaner. Don't know if it works there are so many products they sell. Can't wait until you tell us what BMW said.

It takes a special tool to change the air filter? Also do you know if there is anything proprietary as far as maintenance for this bike?thanks 🤔
There are no special tools required for air filter replacement. There are plenty of BMW Special Tools and Diagnostic Software used for different service and repair items, but there's always workarounds to hack your way through... Generally, folks that can afford a BMW can also afford to have them professionally maintained by certified technicians that have invested in the insane amount of training required. These are not user friendly bikes to maintain long term at BMW requirements..! The basic stuff is like any other high-end sport bike though.

It never dawned on me about the gas tank. I will now make sure that my fuel tank is NOT full when I take the bikes in for service. Anything that I can do to make the technicians life a little easier I will try to do. I was a service manager for cars many years ago, so I try to give the symptom when I have a problem and NOT try to diagnose the problem (i.e. "noise on acceleration", not "engine ping") since MY diagnosis will probably be wrong and I have sent the tech down the wrong rabbit hole.

Very interesting video, I got to hand it to you I would not want your job for nothing. I enjoy being a garage mechanic and I have actually bought all the parts and put together my own chopper. But that was basic compared to all the intricate details of modern motorcycles.😎👍🏻

Got to ask your opinion on this..you have said alot about aftermarket lighting on your spyder bus system can cause problems..I am confused if I should get the halo skid plate with plug in lights with turn signals..don't want to cause any malfunction but want to protect my under body and front nose. Please give me your opinions just asking. Thanks

I love the tech stuff in the videos. If that's the way Shawn does it that's what my Spyder gets lol I do most all my own service
It’ll be interesting to hear what caused that carbon build up. Did the guy not follow the BMW service schedule? Maybe he failed to have it serviced at a BMW service centre? Or perhaps he used non-OEM service items? Anyway, it was good to see that BMW’s special tool for releasing those reusable clamps is so well designed for the space available.
Ugghh, never fails when a place loses your info. An hour is a long time wait. It’ll be interesting to see what BMW says 😎😎
Thanks for the detailed explanation on the S1000R, my guess is you might be pulling the engine apart to clean the deposits off of the valves! I wonder what kind of fuel the owner is using? I hope Kelly’s bad experience with that pharmacy is just one time thing! See you tomorrow!👍
Awww crap....I put a "washable" filter in my bike a couple years back, never even thought it would be harmful. I guess it's not too late to go back to oem. But damage could already be done huh?
So what happened,what did BMW say and did you fix it??????
He needs to blast it over 9000 rpm get the secondary injectors to clean up the valves, run some top end cleaner through the tank. I think bmw have a puma on it. Pain in the ass.

Hi man, I have a s1000r 2018 with cooling problems, the issue is when it’s on idle without moving it hit 100º the an the fan entry but they don’t get off and the temperature stay on 99-100º the fan gets off an de temperature gets dow until I start riding and when I hit a red light again the same problem

This very thing and/or service items like this have ran me away from BMW. And if you think these motors are a nightmare go look at the same procedure on a K1600. It borders on brain surgery.
