    8ounce to 1 gallon is 16:1 ratio. My bicycle has half gallon tank . Which is probably common size.

    I was wondering do the engine used motor oil and the lower half of the motor

    • @jfi-y8o
      @jfi-y8o 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No... because when you mix oil with gasoline, they will not separate from each other. They're "miscible" (mixable).
      On the other hand, for example, you mix water with oil, the oil will settle at the bottom. They are not miscible.

    sigh this explains why I was having problems I put in almost a 60%/40% when it is supposed to be %90/10% was under the impression you used the bottle itself for mixed fuel so its 8 ounces for 1 gallon of fuel and there are 3.5 litres in one gallon. I tried to get a Metric bottle but you just can't get one.

    Does it need engine oil? Every how much time you have tou change it? Please answer

  • @Spanky8402
    @Spanky8402 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    How do you change the oil on a 2 stroke motor? My neighbor asked me that today. I had to share this cause I am still laughing about that question but it wasn't a dumb question cause he didn't know. I just showed him this video just now and told him that every tank is adding oil to the motor. I don't know how the oil works in a 2 stroke but I know it burns with the gas and it lubricates the engine as it is burning it. I know more about 4 stroke motors but I do mess with 2 stroke carbs and I have replaced the igniter, electric box that gives spark to the spark plug a few times. Normally the spark box don't go bad but my friend has a cheap Chinese ebike and I replaced it 3 times within the past 5 or so years. I started with a new plug but it barely sparked, so I ordered the spark box, which that's what the Ebay listing called it and he was good for 2 years. He doesn't have a drivers license and that's his transportation and I think my neighbor is in the same boat as my friend. The break in process that you said is what my neighbor is going to do right now. Thanks for sharing this video cause I was able to share this with him and the limited experience that I have with 2 stroke motors. I am thinking about doing a 4 stroke or ebike eventually but for the time being, I have a regular bike for exercise or for a 2nd form of transportation but eventually I want a fatbike with some kind of motor on it. I have a truck but gas prices and insurance are going up and I may go down to not having a vehicle. I used to have a motorcycle and I miss riding it but insurance was getting ridiculous but a motorized bike would probably give me that same joy, without having to pay insurance. I am sure that is why people are going this route but cops are getting harder with motorized bikes and it's almost as if they are on the insurance company's side. I think it's depends on how you ride the bike as well, if they see people not following the road laws and they are reckless driving, that's when they pull you over.

  • @CSJiGSaW08

    Question, my gas scooter calls for 25:1, i believe that would be the break in period. After I can go 32:1 or 40:1. Now if I switch to 32:1 or 40:1 do I have to manually adjust the carburetor idle and fuel mix screws? If I wanted to do a weeks test for each mix and check the plugs for fouling, and do comparisons on temperatures with different fuel mix, isn't it important to adjust the carburetor each time to the correct fuel mix after it warms up??

      it should be good for about a month , even longer in an airtight steel container as plastic containers still allow gas to evaporate and spoil especially mixed, definitely should mix just enough to fill the tank

    • @bikeberry
      @bikeberry  6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      for every 16 parts of gas you need 1 oil. So in the video he uses 1 gallon of gas. there are 128 Ounces in 1 gallon. Now divide 16 into 128. You then get 8. so you'd use 8 parts oil with 1 gallon of gas.

    • @texasfish9437

      BikeBerrycom so if I got a 10 gallon tank, two stroke, do I divide 1280 by 16 or 10?

      Good question I was just wondering the same thang thanks 👇👇👌

    • @TheCharbMusic
      @TheCharbMusic 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If u have 10 gallons, that means 10*128= 1280 Ounces gas. If you want a ratio of 16 gas to 1 oil, that means you wanna have 16 times less oil than gas, so 1280/16= 80 ounces of oil.
      Another way would be the following : we know that for 1 gallon gas, you need 8 ounces oil. So for 2 gallons gas, you'd need 16 ounces oil... 3 gallons gas, 24 ounces oil... etc.
      Hope this helps !

      Take a cough syrup measure and you 2 stroke oil, when you go to the Gas Station. I need to take a calculator as well. Ok, fill your tank. Read how much gasoline you paid for. In the US, that number will be in tenths of a gallon, if you are using a Motorized Bicycle tank. multiply that number by 128 [as per ounces] Divide that number by your ratio. That's how much 2 stroke oil you want to use, in ounces. Hope that makes sense to you.

    Nah when I got mine fist built. I was coming home from school and a saw my dad trying to start it out of the window and when I got off the bus he had started it and went full throttle (went prob 15 back then cus engine was still new) and never broke it in. But it still runs today and never had an issue. And every time I used it I always used 46:1. Which gave it some more speed. But I will always remember that.

    if i get it right you need to ride 20-30 minutes (especially at first runs ) ., how long you need to wait "on average " for motor to cool down and to engage it again ?(for first break in first gallon , and on regular basics)

      Michael Heaton You can use those mixes. We recommend mixing the fuel yourself so that you know what you're giving your motor and get a feel for how lean or rich you want to run your bike.

      mixing your own is better you know what you put in and when to adjust...these engine fuel ratios are not a 1 size fits all..varies by the enviroment you live in...and is your engine is tuned or not ...for me living in new england(eastcoast) with a mild tuned 2 stroke..#70 jet, 19:1...some may run more lean then me ..like any where from 3
      2:1 to 50:1 ...i recommend 16:1 for the first 3 gallon...from there 19:1 or 20:1 for the remainning life of the engine
      .

    So if I mix the oil with the gas, 1 Gallon of gas and I do 30:1, then once I mix 1 gallon, can I fill the rest up with gas or is it EVERY gallon you have to have oil? Like if I have a 5 gallon gas can, then I do 1 gallon mix oil, then do I just top off the gas can with gas and no more oil?

    • @obesehamsterfilms8078
      @obesehamsterfilms8078 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi,
      you've probably figured this out by now but you add in a certain amount of 2-stroke oil per gallon, for instance if you want a 32:1 gas/oil ratio you add 4 ounces of oil per gallon of gas, so if you want to mix 5 gallons with oil for a 32:1 ratio you would add 20 ounces of 2-stroke oil. I mix mine in 1 gallon batches though so I can experiment with different ratios.

      Only use 2 stroke oil that is designed for air cooled 2 stroke engine. Never use tcw3 2 stroke oil because it won't run right. Tcw3 is intended for out board use. Use Jaso FD certified air cooled 2 stroke oil, known as lawn equipment oil if you want you want to make your motor last longer and keeping them running at peak performance.

      @alexhickey5633 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@devonlamb1606 part of it has to do with the metals being very soft in the first few startups. The 30:1 mix doesnt allow wear to happen, just cure the metal. 30:1 all the time will choke up the engine with carbon. Which is why you go to 40:1 mixtures. 40:1 of the cheap stuff allows it to actually break in properly. Break in is a small amount of wear happening btw just so everything seats together nicely. As for the 40:1 full synthetic well thats to just keep it running for thousands of miles troublefree. I find 50:1 wears these out too fast cos at the end of the day its still cheap metals we're dealing with
