And can still outplay kids a fraction of his age. Let’s see how well you uphold your arrogance in to maturity which from the sounds of it is not anytime soon...

That’s actually one of his Sonor kits from the 80’s touring years. It’s only a small portion of the overall kit. REALLY amazing sounding drums and I’m very happy he’s back with Sonor. You are right though; he could make even a garbage drum kit sound amazing. Nicko is a genius.
Chris Messer actually the snare is from the 7son tour kit. The rest of the drums are Sonor performers Which were their mid level 80s kits. Made of Beachwood like the high-end ones just thinner Awesome kits, you can still find them on line pretty inexpensive. This was just a rehearsal kit....but sounds great.
NickosRightFoot: actually that makes sense in hindsight. The shells and rims on the toms and bass drum did seem different than the signature lites. You’re absolutely right still amazing sound. I use to have a SonorLite kit in the late 80’s through late 90’s. I miss that kit. I definitely agree sound at the of the day come from the player, but I’m sure you’d agree Sonor has an essence that seeps through beautifully. I was so happy to find out he’s back with Sonor. His recent kit he’s touring with sounds amazing in conjunction with the way he plays. He’s the best drummer in hard rock/rock in my opinion and at the same time I believe underrated. I think many kids don’t comprehend how skilled and musical he is. He’s a genius. I love how he applies different types of flams within his playing. I could go on for hours. He’s been a huge influence on playing far back as with Pat Travers. Thanks for the insight.
Such a funny, great guy. I grew up with his wife, Becky, here in southern WV, and consider him a friend. And, not to mention, he’s sat in with my band on several occasions when he’s in town over the years, since the late 80’s.
Met Nicko twice and he is the just the most normal down to earth rock superstar I've ever met and a really funny nice guy all round and one ofvthe greatest drummers of all time.....
He has a very little space in Live after death video and those few moments are always too short.. fortunately we can better see him in their later shows, they has given him more space in the editing of the videos

Particularly looked forward to all that gubbins immediately after the rain came tipping down. Good, hard and heavy - all punctuated by a solid storyline with timing/key changes therein. That's why I will forever love Maiden.

I don't know how he can hit the right tom without hitting that riding cymbal! Cymbal covering more than half the tom! Been a Maiden fan and a drummer for almost 40 years.
DUDE!! I have wondered that...like, FOREVER! I have been playing drums for 30 years and have had some similar set-ups to Nicko over the years. That said, I also like my ride in that position, but I DO NOT put it that close to the toms. That is INSANE how he never seems to get tripped up while moving around the kit. :) That's just Nicko, I guess! :D
I really wish this was on the legacy of the beast setlist. I’ll be seeing them in Nashville for the very first time. I hope it’s not their final US tour. I HAVE to see them play this song live with the current lineup. Hopefully the rumors of a Maiden/Priest tour come true and I will see them on it too.

in late 80s I drummed in a Death Metal band and sang with the songs to keep crazy time changes solid when playing live. Also, some small clubs had bad PA systems and I couldn't hear the guitars, so I sang them.
If you know the songs 100% no need to,just comes naturally...same with guitar...I probably couldnt just do solo to say for instance, icarus off the bat ,but when playing with band or along to the song it comes back ...nico plays all the drum stuff in his sleep.....
Nico is like a surgeon. A master of his craft. Clinical and precise. Anyone comparing him to Clive Burr should consider Nico a surgeon and Clive an artist. 2 different skill sets but both are (were) top of their game.

This is the only "concert" I've seen where Nicko was visible behind his kit. One half of the best rhythm section in metal.
