- Let's be honest, I wanted to drive a nice car for a little bit (there's a lot of hoopties in the fleet). I called my friends at Walser BMW here in Wichita and asked if could borrow the 2020 BMW 750i XDrive for a day. They said yes so I headed straight over to pick it up and pick up the R8 parts that just showed up. Then I spent a good amount of time in the 750i and it is hands down one of the greatest luxury cars in the game. The technology is useable, the features will blow your mind, and driving it is sublime. My $1,900 2003 745Li looks like a relic compared to the 2020.

As much as I love the E39, the E65/66 is probably my favorite looking BMW of all time. I know everyone hates them, but there's something about it.
That's why i own my 2007 Facelift E65 730D it is my favorite bmw model too ;)). If you want an E65/E66 don't buy the V8 because they leak a lot of oil... Buy the 730D inline six instead because the M57 Diesels are tanks ;)).
The deprecation on that new 7 series after the warranty runs out will be unsurpassed

I'd never buy a new BMW. I'd lease one for a couple years, but never own a new one lol. These cars just fall apart over time due to the cost of keeping them maintained. Great looking car though.

Odd the 745il does not have the privacy screens, back in '94 my 740il had them... it's what sold me on the car... I felt like James Bond hitting the button from the drivers seat and having the screens go up in the rear... loved that car!

Most ppl who buy these cars either lease or pay cash anyways. A couple years back I was buying parts at a Mercedes dealer. This older gentleman just pointed at a white Mercedes S550 and said that he wanted to take it home today. It was a showroom display car but still easily a 6 figure car. Just a few mins later the car was taken off the showroom with a sold sign.

I had a 745 in the past . One day the dash turned into a Christmas tree and after a trip for service i sold that thing as fast as I could
very smart move. 7 series always shrinks value faster than any other car (maybe s500/s600 can compete? LOL)
JL Penn the s430 and 500 on the Mercedes side of you take care of it its alot better than the bmws
The Toyota Camry is much more reliable and it has cheaper maintenance costs.

BMW engineers have changed things for reliability since 2012. You’ll notice every BMW after 2012 doesn’t have the same issues and yes BMWs of this era have reached 100k miles without problems.

I miss my 89 750il 5.L v12 only issues I had with it was a small leak in the power steering and a wiper relay. There is also a website that you can use for the drawings.
My fully optioned 2008 750Li has almost all the same options as the new one. These well optioned E65/66 are some really nice vehicles.

That old 745 Li DOES have soft close doors, you can move the front seats from the back, rear seats do recline, power rear shades, rear iDrive - your car is just poorly optioned.
Beautiful features for the car I just wish they put all the technology into the reliability of their cars.

I've ridden in a 440i with the twin turbo 3.0 V6 and it was a beast. BMW definitely has their crap together with power and sophistication.

You should drive the 745iL across the country with a full set of tools, diagnostics and a good jack. I'll offer to follow you in my 06 LS430 and film the whole ordeal.
The biggest problem with a BMW with these features is when they will surely break when the warranty expires. The average Joe can't afford the repair costs and that's why re-sale value drops drastically after 5 years.
I am a little disappointed the EJECT button Gabe was playing with didnt eject the driver immediately!

One of my mom’s friends had a 2008-09 BMW 745Li until it was traded in for a 2013 Chevy Impala and that person moved to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
Who would’ve thought that a 20 year old car would not be good as good as the new one. Total SHOCKER, and also guys not just here did you know that the new iphone is also better than the one from 2007,i know right so weird 🤯🤯
All those awesome features turn into quirks in 20ish years. I'm well aware due to owning old Diesel Mercedes, Quirks are what keeps me driving down the road!

You should have gotten an E23. The early 80s 745i with the turbocharged 3.5 straight six. It's a dog off the line, but get to highway speeds and it's glorious.

The old 745 original bangle butt is my favorite car that I’ll never buy. Back when those came out I was buying Lexus and it was the best choice, however when I see the oldschool 745, I do still turn my head.
