This looks likes the most amazing adventure! We love vlogging our hikes but have never done a multi-day hike, let alone one as huge as the PCT. Must take a lot out of you, walking for so long. I hope we get to do something similar one day, thanks for the inspiration 🙌

Great to see your videos. You have kept us in suspense about the trail name for a long time! I've read that some of the trail angels are closing down. I hope that others take their places because the welcome, facilities and the fun thru hikers have there really adds to the trail culture. Thanks Mari and welcome back to NZ.
Yeah, I think this is the last year that Casa de Luna will be open to hikers and next year will be Hiker Heaven’s last. You’re right, hopefully others will take the lead!

Hiker Heaven is closed now. The Saufley’s house is up for sale and they are moving to Washington State. But Aqua Dulce is so Hiker friendly, perhaps another family will pick up the torch.
Hard to say. With the explosion in the numbers of people trying to hike these long trails, there are a lot more bad apples as well. They make it tough on the trail angels, which makes it tougher on the real hikers who appreciate the help and those who give it.

Nice to you another video. So strange to see you still in the desert. All the other hikers I am following have finished their hikes. It’s so confusing sometimes watching these videos because of the delays. Mary or tinker bell is still showing her videos even though she finished early on.
Super sad they are retiring....Hope there are cool things like this if I ever get to do the trail
Wooohoo :) A new video! I had a similar experience with my thermarest pad, whenever I blow it up in the late afternoon when it’s still warm out, as the night rolls in the temperature drops and air pressure changes, it’s as if the cold air inside the mattress condenses, I’m sure there are more scientific terms haha. If I use a bag pump and blow the mattress after the colder air settles I don’t have that problem. 🤷🏼♀️😂
Yeah REI told me it was a common problem. Annoying when it’s your bed every night though!

I had no problems with my Thermarest, but I could not tolerate the noise it made in the morning as it deflated. I love just using the foam pad and it’s much more comfortable, although slightly bulkier.

Got to admit that I was pretty disappointed when you stopped uploading. But now that all the other PCT videos are finished, this is a great fix to last until the 2020 season begins. :)

Cars fly down that road to Casa De Luna. Hiker Heaven AND Casa de Luna are closing next year because they are selling and moving away. UNLESS someone steps in and buys them that wants to keep it going. Taco Sal LOL. It's a good one for now. You can always change it later. I started with one and ended with another.

You've probably figured this out, but air temperature impacts air pressure in inflated objects (same thing happens to car tires, which is why it is dangerous to inflate them beyond the recommendations. On hot days the air expands and can cause them to burst). So, your pad probably didn't have any holes and was just losing some of its pressure on those colder nights.
Nacho Mama would have been a good one too. :)

Hey! There she is! So sad that both Hiker Heaven and Casa de Luna are closing after 20 years of offering incredible kindness and generosity to PCT hikers.
PS: even seeing a big cat in California is a rare privilege - they blend in perfectly with the vegetation - but they know you are there, and they are watching you. The good news: You Do Not Look Like Lunch! All of those clothes, the big equipment, the clacking trek pokes, slow moving .... nah! Pass. Trail runners - now that’s different - skinny, scantily clad, lots of skin showing and best of all - it moves fast!!! Lunch AND entertainment! I’m in! You’ll see a lot of prints, but you really don’t float their boat.

Donna and Jeff (Hiker Heaven) have put their house up for sale and are moving to Washington State. The folks at Casa de Luna have some health issues and just can’t do it any more.
That's such a shame... but understandable. It's incredible what they have done for hikers throughout the years though!

First: Congrats to your completion of the PCT. Just in time in 2019.... Can you give info on how you handle your contacts since the hand cleanliness and water is not always a given on the trail? How do you clean the storage case? I have disposable contacts (change about 4 weeks)and clean them every day, which requires cleaning solution (one bottle is 12oz.) I also use Saline which is another 12oz. A lot of weight. What/how much solutions do you carry?

Where all the campgrounds you stayed at while on trail US Forest Services sites? Did you get an America The Beautiful Pass and if so was it worth the $80 for the 50% savings at these sites? Like were most of the sites along the PCT US Forest Services camp sites?

I've always wanted to do long overnight hikes but I'm pretty sketchy about pooping in the woods. I know this subject doesn't come up too often but it's a reality when you do long hikes. For those of you who are experienced hikers, what are the logistics when you're hiking and you need to poop?
Kevin P oh god don’t be like that girl I knew who would hold it for 3 days. Better to be like my son who loved it so much we dug 6 holes on his first wilderness trip (he was about 6). Logistics? 1) empty bladder 2) dig hole (or prepare bag), 3) poop in hole or bag. It’s not so bad.
@@rivernet62 Hahaha...thanks for the tips! Fortunately, I have a slow metabolism so I go about every 2 days (TMI). Maybe I should practice in my backyard before I actually attempt it in the woods. Lol
I was honestly nervous for this beforehand, but it really wasn’t that bad! You get used to it pretty quickly 🙂
Just don't wait too long. It's best to allow enough time to dig the hole before making the deposit. The act itself is quicker for me in the woods.
