Just got myself an AC recharge from Autozone today from my 2016 Honda Civic. Uses the 1234y. Worth every penny. It’s colder than when I bought it! Super easy to use and there’s left over refrigerant.
I got mine at Advanced Auto Parts. I just downloaded the app and followed the instructions. My 2010 Honda Fit Sport air conditioner is still chugging away… until yesterday when it was 90+ degrees and my A/C was blowing not so much cool air. The reading was at a 12. I only went up to 33 psi. I was in the green “safe”zone. I felt very cold air coming from the vents. That was enough for me. And like you, I still have some refrigerant left. I got the Pro Extreme.
I over filled my 2003 Duango. The A/C stopped working good thing in head a leak. The next day the A/C began to work and had completely sealed the leak. Thanks A/C Pro for making an excellent product. 👍
Just finished watching the video and went RIGHT out and did it and I believe it has worked (i may have a leak so that's the reason for the uncertainty) it's blowing cold air now hopefully that'll last till i can have the mec check to see if there IS in fact a leak or if i just needed a recharge.
@@Acprocold thanks for you help / effort on our behalf. Its still blowing cold air, so I can actually worry less and save up for the actual repairs if needed. Thanks again!!
This worked great for me. Thanks for the detailed video. The first time I hooked up the gauge, my pressure was good, so I squeezed only a little bit in but it was enough to cool down the AC to freezing!
My AC Pro digital reading is sitting stable at 105 PSI even when not connected. Is this normal? It changes maybe 1-2 psi when connected. Anyone know if this is a faulty gauge?
I have followed the instructions a few times but when I connect the quick connect coupler to the low-pressure port it feels like it is not fully connecting and my reading stays at zero. I can see on the ACPRO quick connection piece that is connecting and the slip ring goes down. I can also see evidence of metal-to-metal contact on the inside of the coupler. Any ideas why it is reading zero and I cant hear the product moving ?
Couple of ideas - does your vehicle use 134a or 1234yf? The fittings aren't compatible so you might be trying to fit a 134a product onto a yf vehicle or vice versa. You won't necessarily be able to hear the product moving especially with the engine on, but the can will get cold when it's flowing and you will feel it getting lighter.
If the psi is 26, should we proceed to add? AC blows warm in temps above 80 85 degrees. Not that it ever really blows extremely cold air. It will blow some cooler air at times.
Can the gauge be connected to both low and high sides for pressure reading? I know only fill through the low. But i would like to get a high side reading too.
No, the coupler on the product only fits the low side port. The high side port has different specs by SAE standard. Also the low and high side ports on 1234yf (new environmentally-firendly refrigerant) systems also have different specs compared to 134a.
@@Acprocold kind of pointless to go trying to fill an a/c without a high side reading. What if this can shows a low side low reading. But the high side is crazy high. Could potentially be dangerous for both the car and person. I guess that's why you recommend safety glasses huh. 😆🤣🤣
I have the same digital gauge used in this video but I believe it is defective now a summer later. I just attached on a 12oz white can of Ac pro refrigerant and filled the system and now it’s blowing cold. But now that I want to remove this can to attach it onto another gauge I just got will removing the can that’s still full cause all the gas to leak out ? Do these cans have self sealing tops if I unscrew it ?
Question. why is it necessary for the fans to be on high when recharging the AC system just would like to know for knowledge and understanding thanks a bunch
Sorry we missed you. The A/C Pro digital gauge requires a 2032 coin battery. If you hold the gauge upright with the screen facing you, the battery compartment is just under the bottom edge in between the screen and where the gauge screws onto the can. It will have a couple of tabs that just need to be pinched together and then you can pull it out. Just replace the battery with the positive side facing down. The positive side of the battery will have a + mark typically. Replace the battery compartment and you're good to go.
I just did this today. I have a 2003 BMW 540. The air coming out is not that cold. When I first check the reading, it was saying 30 psi. I decided to recharge it but after about 10 minutes of on and off pressing the trigger and checking the psi level, the highest it got to was 37 psi. Is that enough? How can I tell if the can is empty?
When I took the first pressure reading it told me 0 psi, so I went through the instructions to charge my a/c. After 15 seconds of charge the pressure read 115 psi! The compressor was on, so this isn’t an instance where the high reading was because it was off. I turned off the a/c on the car and saw the compressor go off, so I’m sure it’s not that. After about ten minutes of doing research to see what I had done, I went back to check the pressure and it was at 70 psi. What could be going on here? Why the very high pressure with it gradually coming down?
Can you help me please? I got the 18oz. Avalanche Premium Recharge Kit with the digital gauge and vent clips. (I'm on a fixed income and can't afford to buy everything separately.) Initially, it read around 6 (very low obviously). Now, I'm only getting a reading of 0 then the gauge turns off after 5 seconds, even if I'm filling. I know the connection is secure since it's locked in and I'm also putting pressure on it to be sure it doesn't come off. When I put the plastic thing back into the side of the gauge and remove it, the gauge turns back on, still reading 0, then turns off again! If it's totally drained, is it ok to keep holding the trigger down for a whole minute (rotating the can side to side), then putting the plastic back in and out to see if it's reading more at all, or does that risk overfilling it? Do these digital gauges automatically turn of if the reading is 0? Thank you😺
That's too bad you had an issue using the Avalanche gauge, but they are a separate company so we can't speak for them. If you buy A/C Pro next time we'd love to help you use our digital gauge that actually works.
Can you please tell what’s the right size of Coupler attachment gauge & hose with the Lower Port for Honda CR-V 2018 LX AWD? Do i only need R1234yf Guage & hose? Or do i need other attachments to attach it with the refrigerant? I will really appreciate your help. Thanks
This vehicle uses a refrigerant called R-1234yf. Take a look at this video for details. th-cam.com/video/CsrtqKdmlOo/w-d-xo.html The recharge process is basically the same as with a 134a vehicle, however the ports are different so the products can't be used interchangeably. You can buy our R-1234yf A/C Pro kit at AutoZone, Advance, or O'Reilly.
If the PSI on the gauge reads 130 when the compressor is connected (and engine is on with A/C on max), you may have an issue beyond low refrigerant that needs to be addressed by a professional mechanic.
Check to see if your AC compressor is turning on when you switch on your AC. You should hear a click or notice your car bog down if it's working. If it's not turning on check if your AC fuse or relay is good. This happened with my wife's 2011 Malibu yesterday. The issue was the fuse.
The A/C Pro Extreme product has an advanced formula with a more robust PAG oil formulation that's designed for higher use. So if you drive a lot or use your A/C a lot this has a better formulation to protect against those tougher conditions. This more robust formulation is also designed to work with hybrid and electric vehicles, which most other products are not.
@@Acprocold Thanks. I took my vehicle into a mechanic to have the cooling fans replaced and they apparently disturbed one of the refrigerant lines and now I have a leak. I already tried the regular AC Pro ( black can ) but even though its a small leak the stop leak didn't actually stop it. Does the extreme pro (gold label) use the same stop leak or is that also a thicker formula? I already spent $50 on one can of this stuff and the extreme is selling for $60 so I wanted ask a few questions before spending another $60. Funds are tight at the moment and the auto mechanic is not accepting responsibility as I figured. Thanks again.
We currently have two digital gauges on our A/C Pro charging kits - a smaller one that just shows a pressure readout (found only at AutoZone) and the larger one shown in this video, which is found on A/C Pro Extreme. It has commands tied to the pressure readout (found at AutoZone, Advance, and O'Reilly's) so it's a better version.
I have a few questions. Can you replace the battery in the digital gauge? How is the ambient air temperature outside going to affect the psi from the low port of the AC system. For example the analog gauge you can turn the needle on the gauge for the outside temperature.
Yes, you can replace the battery on the gauge. There is a battery slot underneath the gauge face where you can remove/replace the battery. It uses a 2032 coin battery. It does not read ambient temperature. Our analog gauges also no longer have a dial to adjust for outside ambient temperature.
Depends on some variables like the ambient air temperature and system design, on a warm day with the engine and A/C off the temp will be high on the low side.
Really tough to say what could be causing a high pressure reading without looking at the system. If you haven't used the product other than to check pressure you should be able to return it and get your money back. Then we recommend having a professional technician diagnose the issue.
I understand there are 2 versions of the digital gauge. One is larger with more features. The question I have is regarding the accuracy of both versions. Are they same or is one more accurate in its reading of the psi. If so, which one is more accurate? Thanks.
The gauges are the same in regard to accuracy. The Advanced Digital Gauge provides guided commands to help eliminate guesswork which aids in accurate recharging.
If the pressure reading shows you're in the red, you may have a problem other than low refrigerant causing your issue and will need to have your system looked at by a professional technician.
You just need to unscrew the gauge and it should easily come off. Our 134a gauges unscrew the same direction as a regular screw (righty tighty lefty loosey) and 1234yf guages have reverse threads per regulations so they unscrew backwards (lefty tighty righty loosey).
You need to take the reading when it's connected to your system with the engine on, A/C on high, and the compressor engaged. The reading you're getting is probably the pressure of what's in the can.
