Thank you, well I see these devices as primarily readers and eNote takers, and those are the most important aspects of it, in my view at least, because those are the two areas where they can hold a significant advantage over a traditional tablet.
As usual the top eink reviewer. In fact the the only reviewer that I trust. The devil is in the technical detail/analysis. This is poignantly demonstrated here with regard to the battery findings in relation to BSR for this device (which was overlooked by everyone else rushing out qualitative reviews). Great work!
Yes, I'd love an updte on 3C tests! It'd help to know how much we can expect to be fixed with time. VERY happy to see the battery life improvement! It gives hope! I still wish it was better in the writing test as it's pretty much all I do, but they're in the right direction.
Returned my NA4C and got a Kindle Paperwhite SE. Couldn't be happier. The NA4C is definitely a good device but I found out that I only really care about reading, the color screen doesn't fit my usecase and that I really like almost infinite battery
One thing most people havent noticed is that on the 4c you can pin a shortcut to a specific document, like your digital planner for example, on the homescreen. On the 3c and the g10.e.3 you cant do that.
Link icon removal Long touch on the link icon, click the 3 dots on the top then Remove. You can also move around the icon to position it where you want by long pressing and move with pen/finger
Hello, thanks for this great review! I'd be interested in a updated review of the air 3c battery life as it's been said to have changed very much with newer OS updates.
Hi Voja, great video as always! I don't intend to replace my NA3C, but I am really looking forward to the new home screen and the possibility to upload hyperlinked files as templates. I wouldn't even mind the bugginess for a while 😀My work device is my Supernote Nomad, so for my use case I could live with it.
hey there, can you provide us with infos concerning battery life after updates ? did it get better ? that's the only thing that can help between NA4C vs 3c
🙋♂Hi Voja! I don't have a problem with adding links to a file or specific page via the AI function on the Vertical Toolbar, as it adds the link as a separate artifact that I can click on and delete and add a new one at will. This might be annoying to some, but I find no issues while using my NA3C once you get to know the system. I own a Nomad and this function is much better implemented, that is clear, but my tablet of choice is the Boox device because I need the Android support. Using an E-ink tablet for reading is not an option to me as I prefer a physical book, so battery longevity for writing is more important to me. The issue for me with Boox is that presently the only devices that come with expandable storage is the Note and Tab series. Boox new line up has removed this capability from the Go 10.3 and the new Note Max, but if they had that functionality, I would buy both in a heart beat. Coming from the MS Surface platform, I truly enjoy what e-ink provides as far as the clean slate and ease of writing notes down. Great review as always. Second to none. Kudos from NYC🗽.
Wow the image quality in combination with text is very good. I have the paper pro and although colors are better the text in image rich docs even with their contrast increased in the sett8ngs is not this sharp with pdf. The screen size is smaller but if I had gone with this I would not be returning it like the paper pro for my use case as a student who needs reading first and writing second. The writing is great on the paper pro though this would of suited my use case. Ill definitely get a keleido 3 with front light in the future.
True, but the cover would need indents as well in order for everything to fit correctly. So basically, it needs to be a design decision, not an afterthought.
Hello.. excellent deep dive, thank you! Question: I'm a singing musician/student and considering getting an eink for homework, but also to view lead sheets (sheet music). Do you know if this has sheet music template, or would it be good to view while performing?
very detailed deep dive as always thank you 👏 and indeed it would be great to have a new battery test for the Note Air3C wich is the only thing keeping me from buying it
I've just discovered the E Ink world and I'm currently trying out the Note Air 4c. Question: Where is the "add a page" button in the NeoReader? I watched an official BOOX tutorial on it and the annotation menu they showed looks just like mine EXCEPT that I'm missing the "add a page" button. I'm really looking forward to using that feature!
Not sure if you know the answer to this one. Thinking about buying a 2nd Boox tablet. Wondering if the Boox products talk to each other? Ie., if I write in the Boox Note Air C, will it show up in the Boox Note Air 2 or Palma? I'm talking about their built-in note-taking system. I'd use OneNote, but it's too clunky on e-ink devices still. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for this.. trying to decide if either Boox or Supernote are good for my needs, and was starting to feel like Boox might still be it. Until I got to your explanation of how linking works - i.e. it sucks. So if want to annotate pdf's (preferably in colour, for studying purposes), read books in Kobo, not Kindle-format, have good linking options, decent pen options (I really dislike pens with felt-like nibs, I don't want to buy replacements ever, so ceramic it is), a non-closed system&file format & have repairability - there is no single device yet and I still have to wait & hope. (and no, my iPad mini is not the solution, as the pen and tablet are always empty and the writing feel is not what I want). Sigh.
Hello 👋 one importan improvement in NA4C is actually the front light. When you use the front light the colors now maintain the saturation much nicer than before and the blacks are much more blacks than before. I do the comparison between TUC and NA4C with the same color image and the most similar front light intensity I can match. Please try that and you will be amazed by the new front light.
Kinda hate the piss yellow color of my note air 2 plus and Palma 1 when in warm light. The kindle’s warm light is unmatched for me, is it better in the 4c?
Huh? I was replying to the OP? As for your question, I think that both Kindle and Kobo still are a class above any of the Boox devices go, as far as the front light goes.
@MyDeepGuide hi, yes, but you didn't display full color content to appreciate the mayor difference between them (color reproduction with the front light), at least to me the difference I notice between the TUC and the NA4C was quite impressive. Regards.
Very nice review! thanks. I have an issue... when I use the "marker" for highlight a pdf, if I open it with my computer (after sync with google drive) very annoying "dots" appear in the highlight region, it is not a "continue" mark.. do you have any answer to this? many thanks in advance :)
No, because NA3C measurements were when it was brand new. Also that kind of battery degradation simply doesn't happen on devices like this in such a short amount of time, well, unless you mistreat it badly.
Hello, I have an NA3C which I bought in August 2024. I was wondering if it is worth upgrading to NA4C or not. I think the key question is how much extra money are you willing to pay to update the device to have the upgrades. Given that these two devices had the same initial price, I don't know why boox doesn't offer a renewal plan or something similar.
Hi! I was thinking to upgrade from NA3C to the new one, but a few days ago I received the beta firmware 4.0. All I needed from the new one was the ability to use pdf in the note app. And now it’s there! Having my hyperlinked template agenda in the note app for me it’s huuuuuge. Maybe you can install the new firmware, play around, and see if you missed something that justify the upgrade :). Have a nice day!
@@veronicaschembri Hi! Thanks for the answer. I was seriously thinking of upgrading to the NA4C but after seeing @MyDeepGuide latest video I will finally keep my NA3C. I think I could sell the NAC3 for $150 less the cost in August and this amount of money doesn't just justify the upgrade. As you said, I will wait for the firmware 4.0 to enjoy the ability to use PDF in the note app and I hope for better battery management! Thank you very much!
Hmmm, maybe what's up is that I'm not afraid of patterns and colors, and in fact I like them? Yeah, I think that's what's up 😁 Oh it's you Mr lame watcher! Awwww, nvm, here's a cookie for ya and a hug 🤗 Be well ❤️
Thanks Voja! I was eagerly awaiting your review of this e-Note. Already own a Go 10.3 and trying to decide if this one has a place in my life 😅
Same here. I’m quite a bit uncertain whether go 10.3 and note air 3c /4c can work together.
Hvala.
I really like your deep dive on the reading functionality. An area most reviews gloss over or skip entirely! Great job 👍

This is my favorite e ink device 👍
Thank you, after watching the full video, the Boox Note Air 4c is now ordered 👌🙏 The Boox 7 Order cancelled .

Rather surprised by the battery life of NA4C is so much better even with BSR.
Does this bode well for a Note Max with BSR? that is gonna be an interesting question.
Will be waiting to see if there is a follow up video noting an error in the test

As for the anti-slip, they could easily supply some anti-slip stickers for those who needed them. When worn, they can be easily replaced too.

A problem I have with the Kobo app : if I am disconnected from wifi or in plane mode, impossible to open the app....
Hey Voja, what pen do you recommand to use with the 4c?
He recommended the Kindle Premium pen in the video.
If had white margins and Carta 1300 would be perfect! I dont know if it can be connected to Bluetooth keyboard?!
Yes it can :)
I love this cover. Is it compatible with the Boox 10.3?
No, it's not.
Do you think that the less battery life in the Air 3c is dueto you having it for a year already while the 4c is new?
No, because NA3C measurements were when it was brand new. Also that kind of battery degradation simply doesn't happen on devices like this in such a short amount of time, well, unless you mistreat it badly.
