@@zuzu2971 I recently replayed Pony Island for the first time in a few years, and it's solid, but I do think it has more value as a prototype for some of the ideas explored in The Hex and Inscryption.
I really appreciate Satan’s commitment to this franchise, I personally can’t wait to trick a friend to giving up their soul so that I can get the full experience

Actually, there's also 2024, but it's barely recognizable. If you use slow motion, you can see it twice I think.

and given Daniel also stalled the game by forcing you to reset the same fights over and over which prevented a HUGE number of people from refunding the game, its clear he knew what he was doing

@@abstrusepaladin if you dont initiate act2 the game stops you multiple times mid run to tell you to initiate act2, the game also forces you into an extremely long cutscene between runs
not to mention the fact he still lied about how much of the game has roguelike elements and went out of his way to remove the player's rights to refund the game, even notoriously scummy developers havent gone that far

It's really surprising Daniel Mullins decide to give this game the "meme" title from first Pony Island... Which is intriguing. Direct sequel to Pony Island, filling the gap of how Karnival Code is released to our world? Or the protagonist will get their hand of the original code and dive straight into it? Also rad that SungWon hired to be the actor of the main NPC.
When the game comes out, the ARG will be so elaborate SungWon will become a living avatar of the OLD_DATA right before our eyes.
i mean whos to say it was a meme title it was a secret ending created after the game came out would be a bit of a letdown if the teaser was just a joke instead of something actually to come

due to the many clowns in this game i feel “clownward” will be an important antagonist in the later parts of the game (act 2/3) and not apart of the arg. maybe clownward “winning” will be a big twist later on?

So many things I love and respect about this trailer, but having the release year at the end glitch between 2025 and 2026, is not only fitting for your style of game and narrative, but also ensures the game will be given the time it needs to get finished without potentially upsetting eager players with delays. Just a neat detail in my opinion.
You can also see 2024 for a short time but i doubt it will get released this year
Not joking, this is the announcement I’m most hyped about. Not out of lack of good announcements, either. Didn’t expect this as your next game but honestly am so hyped to see what you do with it!

Comparing Pony Island’s graphics to this…goddamn, the pixel art improvement is phenomenal. I could look at the 2d backgrounds and gameplay for who knows how long. Incredible work. Can’t wait to see more.
What a coincidence. I just got into The Hex so the Danial-Mullins Cinematic Universe has been fresh on my mind. Excited to see how what I thought was a joke game is gonna tie into the overall narrative. This is gonna be fire.

The problem is while it has some incredible highs gameplay wise it generally feels kinda subpar and takes too long to get into the interesting bits. The switchup in legendarias final fight? Great! The compression/decompression mechanic? Really fun! Revisiting old worlds while directly interacting with their mechanics in new ways in Walk? Absolutely stellar, but cut short. Movement in general? Sorta just a pain. Cheat menu in Waste World? Feels underdeveloped and flimsy.
@@reallycool956 The hex is 100% without a doubt the best game of the series, it sucks that it’s so overlooked by the community. I love Inscryption, but The Hex has one of the most interesting stories and ARGS I’ve ever seen. I’d go as far as to call it a perfect video game.
@@woodsytheowlscharedcorpse4761 The gameplay of Waste World is definitely not intended to be tight and well-designed, the whole concept is that it was a game cancelled very early in development and was taken over by modders to complete it and make it their own, leading to a bizarre and completely unbalanced experience. It’s the same thing in Inscryption, where there are many intentionally unfair and completely broken gameplay mechanics, things like “Too fast, Too soon”, the Ouroboros, many overpowered sigil synergies, etc are deliberate and objectively bad and unfair from a gameplay perspective, but they serve to add to the story and atmosphere of the game

Here he is again flawless blending genres and different forms of media together to create an interesting story. Absolutely love your work and the Hex is still one of the most creative games I've ever played.

Has made so many amazing games, all with one main theme: breaking the fourth wall to smithereens. Except one change, they found out how to make it not disturbing, and switch to disturbing all with a small flick of a switch. In pony island, it’s innocently the blue guy acting like flowey in the end of undertale. In the hex, Sado has a disturbing scene where they get out of prison and look DIRECTLY AT THE PLAYER. In inscryption, it’s the camera glitching, the irl scenes, the commentary. This game group was my late first digits of my life.
This is honestly unbelievable that Pony Island was released almost 8 years ago... It definitely left some great memories when I first saw it, there was just something unique about the atmosphere of that game, something intriguing, something that actually made me feel like an explorer. The game was full of cool secrets and some cool world building, and just seeing this trailer... God, it evokes so many great feelings! It looks so fun and beautiful, I will wait for as long as it needs to!

I recognized that cursor at first sight! Lovely visual combination of the first Pony Island’s 2D graphics and Inscyption’s 3D!
the original pony island, albeit very rarely, still had 3d components to it. in 3d, you are standing at an arcade machine, playing a 2d video game. This seems to just take that idea and run even further with it than the original did.

2024, 2025, and 2026 at the very end of the video, and there's definitely some audio nonsense at the end of the trailer for the ARG teams to play with. Also, hot damn, Pony Island 2.

No matter which way this goes, I'm already hyped. Pony Island was unironically a fantastic game, and to not only see the gameplay and storyline that kickstarted this batshit insane continuity get elaborated on, but also learn how different mythologies and religions play into this world at the same time, is going to be cool as... well.

I keep coming back to this trailer like a drug.
We all have those games that show us what gaming truly means to us. Inscryption is the most recent game that I've truly been floored by since the original Alan Wake when I was a kid (weird pick, I know). Other indie devs have made things I really liked, such as Lisa or Undertale, but none of them managed to capture my imagination the way you did. I grew up playing Magic the Gathering with my brother, deckbuilding is in my blood, so Inscryption ticked all my boxes. Growing up you think games are all made to have a particular structure, have similar rules, fit within a genre. The ball drop after act 1 had the biggest smile on my face, and nothing has ever hit me in the feels like playing one last round of cards with Leshy at the end of the game. Daniel you're not a game dev, you're an artist, an extraordinary one. Im friggin stoked to play this
I popped off so hard when I saw the Pony Island 2 title, I was talking to my friend about how it reminded me of Pony Island 1, just to my surprise.....
At this point I'll just buy any Daniel Mullins game instantly, but this trailer was truly, amazingly unhinged.
When I saw videos about that secret pony island 2 arcade cabinet in the first game, I legitimately thought that was a joke secret or something. I would have NEVER expected that it was being serious about Pony Island 2! This will be very interesting!

A true sequel, it changes what is necessary to make it worth playing, but maintains what brought it there in the first place, deserves the title of Pony Island and shows how much love goes into it.
