- I am out here fishing with Texas Rigs and Swimbaits, and This Lure saved the day! Bank fishing for bass and even bluegill has been difficult lately. The fish seemed so active just a few days ago. But you can only fish the day you have, so its time to change things up until you start catching some. I start with a Texas Rig and catch nothing. I switch to a jerkbait hoping to attract a bit from a bass or even a big panfish. I manage one bluegill in 40 minutes! Finally after switching to the one inch swimbait, I am able to catch both bass and bluegill. If you are having a tough time, here is a fishing tip: maybe try the smallest swimbait you have. #fishing #realistic

What is working for you in the heat??
Staying indoors is working for me lol
My summer days fishing regime is Mornings start with topwater, then maybe try different jerkbaits and it typically ends with soft plastics and jigs.. It's hard in the heat, but also feels a little extra more rewarding when you can land beauties like you did that evening...

Chilling in the AC, watching the professor give us another lesson on the 'tube.
Finally got my hands on some Gulp Alive 3” white grubs and blue shiner minnows at Walmart. I’m a sunrise fisherman. Us older folks are in bed before sunset or shortly after 😂.. I haven’t used live bait in over 12 years.
I caught a 3lb large mouth 3 years ago on a 1 inch Gulp Minnow. Not one since. This season has been a strange one in NW Ohio so far. Great video as usual.

After a tough start you found something that worked! That's a win.
Man that hybrid at the end was a STUD. Big and beefy, pattern like a shellcracker on the body, head and gill like a bluegill. That second bullgill with the dark colors, sloped and notched head was a tank too.

It's tough to tell if you're throwing the wrong lures or if the fish aren't there. Making a luee change definitely helps to make that determination.
It’s always tough knowing when to change lures and spots when the fishing gets slow

For me it's heading to the creeks and hopping in. Flowing water is always cooler and creek fish are always hungry.

Selmo to the rescue with the agro bluegill. The jerk bait off the float, though, always seems to produce in the summer.

Thanks for the video Alex. It’s been warm and the bite has been slow almost nonexistent 🤣. I did manage to catch a small large mouth today but it took about 3 hours to catch it.

Caught some monster blue gill. Sometimes fishing is just tough like hard math, and you just got to keep working at it to figure it out. Like you did by sizing way down. Good video, see you next time

Surprised I never see ya' use a top water popper...I enjoy your post frequently, might have just missed it. When the lake is like a mirror , I've frequently "woke" some up that way...God bless you and as always, tight lines! ( When I refer to "top water", I'm thinkin' poppers.)

The last fish you caught looked like a Redear Sunfish/Shellcracker. I have caught some of those where the red patch behind the ear was just a white outline or just a faint red color. I had them and Bluegill mixed up myself until I looked at the features they have and what's different. But it's all good! #KeepItRealistic

I think the storms that have been coming through have messed up the fishing
On my river been using a green pumpkin rage menace/bitsy bug as a swim jig and a paddle tail minnow for searching. Then a zoom trick worm on a shakey head spot remover or a BPS Stick-o wacky rigged.
Mule fishing plastics and jigs are what I go to so I can catch something.
I had quite the stretch of skunking it here in Maine. Not a ton of available bank fishing areas unless you feel like testing out "permissive trespass." With vegetation starting to go wild, I have been using a "weedless micro ned" (1/10oz Z-man Nedlocks EWG with some trimmed *gasp* Googin Rattlin' Neds in Mud Minnow color) on an BPS Micro Lite combo. Can't seem to keep the smallmouth off my hook right now.

Keep it realistic
With it being this hot, the fish are lethargic and deep in cold water so I tend to throw a deeper runming crankbait, reeling as slow as I can, stopping occasionally, that has worked a bit. The pond is fish isnt terribly deep.
