if wives stayed faithful to one man, this also wouldn't happen. Men hit women, women hit their little boys, little boys grow up to be men. The circle continues forever.
@ All throughout history, men have had multiple wives, mistresses and concubines- not vice versa. There are many cases where the man gave his lawful wife STDs, for example, the crown prince Rudolf of Austria who was Empress Sisi”s son. He ended his life because of depression and his illness and his wife/widow wasn’t able to have another child. Sure, some women cheat, too, but for men cheating was and is more socially accepted. Btw, most royal women didn’t raise their children, but servants did. An excellent recipe to create spoiled brats.
with the fault of men in the history a woman is often blamed. From the perspective of empress she was right, as the first wife who struggled with him during his difficult time she has the right to enjoy the glory of the husband but instead he favoured his other consort that led to a resentment . But from consort qi side she was also right to protect her son and herself as she knew how much empress resented her. From the start if the emperor had made a boundary this will hadn't been occured as an outcome of the later power struggle.
And yet her son's health declined, depressed and horrified by his mother's cruelty toward what she termed "the human pig". What good was her revenge if it ruined her son's life? She could have disposed of Chi and her son discretely and still have secured her goals. As it was, history has left her viewed as a depraved widow and an utimately unsuccessul regent. No one mourned her passing beyond the obligatory ritual.
True, unless they figured way to cauterize the wound to stop the bleeding, though I think the stress itself would have killed her. Can't imagine human can be so cruel, regardless of the reason!
Cauterisation would have been possible, though I think the shock would have killed her. 3 days is not feasible, 24 hours is a stretch. The whole sentence and punishment is more likely to be a 3 day process.
depending on how the amputation is carried out, the larger vessels will retract and clamp themselves off and keep blood loss lower than you'd think. Watching a surgeon fish for the vessel they want to ligate is...an interesting sight. along with this tourniqueting would prevent blood loss, so would packing or binding the stump. And remember too...history is written by those who probably were the winners, so they're going to inflate their stories to make them look even cooler (or scarier) than they really are.
Empress Lu Zhi really went too far with the way she treated Consort Qi Yi. She could have just beheaded Qi Yi, but instead she did such inhumane things to her. I read this story years ago and it really made my skin crawled.
And after all that effort to keep her son safe, Empress Lu ends up indirectly causing him to die by making him watch the unbelievable torture of Consort Qi. How horrific.
Sooo…they cut off their limbs, took away their sensory organs, and THEN shaved them? That doesn’t make any sense. What would be the point of doing that?
I wondered if “body hair” was a euphemism for genital mutilation. Like the way they use the word “thigh” in the bible. But in some European countries, shaven pits & bits is the traditional anti-crabs precaution - consequently the stigmata - of prostitutes. Maybe also in China? So a humiliating insult to stigmatise the corpse.
@@eh1702 hm, wondering why you want to make this even crueler than it actually was, I´m also wondering where your comparison with the BIBLE even comes from. "thigh" in the bible just means "thigh". People in those days were not as genital-fixated and had more decency in their language than our sexualized generation nowadays may believe, but they named things like the foreskin whenever they could not be avoided.
She's not sitting in a jar that's a chamber pot where you do your business and it belonged to empress Lu Zhi. Lady Qi was cemented into that pot after her legs and arms were cut off
We know many cultures were violent and cruel some still are today maybe in a different way but this human nature. As humans we are worse than animals in some points of view but not many give in to that instinct luckily. One describe very well in some way the tortures but no one could survive 4 limbs cut of their bleeding to death in these cases is very quick. What they did after is to humiliate the person drivin by the anger of the person who did order it. Scribes in the old days did expres themselves in many ambiguous ways we all know that because there was no special way in the language to explain or expression for certain things who did happen ( one has only to read the bible). Many cruel people lived and did horrible things but the scripture of the events in those days always gone in overdrive.
The first wife is the empress the emperor Liu at that time has countless lovers even before becoming an emperor but he can't get rid of his wife because his wife has more influence in politics than him
Jealousy, vengeance and love, a very volatile mixture, but that doesn't give anyone the right to behave so cruelly. Thank you.
If men stayed faithful to one wife, none of this and many similar tragedies would have happened.

My thoughts exactly
Unfortunately most men are pigs and cant be faithful.
Let's be honest. Women often flirt with married man, especially if the man is wealth and handsome! So they bear the fault, too.

It is a woman's fault. Nobody forced her to be cruel to another woman.
She brought destruction upon her own son. What a monster!
No human lives for days after such torture it’s simply not possible, she would have bled out within 60 min after 4 amputations
Bled out.

"bled"

She was one sick puppy to dream that up
In a deadly Royal Court you have to be ruthless

Empress Lu Zhi must have silent her anger for so many years to come to this extreme cruelty.
Both women knew their children’s lives were at stake
And after all that effort to keep her son safe, Empress Lu ends up indirectly causing him to die by making him watch the unbelievable torture of Consort Qi. How horrific.
Wife or not she was a psychopath
This is some mean stuff. Cruel. Hard to imagine people did this stuff.
Sooo…they cut off their limbs, took away their sensory organs, and THEN shaved them? That doesn’t make any sense. What would be the point of doing that?
They wanted to see them as less than human.

Extreme evil has always been a major problem afflicting humanity. Such depravity from the bowels of hell where these demons came from.
Difficult to keep up with who killed who.
Apparently, eye gouging is the most painful torture know to man 😢
Very education video, thank you. Do you know what is the name of the film the scenes are from? It looks very good!
Very interesting but I got somehow lost. The names are too similar 😅
Why is that woman sitting in the jar?

The end never justifies the means. Justice and righteousness could have been achieved in a far more humane way. This was a very pathological revenge.
A cruel and inhumane race/culture .😮
Who became Emprtor and what happened to the first Wife, not Empress?
The first wife is the empress the emperor Liu at that time has countless lovers even before becoming an emperor but he can't get rid of his wife because his wife has more influence in politics than him
Where is it documented as a proof?
Sick.
😢😢😢😢😢😢
is this not better known as death by a thousand cuts?
Entirely different
Lingchi also known as slow slicing. Very very different.
What a load of make belief fairy tale this is. Where is the documentation or chronology of this absurd story?
