    I went with a JHS Colour Box V2. It seemed to be able to be used on absolutely anything, mics, synths, guitars. It has both XLR and a regular 1/4" out too, so I'm using it mostly in my pedal board chain for sweet clean tones and can shape my favorite overdrives like never before.

    I bought mine when I got my 1st Olson, which was in the late 90's.
    Yep, they're the best.

      @BradDollar  หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's awesome! I mean, you could hook a tin can up to an Olson and it would sound like heaven, but with this DI I bet yours sounds awesome. A great point that these things stand the test of time!

    Funnily enough I opened up for Otis Gibbs and he swore by this box. He had a lovely tone. My Martin D-28 came with an Fishman Aura Ellipse Aura but that went ‘pop’ after a year and couldn’t get any word back from either company. Hence why I’m looking about to sort my sound out after ‘just doing wit!h the last ten years and saw your recent review after googling the box.

    • @BradDollar
      @BradDollar  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey how are you! Glad to help you in the hunt for the next era of your plugged in tone. That D-28 is I’m sure beautiful. Deserves only the best. I would highly recommend any of the LR Baggs pickups too. Had a chance to hear a lot of them and they’re real special. Combined with this DI it’s a pretty amazing sound.
      Keep me posted. And thank you for watching!

    The Baggs is a very good DI. I've been using a Radial Tonebone Pz-Pre for many years. I haven't found anything that replaces it yet .... and that includes anything made by L.R. Baggs.

    • @BradDollar
      @BradDollar  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey if you find something you love and works, stick with it! Radial makes such wonderful gear too. A very close second for me in DIs is the Radial JDI, so I totally understand.

    I'm running a Grace ALiX these days with my bluegrass band. Love the sound and the EQ, but the thing that's irreplaceable for me is the power OUTPUT on it to power my shure GLXD Wireless pedal rig. Very practical thinking from @gracedesigns

    Does this unit make a piezo under saddle pickup usable? Mine sounds really fizzy and I'm thinking of selling it.

    • @BradDollar
      @BradDollar  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It definitely helps! The preamp plus the EQ give you some room to improve the tone. It will always have that piezo vibe but you can make it a lot more usable. It may be worth checking out the LR Baggs Voiceprint DI as well. I don't like the dry DI side of it as much as the Para DI, but the ability to create a simulated mic sound from your actual instrument could help you split the difference.
      I also just posted part 2 with a demo of how it sounds if you're interested.
      Appreciate you watching! Thank you!

    Great video man!
    I’ve had one for 20 years.
    Here’s my question- I have an amp with Phantom power. I also have a PA. Here’s my question, I’m wanting to record with my condenser mic, and use the LR to control my sound. How do I hook that up? For some reason I’m not figuring it out. Do I need an audio interface?
    Thanks so much for considering my question.
    I’ve have a brain injury and sometimes it just gets the best of me!!
    Subd!!

    • @BradDollar
      @BradDollar  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you so much for being here! The “correct” way to do it would be for you to get an interface of some kind that has a preamp in it - which is most these days. You won’t need much. With some extra accessories you could technically use the LR Baggs on the front end as a preamp, but you would still need an interface to get that signal into a computer. Let me know if you need some recommendations.
      Appreciate you watching!

    When i go to gigg i take this di and two stereo j radial boxes. I test out each one when i set up according to what acoustic guitar i am going to use and what kind of pick up is in it. I mostly rember what works with what. Sometimes i just like the phantom power radials j series stereo boxes . It all depends on what my ear tells me at acceptable levels.

    • @BradDollar
      @BradDollar  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I have 2 of these LR Baggs DI boxes. I use one at church where I lead worship using an acoustic electric, but I’ve recently started playing with a variety band playing mostly electric guitar and I’m in the process of figuring out what works best for my pedal board.
    For the band I’m mostly playing my Telecaster through a Fender Twin and using basic effects like Blues Driver, Mooer yellow comp, MXR carbon copy and a MXR analog chorus.
    I’ve been curious if I could employ my other Para Acoustic DI on this board but haven’t tried it yet. Now I think I will experiment!!
    Thanks Brad!!
